Andy here from the NAM-U/Ampsim Universe team Agravatar module The Comp knob (since renamed to TIGHT on an update) is not a full range regular compressor but a simplified one knob Andy Sneap Waves C4 trick tailored to duck only a narrow range of the overbearing resonant low end bass frequencies you get from when you do chuggs/palm mutes. It keeps them in, just lowers the volume of them and a little goes a long way. The SMOOTH knob does the same dynamic EQ thing, only acting as a de-esser to control higher harsh high-mid and treble frequency areas. They interact a lot with the OOMPH (bass) and SPARKLE (highs) knobs and you can kind of do the Pultec EQ bass mixing technique to add harmonics and also tame the resonance of the boosts.
Awesome video, as usual! And Geez, I am honored, using my captures throughout the whole video! The "6505PLUS HighVol" thing is a capture I made specifically for the NAMplayer from DIMEHEAD, and is the profile with I use live all the time. Gets that visceral 5150-feel to it live. For home usage, I use the Booster-Rooster stuff in my amp section. The Boosts in the "Boost" Folder of mine are meant to go with the Booster Rooster amps at a headroom value of dBu (so Focusrite Scarlett users and most people wanna turn down input gain of the plugin simply to -2dB, and then get a comparable result like me at home - but check the headroom of your interface's input, mine is +10dBu). Great to see how NAM is again getting a push in the community.
Fired this up yesterday after getting the email. So sick, we are definitely spoiled as guitar players. Highly recommend the Warlord IR it comes with. Tried it with several amp captures and it just slays. Especially when used with the Mudkiller boosted into the Mesa 2c cranked captures. Just teeth for days.
This might sound basic but I'm also happy it has a built in tuner. Now I don't have to load a separate plugin. To me I like it better than say gnome for its simple to use design and not a ram hungry. Its a win for my personal use. Thanks for the video res my favorite content creator.
it's actually insane, and i love the amp selection in the current version. a lot of my hidden gem amps. peavey ultra, jet city jca22h, bugera 333, engl blackmore.
It’s awesome seeing software continue to evolve. Standard amp sims can only go so far… and most normal sounds have already been created. Packages like these are definitely the wave of the future: taking what’s been done, adding new features, and putting it all together. It sounds great 🤓.
I got the email for this yesterday and thought it might be spam, so thanks for the enlightenment. Looks like it is truly legit with all the functionality and options. You are on top of the cutting edge stuff, as always! I better get busy downloading right now. Thanks for the heads up and video! 👑🎸🔥
Funny that you said you "don't like the compression stuff" (which yes, has now been changed to TIGHT) because that's exactly what you want to be turning up instead of turning the Bass EQ on the amp profile down! You lose ALL the low end all the time doing that instead of letting the dynamic compression take away that low end rumble with the TIGHT/COMP control But I imagine you probably know that by now
It isn't loading properly on FL Studio. Why? It keeps trying to load as if it is an instrument/synth instead of an effect. The installer is not transparent (honest) enough about its settings for me to figure out what is happening. Does anyone have any idea?
Downloading this .vst for my studio set off my Virus detecter. I tried to redownload it, and it done it again. Now my computer wont accept my admin password ! I tried to run a full scan, and the scan stopped at 42 items. After about 10 minutes the scan ended, saying that the scan was finished, but only 42 items were scanned !!! There are 2 instances of the download in my "Downloads" folder, and they are both red flagged by my anti virus !
True Stereo in and out. You can use stereo delay/mod etc before the plugin or use it on a bus/send to route multiple guitar tracks to with pan positions intact.
I mentioned that in beta testing that would be nice, same with a chorus. But, for now it's meant to be kind of a steroidized NAM loader. Maybe a future update will contain more racks with Delay/Reverb, who knows?
@@resington For me, the beauty of this is to use it as a standalone with my room correction loaded in the Cab IR slot. If I need to load up a daw to add more stuff, the purpose is defeated. BTW, serial (instead of blend) A into B option in the Cab section would also be great.
Andy, from the NAM-U/Ampsim Universe team. This is only v1…there will be a v2 in the future 😎😉. There maybe modules for that. With the FEEDBACK button in the lower left, you can send all your issues/suggestions to Chris at Wavemind.
@@amurphycmu hey Andy. It's great how it is man nice job. Adding delay chorus etc would just be pointless for me personally. We all have those plugins.
at best this plugin is average in sound and how it performs in mix especially when it comes to pc resources ...few instances are pc hungry as mentioned in video...and another thing it doesnt support high sample rates...still lots of improvements to be done for it to shine .
I downloaded it. I installed it. I ran it. And it CRASHED my Logic project in plugin mode... AFTER it also crashed itself in standalone mode. Couldn't get it to run for love or money. Should I try again, or bag on this? Perhaps I'll give it another go. I'm running MacOS Catalina - which it says is compatible with the plugin and app.
Yes! Been following this project for a while and happy to finally mess with it. Shoutout to all the creators and Wavemind for the hard work! :D
Oh awesome! My buddy Luan also did the GUI design, so it’s cool to see his name on another killer plugin.
First thing I thought of was Revalver! Excellent work

Finally stereo inputs and such an easy interface to navigate through folders. Paid VSTs should feel ashamed they can't do this.
I can't believe either. They are so good to us.
Sounding great as always. I can't wait to try this. I got the email already but haven't had a chance to mess with it yet.
This is very cool! Gotta remember to try this when I'm back home with my guitars again 👍

thanx man! I have to grab that free plugin.

Which OS? I'll pass that on to the developer
Can't make NAM universal to load any profile. I load up and all of them remain sounding like clean though EQ for example works. Don't know what to do
