The "company" you are keeping is dragging you down. I appreciate the respect you have for the abandoned places you film. I've seen you pick up pictures and place them on tables before. I can hear in your voice that you are truly touched by what you see. Others you travel with obviously could care less. That is sad....

SLOW DOWN!!!!!!!! STOP slinging the camera around. STOP and stand still so WE can focus AND figure out what you are seeing! You miss so much ! You say "look at the xxx" --- but then you go by so fast we cannot see anything. We can't even stop the video in focus to see anything - freeze frames are blurry. Also, please show the FURNITURE!!! The BOTTOM parts of the furniture. The legs on one of the tables were wonderful. Show the DOORS and FIREPLACES & MANTLES. You miss so much that shows how things were constructed and how people lived. For example- the coin operated electricity - I've never heard of coin operated electricity -- we don't have it in the US -- some explanation would have been nice and educational. AND --- stop with the judgments. Only other hoarders understand "how can people live like this" -- you never will --- but you ask the question over and over. Regardless, it's doubtful the house was in that condition when occupied. And, nobody invited you to go inside so if you don't like what you see --- LEAVE! Otherwise, open your eyes to all the neat stuff around you - pottery, furniture, light fixtures, door knobs, books, sideboards, tables, chairs, beds, and, and, and -- the list is endless. What was that "air" thing beside the corner sink? You reached up to an electrical something above it but never showed it to us. What was it?
FINALLY - we won't be watching your videos anymore if you won't slow down your camera and stop making judgments regarding the items in the house and the former residents.

Your assumptions may not be fair. It's quite possible that the house was NOT in a hoarder's condition when they either died or left the house....it's apparent that there has been a lot of looting and vandalism....ripping through drawers and cupboards, etc and just flinging them onto the floor. (Probably looking for money). And also, if there were any relatives, they may have also rushed in and taken what they wanted, piling dishes on counters, etc. and then just left the rest there in a huge mess. I have to agree with Kaz in regards to the two girls and their buddies, who were also there. They were loud, obnoxious and grossly disrespectful to the memory of the late owners. Kind of wished you had come back at some other time when they weren't there. (Haunted??)

They took away from the seriousness of the abandon house at first. Once they were gone your respect for the dead and gone shone through again. You have a way of making us feel like we are right there with you, feeling the loss and tragedy of people long gone and possessions left behind. Dave you are very good at this. You have a true kindship with these properties and a caring that many young people today do not have. God bless you. I know you will succeed at what you are doing. My favorite part was the addition to the main house and the little room up the ladder. I just wonder who lived up there? Was it a daughter, a granddaughter, friend of the family? Where is everyone now? Why didn't anyone take over the house. Please try and find some history. Your friend from Delaware USA BARBARA SNYDER

That annex has two kitchens, & one and a half bathrooms, which is pretty unbelievable. When I first saw the second one. I wonderd if a herbalist used it to cook up remedies, because of all the bottles. Maybe used one of the rooms to see patients? But then a herbalist would likely have Cider Vinegar & Vodka, (used to make tinctures) rather than Malt Vinegar & Whiskey.
Possibly it was used as a place to allow young people to have space apart from parents, & arranged in such a way they would, just about, feel they each had their own place.. Some foster parents do that.
Or maybe it was used as rooms to let. I used to know several people who rented places a bit like that annex. Some of them with no bath or shower & the only sink in the kitchen, often an outside loo. If you were lucky an arrangement to use the landladies bath once a week. It seemed to be acceptable in 1980s Devon, sometimes 1990s too. That would have been quite a nice place really.

It is so sad that someone has had to leave their home. What fate lies behind it. It is sad and unfortunate that someone enters the house to destroy what is left behind. What do those people have in their heads other than stupidity and evil and no respect. Thank you to you and the way you act. Greetings from Denmark.

Oh I wish I could go there with someone & clear it up. If the furniture was put back against the walls & things put back in the cupboards & arranged neatly I dont think you would find it was that much stuff. I dont think its a hoarders house at all.

Dave you’re so very respectful of the homes of those who have past. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the other people there. I think you should stay with sensitive people like yourself and not bother with those who lack human decency.

I’m sure the people didn’t live like that. Vandals went into the house and emptied every cupboard and drawer and threw it all on the floor. When you throw around a bunch of papers, you can create quite the mess. They pulled everything out of the cabinets and then threw the cabinet on the pile too. They did miss a few things. But they’ll be back because destroying other people’s property is soooo fun. Thank you for the tour!

This was a fascinating old home. Although it was over-full of stuff, I doubt the home was kept in bad shape when it was lived in. Likely it was cluttered but neat. Dishes were organized still in the cupboards, the bird cage was framed by the pretty-curtained window, and there were lots of books and cozy nooks for reading or writing letters. It's sad that all their interesting clutter, clothes and books had been dumped in the floor by looters. It's hard for old people to organize and throw out excess stuff--I'm nearing 60 and healthy, but I don't have the energy I once had. Also, as one's friends and relatives die, it's hard to part with items that carry memories. Please don't mistake their senta"mental"ity as being "mental." That little side house was so cute. If you slipped on the ladder-stair, your bum would end up on the stove top! (and why were there two kitchens in that tiny side house?) The white tiled fireplace in there was Art Deco---late 1920's to '30's. I would love to know more about this home and the folks who lived there!

That little tiny fridge in the main kitchen is so cute! I have never seen anything like that. I was wondering how the lady was able to go up and down those steep stairs to her bedroom. At first I thought all that mess was from the vandals but then I realized she must be a hoarder. I bet that annex part was really adorable in it’s heyday

They say some people become hoarders because they have lost someone they can’t replace. Add to that the rifling through of the belongings by unsavory people afterwards. Wrecking a home once loved. Clearly the wife died and no one cared about any of her belongings to take memories she possessed. Very sad. I don’t think she intentionally left her home a mess. We can “thank” others for that.

The damned place just breaks my heart it's so beautiful. You know they probably carried out the little old lady that lived there in a body bag 20 or more years ago. Some one found money in it that's why it's torn up.

Dennis Velez I think you are right. Most older people I know of (and I am 68) are organized. All that stuff was, I am sure, in drawers, wardrobes, cupboards, boxes and bins, and sorted too. Right now I am thinking about a close family member who is 97, who lived through the war. Her home is as tidy as could be, but if her belongings and keepsakes (to her) were emptied and scattered, her home would probably look the same.

These things just happen sometimes, I would have never thought it but after my Dad passed away my Mom went through a mental change. I don’t think she ever threw anything away again and I think it was a security thing. There is also a lot of vandalism probably a lot from those girls and everyone else that’s been in there. Everyone is not like you guys.
