    [memo] Swing Flaw - What's wrong ?
    클럽이 우리 주위를 둥글게 돌도록 스윙해야 한다 ( we got to get the club so that it comes around ).
    이것이 왜 내가 .. around 하는 느낌의 스윙을 해야 된다고 말하는 이유인데 ... so much around, around over here ... 내몸쪽으로 당기는 느낌이 있어야 하고 ... 이것이 클럽헤드가 바깥방향으로 나가지 않는 이유이다 ( the club-head doesn't go out from me)
    그 이유는 원상에서 (on a circle), 원형의 스윙 궤도(플레인) 위에서 스윙을 하려고 하기 때문이다 ! (high five )
    직선(straight lines)이란 없는 것이다 ! The Golf Swing Happens On A Circle !

    I’ve watched literally thousands of videos on golf.
    Malaska is, for me, by far the best tutor I’ve seen. This guy makes it so so easy to understand.
    He’s amazing!!!

    With Malaska move you hit solid and effortlessly. Done correctly, you feel the hands down close to the body in a circle move and the club head out. To the direction of the ball. And maintaining the left hip back. Instead of moving forward the hip and making a mess catching it up.

    @6:20 The "student" asks his "teacher" (in this perfect example of the power of role reversal in teaching) to explain the essential concept of his method in the form of a "simple" question. After a brief, somewhat awkward pause, she nails it! Mike's reaction to her answer is what makes him such a great golf instructor...he is visibly delighted (in his typical low key manner) that she truly gets it. The best teachers always get great joy from their students success.

    Ahhhh, the ball always goes down a tangent from the swing.....a tangent of a straight line swing definitely will not go down the intended line, so you need to make a circular swing to have a straight line tangent emanate from that. Sorry, I have to always overthink these things!

    I noticed a tremendous amount of pressure against my right forefinger(right-handed golfer) when I started that elbow pivot; must create quite a bit of speed...it's almost like a change in direction....go down...and then over.

    It’s what I can clearly see. The 0 motion of the combined opposing hands completing a circular path of the club head centripetal force from start to finish. As we rotate and pivot our body back and forth in our golf swing it is only our hands on the handle of the golf club that sends the centripetal force from our body to the ball and guides it to it path both on the backswing and downswing. Mike helping her identify the pointing position of the the handle of the club at the mid point of her swing and after her swing shows her and us the importance of a true circular path in our golf swing. Nice teaching for sure

    This is somewhat similar to Jim Waldrons swing illusion - check out youtube videos. It's a different way to explain very similar swing mechanics - the swing is rotary, the arms go up and right, the swing feels like it's done in front of the right side, etc.

    Just a little note Mike, if you Supinate and have your left wrist in flexion it is possible for the club head to run down the line. As a function of centripetal force the arm, forearm, and wrist will try and straighten completely when the club accelerates. During that pulling the supination and flexion can actually cause a flat spot and allow the club to run linear for a period of time.

    I appreciate this video so much. A friend of mine did the same thing she did in the video with the tees. but now, them boys in trouble because although I was hitting 'some' good shots, I wasn't comfortable because I felt slightly too far from the ball. I don't think it mattered so much, but I feel more comfortable not feeling like 'm reaching from the ball. So for the 8th time I'm headed to the range with just this in mind. Gonna take the camera again and get ready for my biggest tournament in less than two weeks. Thanks Mike and the young lady.

    Thanks for the good info, was really having a hard time with my irons, pull hooks , thin shots ball not getting up in the air very well. Tried the drill slow 5 or 6 times and then hit 3 great 7 irons in a row ! Thanks so much !!

    This was a perfect learning experience , in several ways. The student is slightly out of the comfort zone. Her efforts to view and explain are in line with your thoughts of don't just play understand it. A very nice segment to explain how to accomplish a more effective movement . Margarita is a good sport , nicely done 👍

    Getting the student to teach the teacher is a brilliant technique. I don't think I've ever seen it in golf instruction, or any other instruction, come to think about it. Really ensures the pupil gets the 'why' as well as the 'what'.

    It seems his actual swing does not at all do what he is teaching. With his actual swing on the way down when his left arm is parallel to the ground, note the shaft is not steep at all. Then look at impact and see how far his hands are from his body. Neither of these are like the practice swing.

    • @AtienzaLouie
      @AtienzaLouie 7 лет назад

      Exactly - because what you "feel" and what you "see" are not always one and the same...

    • @virtualbown
      @virtualbown 7 лет назад +1

      But he is not teaching feel here. He's showing the positions in a sequence and then not executing those positions.
      His club position at 5:40 is not the same as 5:45.

    • @AtienzaLouie
      @AtienzaLouie 7 лет назад +1

      He "is." It's part of his swing and teaching philosophy, even though he doesn't explicitly say so here. Basically the "feel" is to tip the club forward, that it stays in the front of the hands and not behind in the "stuck" position. The whole point of this lesson was to have the student give the teacher a lesson, in that she gets more insight and understanding with her game.

    Every man on the planet who loves golf should watch the women play. They never force anything. The are not in love with distance the way a men are. I came to the conclusion a long time ago. Most the golf courses I play on. Even the top venues in my area are 6800 yards tops. Some a little longer but realistically 6800 is the average. Most par fours are 400 yards some more but on the average. 250 is all I need off the tee. I would rather keep the ball in play. Stay away from the big numbers. I nice smooth swing with little or no effort is what I am after. Mike is the perfect teacher for this. Natural golf swing!!

      That is so true. I have 7” and 80 pounds on my wife and swing like a gorilla... aaaaand she beats me like a drum every time we play. Doing her thing, straight down the fairway 100 yards at a time. (While I’m 200 yards in the woods.)
