I think the RR5 is supposed to be a nod to Randy Rhoads black Rhoads he played. It's got the same hardware and everything. It was an updated version of his concord but in black with the gold pick guard and a more sleek and angular design since he himself thought the concord was a bit clunky.
Yeah probably, but the white/black pinstripe with gold hardware RR variants that Jackson bring out (there was a RR5) are likely based on the trim of the original Concorde. The OG in turn was probably inspired by the Gibson LP Custom thing, Randy himself used a white 1974 custom so he probably dug the look and had it slathered all over the first Concorde. Now that I think about it, the black Concorde might be inspired by the Custom LP Black Beauty look… Addendum: Randy was right about the original Concorde shape. Hey - they can’t be perfect right out of the gate every time!
@@batastrophic9762 i never realized he was inspired by the colors of his Les Paul. You learn something new everyday.
@@batastrophic9762yea, randy also didnt like playing the white concord because the upper fret access was rubbish but it was a first stereotype so noone to blame.
I have a rr5 , it smokes! But my E-II arrow is a flamethrower.
Hotshot huh?
Rip Alexi
I wish Jackson did one for Oli Herbert, even if it’s more like the white Jackson RRT that he used before he signed with Ibanez, or the Warrior he used awhile. R.I.P. Oli
All That Remains... so amazing! I'd like to see this as well!
They Did
There is a rare one of 7 oli jackson up for sale on reverb right now.
@@Nasty_Riffs I’m just seeing this now. A little out of my budget and honestly, while it’s a production guitar (although not in production right now with the correct pinstriping), I’d just want the white one. When he used it for the “What if I was nothing” video, it brought back a lot of memories of the lessons I took from him in high school. But then I’d have a pointy ass guitar in a shape I don’t really vibe with as a player myself haha. Ah well
@@joshbittner he never had production models. Those are all usa customs shops. They only made 7 of the red ones and they were 7k to buy.
I owned the King V, utterly crushing guitar
RIP Alexi! That's one of the few gold hardware guitars that I have actually liked. I tend to lean towards black, chrome, or satin chrome. Bronze hw looks pretty good with certain finishes, but it's hard to find unless you make it or know someone. Good looking shred machines!
I wish Jackson re-released the RRXT line. Set neck shredders at a fantastic price point. Wish they had more colors in that line, but I got my hands on a Kawasabi Green one 😎
I have rr24xt Grey. It's incredible
Awesome! 👍 😎
built to shred! \m/
I've never considered a RR V in the past, but lately it's suddenly all I think about.
Miss and love you Alexi💯💯💯🤘🤘🤘,which would you pick Agu🤔
I need that white king v. I wonder why James did not use it more often.
He sound he never got the sound he really wanted out of it, even dug out the cavity to move the pickup closer to the bridge. Think he used mainly for thingy in D
Those are great.But.I like the older Kelly models.Because I loved Explorers.But 3+ grand is😮
Love to see it!
WE ARE LIVING DEAD BEAT!
Really cool, thanks for sharing.
I own The King V KVTMG. The guitar chugs so hard. Best purchase of my life. Pair it with an EHX Hell Melter turned up to the max, holy sh#t, it kicks a$$.
I've never SEEN James played any Jackson?
Me either. He was ESP from the beginning of the company. Never have I saw a pic with a Jackson in his hands..... 🤔🤔🤔
He used it during the Master of Puppets touring cycle. He didn't gel with it much and the headstock got broken so he went back to his Explorers. It's currently in his collection and he even used it during the Hardwired sessions.
Ok. Cool. I saw Metallica in Lubbock on Clash of the Titans tour, saw the Puppets tour and The Justice for all tour. He didn't play em then, so it must have already got broken. Thanks for the update!
