I'll pay top dollar for a time machine to go to all these shows was lucky enough to see them live in 03 04 and 08 all in Massachusetts but need that time machine
Yep - I met them Nov, 19, 1987, at Texas A&M gig. Met them at their buses (Mike had his own) afterward. Still have my signed ticket stubs, but Michael would not sign. He said "I will shake your hand, though." Great show- Didn't realize it was called the Work Tour, but that makes sense since Finest Work Song. I asked Mike why they didn't play at UT Austin, which would have 3x more people, (closer to 16,000 tickets sold), and he said, "We don't want to play the large commercial venues." As a UT business student, in the music industry at the time, that struck me as stupid. Still think it was stupid because they still would have made a shitload more; it would not have had an effect on their "non-commercialism," especially because they were commercial anyway at the time. Guess I was right, because they played at UT Austin the next year on their Green Tour. Sold out. THat was still the greatest REM years - Pageant, Document and Green.
Not sure if I would have survived 1980's without REM??!!🤔
Awesome. One of my all time R.E.M. favourites. Saw them in ’87 at New Haven. Did I say it was and is awesome? Thank you so much for uploading this!
I was at the Knoxville show. thanks for the memory jiggle.

Ouch! What a terrible start! It seems that Peter started in the wrong key...
My fave too! I saw them on the Document tour, met them - but what year was this video??
The Work Tour was in 1987.

Never written on youtube before but you've inspired me - have to agree Pageant, Document, Green were the pinnacle (the rest weren't too bad either)
Man, that R.E.M. cover band could use some practice
