Since I'm 220 lbs, I find that "Vipers" work best. I use booties with these. I love "Da Fins" too, and I don't need booties because they're extra comfortable. However, Da Fins snap on bigger waves. In 2014, both my Da Fins snapped when a freak 10-foot wave came in at Pipe and I got caught inside. Thought I was going to die.
Thank you for the in depth review on flippers I needed this video just bought the old school Churchill’s and they keep causing fin rub and hurt my ankles
Hi Allen. Sorry to hear about your 'fun' rubs. Have you tried them with socks on? Or if the socks make your feet too big and the fins no longer fit then try the 'heel shields' which wrap around the heel strap. Personally I use the Pride Vulcan V1s because the heel strap is cut lower so it doesn't rub on my ankle bone. This does mean that the heel strap is more likely to slip off under impact so its super important to have laces or flippers savers on.
Personaly I didn't hesitated to cut the shoe of my fins at the location where there was severe rubs at the 5th metartasal bone tuberosity (you know the bump at the bottom of you foot little finger) which is quite large for me. Even with socks, it was still very painfull and one session will end up with a skin blister. Since I ravaged my fins I don't have this problem anymore and they haven't lost any quality for their purpose
Thank you for the video! Getting ready to buy a pair of bodyboard fins before I move to Costa Rica! I was going to buy the Churchill fins because of the shape for more drive. I have had full hip replacement surgery. After watching your video, now I know to buy symmetrical fins! Soft to medium compound. I have wide feet, so Limited Edition, Stealth or Viper fins! You really helped me out and helped me from making a wrong decision! Thank You!!!
As a diver and just got back into shark biscuits, I'm gonna try dive booties. Made of wet suit for dive fins. See how it goes. Thanks for the vid, here's my subscription. Cheers mate
Agree, fit is important. Still, to ensure an overall good experience regular training of your feet, ankles, shin and calf muscles and connective tissue is a good idea - some people put on a pair of fins with no never experiencing any physical exercise directly on the lower leg. If you have never exercised the lower leg in a direct manner, wearing any fin will cause some level of distress depending on your overall fitness level. Something as simple as regular walking in flat shoes with good space for your toes is a good start and eventually direct training of the lower leg to ensure a good and comfortable kick and traction on the wave.
I found my best fit was manta blacks, cutting the tips off blunt cut style, saved on the sea ulcers. Was super comfy. but pricy and i believe hard to find these days
Nice video. I want to see a video with some scientific comparisons on flippers and also kicking style. You could do it in a pool, band around your waist with a cord to a scale to measure force. a hanging type fruit scale on its side would work. Also a speed test comparison of fins would be interesting too. Cheers
Boss, I'm going to Bali this Christmas and work like to be surfing there, yes, body boarding. How could I contact you to you assist me and wife to get on the good waves beach? Definitely we will need gear for rent.
Thanks for the video. I’m switching to some Hydro Tech 2 fins cause my asymmetrical limited edition Sylocks have aggravated one of my ankles but before that i could feel them straining a bit with every session. My wife already has Hydro Tech 2 for exactly the same reason and she loves em.
I’ve been bodyboarding for over 25 years and still haven’t found the perfect fins for me. Churchills/limited edition are good for performance but cut my feet up badly. the old manta fins were too stiff and caused strain and foots cramps and average performance but didn’t cut my feet up. I remember the hydro fins where pretty comfy but control & performance average.
Bali Bodyboarding just got a pair of vulcans today and they fit perfectly. I’d like to hear about bodyboards size/shapes and how they relate to wave size/shapes
@@michaelsalazar7303 when did you buy them? i forget what year it was but they changed the rubber . they were malayasian rubber now they are chinese made . the chinese made are more hard. The only option is to get fin socks . unfortuanly buying fins is a hit or miss
@@BalibodyboardingIndo I tried to find ot but I think it was an instagram story that amaury posted back in approx. April. He was using an electric mini sander and said he has been doing it for years on all his flippers, as with Amaury it looked super refined and 100% legit

Thanks dude, the socks make my feet to big so I had to go with the ankle neoprene wraps with fin savers like you said!!! 😎🤙🏻🌊

Viper run. Narrow
Blunt cuts and Tech2's are still my favorites 👍🏾
Solid choice! We still have a few blunt cuts hanging around in our rental fins

Good video bro! I have a cuestión, How do you maintain the fins? Lubricación or something for longevity?
What size shoe do you wear thanks
Great professional and objective explanation on how to choose bodyboard swim fins. Thanks, was very helpful.

Still rockin the Scott Hawaii fin. I've never found anything close for power and comfort..
If you ever want some modern fins that are very similar to scotts, try Yucca's. I love them!
@@davidvines6048 Do you prefer standard or soft flex?
@@downwitakrowdy soft would probably be closer to the stiffness of Scotts, but i prefer standard for that extra power.
Any recommendations for a wide foot 🦶
Perfect Video...👌..where you stay with your shop/scool? Funny Guy..😂🏄🏻♂️😜🏖 .. greets from Switzerland..🇨🇭
Ive been using viper over 20 or 25 years, I dont remember 🤣
Thank you very much
Can you do one for what bodyboards to get for each countries surf?
What other gear/brand providers do you carry on location?

Nice. Tnx 4 the tips.Greetings from Perú 🌊🤙🇵🇪
What do you think abou DaFin?
Personally I haven't tried them however I know a few people who say they are amazing. Definitely worth trying out.
The only thing you need to know is get Vulcan V3 Limited Edition. Very comfortable, but also very rigid and powerful.
they are a great fin! Im all about the Viper delta at the moment!
I use the Rip Force from Force fins USA. They are the best but damn expensive
Yeah! Thanks heaps
Our pleasure Guilherme!! Let us know if there’s any other Hacks you would like to see!