Shout out to the Heylmun Rhoads 7 for taking the next step
I know this is stupid as a Metallica fan but I had no idea James played Jacksons
I'm 45 & been listening to Metallica since 1990, and this is news to me. I've seen mostly ESP and Gibson. A few others sprinkled in. But I don't recall him ever playing Jackson. But apparently I'm wrong. I just looked it up and I guess The Het used a Jackson King V to record the Master of Puppets album through a Mesa MkIIC🤔🤪 Hmm, guess we do learn something new every day. Crazy.
@@dustinmullings2672he used it on some of the Ride the Lightning songs. It originally had Seymour Duncan Invaders. By the time he was touring for Master of Puppets, those electronics were swapped out for EMGs.
Jackson (and every other guitar brands) is not "combating off-market gaugers", they just see a way to make profit on recognizable guitars without having to officialy endorse guitarist and pay credits
I have an original Jackson Concept JRR-94 Rhoads. That thing punches faaaar above it's weight for what it is, I'm definitely going to take a look at these if they make it to UK shores, that Hetfield King V in particular.
The Jackson rr24 was supposed to be his signature model.
The white King V is awesome.
Hi Hunter, I just thought you'd like to learn that copper doesn't rust.
It oxidises and forms a green patina.
I use to have a MIJ RR5, wish they would bring that back. Toggle switch and independent volume for each pickup
Oxidized copper. Copper doesn’t rust. Love the shorts clips man. Keep up the good work.
I have 2 of these. King V and RR5
I’ve also seen a recent purple Jackson very similar to his “ripped” guitar
Alexi we miss you! RIP
Alexi laiho legend thanks for mentioning him
I want them to make King V with "SUSTAINE" written in cursive font 😂
Copper doesnt rust, it oxidizes. Which can be cleaned off, and you'll still have copper. Rust is the corrosion of Iron based metals like tin and steel. And iron. Rust happens from the inside out and destroys the metal. Just remember, Green will clean but Red and Brown are leaving town.
Now you know something about Metal.
But that rrt5 has been available for ages… and it has a satin finish clear coat neck as opposed to hammett’s rusty wich has a glossy black neck..
Really wish they would do a hot pink Rhoads like the Vinnie Vincent lick it up guitar
‘The early Bodom days’. Seriously, lol, I’m getting old.
Alexi was a long time user of Jackson and yes Metallica also used them from mid to late 80s... But we can't forget about Anthrax and Megadeth who's been using Jacksons for almost there entire career and yes sepultura's lead guitarist Andreas kisser and Slipknot's lead guitarist Mike Thomson are long term Jackson users... And if I am not wrong... Dave mustaine signature king v and Dan Spitz (Anthrax 's lead guitarist) signature teenage mutant Ninja turtles Rhoades V2 are maybe still at there as customs and Marty Friedman also used Kelly model during his time in Megadeth but then it got discontinued... So he's been using Jackson's lespaul... And we can't forget about Randy Rhoades... Rest in peace Randy and Alexi... We all miss u both... I LOVE JACKSON 🤘🤘🤘
I use jackson favourite 👍🤝
I wish there were mother of pearl inlays like the originals, instead of modern plastic inlays!
The last one could also be marty friedman
Zakk wyldes V is beautiful
I remember back in the day Alexi saying that although ESP sucked he went to them cause Jackson would no longer make him a deal. PS: i do not think ESP sucks but that was his view at the time.
Jackson need to bring back the Mustaine and Friedman 90s models
Not like a need another RR24 type guitar (yes I do)
RIP Alexi. (Also, "ai" in Laiho is proniunced like in "die", not like in "mayo".)
Long live Alexi!
The rrt5 is just Randy’s black Rhoads
I really wish that Jackson would offer Pro Series spec Soloists and Dinkys with actual shark fin inlays. None of the current models or the new Pro Plus guitars have them and you would have to get a more expensive MIJ series or a cheaper X series model to get those inlays. The Pro series King V and RR have them. What gives?
