charlie rapidly becoming my favorite guitarist
I stood in the rain in dublin with my son in his push chair and my wife... I lost my job and me and my family are living out of hotel rooms... my idol charlie parr is playing tonight in dublin it's sold out... I'm there to glimpse him cos I haven't the money to see my idol... sitting at the bar window full of rain droplets is charlie parr... the show is sold out and I walk in and ask if I can meet my idol I'm told yes and over I go... I explain I've come to see him I've only the bus fare in my pocket and I came to try glimpse him... he puts his arm around me and says your with me tonight james you and your family! God bless you charlie may the road always level out to bring you safety where ever you may travel... irish blessings upon you!

Charlie is just about the best thing happening in American music. Feel grateful every time i hear him fire that thing up. Same feeling i get listening to the old masters.

I Too did same. Later bought a random National through Reverb from Chicago Music Exchange. Was one that Charlie sold off. There was no mention he had owned it. Saw Charlie later at a show, he confirmed and told me about it.

Great camera work, the guitar is always in frame! It presumably drives all guitar players insane when the video zooms in on the artists face while you're studying the hand skills. Take notice videographers.

What is this picking style called because it sounds amazing?
robbiepeterh alternating bass. Mississippi John Hurt plays in this style. Many people learnt from him when he was rediscovered in the early 60's. Blind willie mctell does a nice version of this song on 12 string guitar.
Finger style alternate bass playing 4 beats to the bar
Piedmont ragtime maybe. I only know Blind Wille McTell

Does anyone know what tuning this is in? My ear isn't good enough to figure it out.. I think I can play it by sight and ear once I'm in the tuning. Thank you.
I think it's DADF#AD and then Capo on second fret
Maybe somewhat late, but still very nice to play! He tuned his guitar down to open D. The capo on 2 making it open E. Good luck!
Do you think Charlie knows he has three more fingers on his right hand? 😜
Not sure if serious, but be aware Charlie cannot use those other fingers anymore due to repetitive motion injury. He basically had to relearn the guitar using only thumb and forefinger in order to continue his career. In my opinion his playing is better now than when he used two or three fingers. Cheers!
