I love how you pioneered the Ian Knot! I've been tying my shoes this way since like 2016/2017 after seeing and saving an ifunny video with this technique that blew my mind. So cool that you invented that!
Thanks, it's equally cool that you've been enjoying the technique long before discovering its origin. Congratulations on learning it, and may you continue enjoying the “Ian Knot” throughout your lifetime.
as an american I just got european shoes. they came with laces not strung in and this is what I was going for!!! easy tutorial to follow thanks so much!!!
How i ever went years before I found your channel Professor Shoelace! I’m now a sub & I love your tutorials bc u explain w/detail & demonstrate as you go along making sure to put emphasis on certain points! All the other lace tutorials are way too fast & without any voice at all & if that wasn’t bad enough most just put up a fast slideshow of pics with no verbal interaction what so ever but yet they ppl to understand & learn from pictures!! So glad I found this channel bc now wheneve I wanna switch laces/lace style I can just come to Professor Shoelace & I know it’s gonna be a PERFECT PROPER TUTORIAL WITH VERBAL & DEMONSTRATION ON YOUR SHOE!
Thanks, it's nice to be appreciated. It's not easy to make a concise video that still explains everything well enough! Nice to know that my efforts have earned me another subscriber.
I just bought a pair of Supergas in Madrid and I could not figure out how to lace the one the saleswoman did not lace for me. This was so easy to follow. Thank you!
I switched my dress shoes from the standard bar lacing to this. It helps me tighten the shoes better. Also since I have small feet i prefer that this method shortens the laces.
If you're screaming in delight - go ahead and scream! But if you're screaming in frustration, maybe try my website, which has detailed, step-by-step diagrams and instructions.
If you mean 11 pairs of eyelets, then yes, Straight European Lacing will work for any number of eyelet pairs. My website only goes up to eight pairs, but that's because I had to find a cutoff point somewhere!
On shoes with an odd number of rows of eyelets (eg. five rows), one end will pass through one more row than the other end. This will result in uneven end lengths when the lacing is completed. To compensate, begin the lacing with both ends initially adjusted to the same length, then - taking a mental note of the length of the bottom horizontal section - pull the left end out by that amount. This simultaneously shortens the right end by the same amount and thus cancels out the length of the “extra trip” across the shoe and back.

Never thought you'd make a RUclips channel. Your website alone has helped me be different from other people in lacing my shoes. :D

How interesting! Your story validates the “European” tag. Great to hear that this video helped you to get both of your Supergas laced equally.
Love this...very awesome channel!! Thank you for sharing such an awesome shoe lace tie. God bless you.
Thanks, I'm glad your liking my shoelace videos and that you found one lacing method in particular that suits you.
#1 thank you for the help!
#2 that’s an OG iPhone!
#1 You're most welcome!
#2 Actually, it's *not* an iPhone but an old iPod Touch.
Amazing! That shoelace site helped a lot. Appreciate the video! 💗
You're welcome, Jackie. I'm pleased to hear that you also visited and enjoyed the website.

More people go the other way - switching *TO* bar lacing. Great that you could see some worthwhile advantages using this technique, Samuel.
Can't believe I'm watching this! But thanks for your help!!

I was wondering how those luxury sneakers were tied, thanks!
You're most welcome. Enjoy the classic lacing for your classic footwear.
Thank you. Ordered European shoes and though they started the lacing wrong 😂 I see it now
Great that you were able to give your European shoes their namesake lacing.
I want to scream watching this video over and over.

can this work for a 11 boot eyelet?

Hi, do start with even lengths? I keep finishing with one side too short and one side too long.
On shoes with an odd number of rows of eyelets (eg. five rows), one end will pass through one more row than the other end. This will result in uneven end lengths when the lacing is completed. Thanks, Eve.

Good?

Europeans invented pragmatism. There is no reason for them to tie there shoes that way!