Wait why did James name his guitar kill bin jovi 😂
Jackson needs more lefty options
A 20 DB boost sounds excessive😂
Yeah I don't think that boost is gonna sound good with the EMG 81. But I am guessing a lot of people will do what I will do to it when I get mine. And that is to put a different pickup in it. In my case the legendary J-50BC and a JE-1000 boost.
Just 20 years late
The RR5 is a direct copy of a Jackson that was made for Randy Rhoads. Makes me sad that Agufish has such a shelter knowledge of metal legends.
I saw what you did here: so if Dean makes it it's not tasty but if Jackson does it it is 🤔
Ummm I believe Kirk took his idea from Randy. His was identical to Randy’s…. only many yrs later
Jackson profiting of showing Alexi the door when his guitars got stolen
They didn't show him the door, Alexi chose ESP when they said they could deliver him new guitars faster than Jackson.
@@mycustomyoutubechannel2539
Let me rephrase that:
Jackson told Alexi to "Go stand in line" like every other non-signed customer
Which made Jackson lose a very promising endorsement
I like how V’s look, and have owned a few different ones. It just doesnt work for me.
And none come in left handed
You can get the Edwards and some ltd Alexi in lefty though, I have a scythe as my main gigging guitar and a katakana on order
Get the best, fuck the rest
Roope Latvala s legendary t shirt.
..but no lefties.
Borrowed the Rhoads shape? ESP has been ripping off all other guitar shapes for years.
That’s great, but strats anyone.
Jackson died in the 90s.
Too bad Het's "kill bon Jovi" king v had Seymour Duncan invaders during the "...puppets" days. 🙄 Too many active pu guitars out there in the metal world.
What's wrong with Actives? I love a good classic 81 / 89 tone, I'm currently useing SD Blackwinters in my Schecter C-7 Blackjack SLSand love the extra bit of gnarly grit. I'm also loving the Fishman Modern Fluence on my Jackson DKA-R EX. Don't get me wrong, I love a good set of passives. In particular the Nazgul/Sentient set❤. Just curious what you dislike about active pickups. Most say they don't like the compression. But I'm interested to know.
@@dustinmullings2672 there is nothing "wrong" with actives; like most everything it all boils down to personal preference. Imho, it seems that active PUs have become staples in the metal world, as have bridge position only dimed volume and tone knobs; hell you may as just eliminate all the knobs. I just suppose it comes down to playing style. I learned to play á la Adam Jones and use the volume control as method of going between clean and dirty tones; passive pickups just do that better. It may be just the guitars as well, but I have an easier time hitting pinch harmonics with passive pickups. 🤷♂️
Even Laiho's EMG wasn't active...
@@dustinmullings2672 @dustinmullings2672 I'll share my opinion. I bought an RR with active EMGs (81/89 no less) full believing I'd like them. Any comments about "compression" and "icepick tone" the internet always shared didn't prepare me for the reality - I couldn't get them to work for metal rhythm at all. In fact, I flat out couldn't understand why so many metal players used them at all - with the exception being lead players, as the 81 is an EXCELLENT pickup for lead guitar. Maybe my favourite. However, the lack of pick attack was something I couldn't live with.... as for "grit", bah. My Ibanez with Deactivators (not overly hot pups) ate it alive. The DAs cut through a recorded mix better, too. It was so weird, I also found out I like the cleans of the 89 (although I found the coil tap useless, so I figure I basically like the tone of the 85). Nice and jangly and bell-like. Felt like they'd be good for country, but metal rhythms, the one thing I trusted they'd be good at, they weren't good at. Other positives - I fucking love the quick install thing, and I have nothing but good things to say about EMG's customer service.
I tried to make them work, I hit the internet. Some people said "put an 85 in the bridge", others said "try the new 81X it's better". Know what I did? I bought an 85X! Two birds with one stone. THAT played and sounded like an 81 mixed with a rather large goose. I ended up selling the guitar in impatience, which I slightly regret, but I didn't have DIY skillz and I wasn't prepared to throw the necessary money at it. If actives work for you, great. I wanted to like them, I really did.
