@rayderweich in actuality the only bad thing about this is in the first fight where for like 3 turns you could've matched a piss to move 2 poops into position and used the extra move to match poops

Fun fact, the negative counts as an attack spell so you can reroll an attack spell as the empty into the negative... which can force you to restart rooms if it's the only spell you have
It's a game I wouldn't put on a "favorite roguelikes list", but I think the hate it gets is completely undeserved. It could benefit from some more variety though, it gets samey after a while.
imagine if instead there was 2 paths : the already existing one where enemies where mostly immune to spells and the new one where enemies would be mostly immune to attacks
I played this at launch and really liked it, but it was infested with glitches and needed way more time before it was released. I’m pretty sure it didn’t even have a settings menu at launch.

I was over the fence before I saw this video. Bought the game after watching it, and I have to say, I was not disappointed. Bumbo the Weird being S tier cannot be argued. Even if his health is low, he doesn't really need them as he will simply be massacaring every room. But, as you said, his weakness is very obvious. If his combo does not go off, his damage output is severely reduced. He is also rather weak to enemies that smear shit on the board, as it prevents mana from being generated for skill use. Now I just have to suffer a couple more runs to try and unlock Bumbo the Lost.
@@rayderweich another tip for bumbo the lost, if you get hit you can just exit and re open the run, just did it after I lost my save data for some reason
Cool vid, I’m glad to see someone talking about Bumbo! The game is definitely underrated. I don’t think it’s as good as Ed’s other recent work, but it still blew me away that he was able to make a match X puzzle game so fun!
I def agree. It has its issues, but this game has been largely forgotten which I think is unfair. This is one of my favorite Ed games, more people should know about it!
I thought bumbo would hold my interest until repentance came out, little did I know that repentance came out 1.5 years later I still loved the game and played a lot on launch and talked in the bumbo channel in the isaac discord, it was a fun time for sure, then the expansion came out a little before repentance and that was fun too
I own this game and just haven't played it yet. I stream a lot of isaac and was wondering if I should stream this game, or if I should just play it on my own. I never decided, for this and for slay the spire too XD I feel like it would be better to play off stream but I also think it would be cool to stream a game I haven't played before, which would actually let me see my improvement over time, unlike Isaac where I was already an expert on the game before my first stream.
13:31 ok i just gotta say, i think ur wrong here. when you (normally) match 4 yellow tiles, you spend 1 move to gain 1 move. basically a net neutral (except for the fact that you got rid of 4 tiles on the board) since the needle uses 4 yellow mana, that normally useless mana becomes a free attack! and the fact that it increases in damage as you use it can be pretty clutch too. i once had a 6 damage needle lol
I really think the game should get a big ol update like TBoI. Fix the major bugs, add new enemies, bosses, floor layouts, items, just something to show love to the fans
nah nimble is broken asf, i beat the final boss of basement on TURN 1 with nimble, literally he didnt get a turn, by far my favorite character in the game. hes only really good if youre good at planning ahead (which i am) so hes not a beginner friendly character, but ive played the game enough to be good at him.
You know that’s probably fair, I won’t say he’s broken tho. To me, weird is the only reaaally busted character. But I like nimble, when I jump back in, he’s one of the few characters I still play, love the challenge factor he brings, although my fav is still bumbo the lost

A tip for lost, you can skip rooms or floors with items and it counts. But so glad I convinced you to give it a go!! That’s why I made the vid :D
