Kasi Flava is indigenous to South African football. It is a set of outrageous skills or tricks displayed in an attempt to entertain fans and humiliate opponents. Kasi Flava takes extreme showboating and insane tricks or skills to a whole different level. Kasi Flava means Location/Township Flavor, it is basically tricks you usually see from Street footballers , ball jugglers or Freestyle footballers, the difference is that in South Africa you get a breed of players who pull of this tricks in a Professional game.
South Africans are divided, some feel its disrespectful, waste of time, and shows lack of focus and professionalism, This view is held mostly by people who also follow European football, EPL, La Liga, etc they feel European football should be an example, if South Africa is to conquer the world.
Then the 2nd group feel its entertaining and funny, I fall in this second group, I think this group is the majority, Some people say, South Africans do not care much about goals, if you do those tricks, they will be satisfied, the idea is score 2 or 3 goals, secure the game and then start tricks, no need to score 8 goals, makes no difference to the results, right?
Even coaches are divided, some do not want it at all, while others allow it in the last 5 minutes, on condition the team has secured a win, do it for the fans.

The problem isn't the use of skills its knowing when and how to use them that destroy's SA Football, I remember once when I used to play local league football there was a team that came in from the township. They were constantantly trying to pull of outrageous skills and humiliate us, instead we just kept pinching the ball and quickly breaking their lines and the game ended up being 18-0, they came to showboat and we came to win, individually every player on my team was probably not as good as the opponent but we played as a team and most importantly knew when and where to use flair.

I think different countries have different styles of football, as a football/soccer fan I believe that's what makes the sport unique and enjoyable when I watch the EPL, I feel the fast "pacedness" of the game basically moving the ball forward and countering. with Brazilian football it's like their doing the Samba dance you enjoy the showboating with a focus on tactical play, with South African its a bit slow in terms of pace but its enjoyable to watch a match because of that kasi flavour, german football is extremely rough and tactical, I was just shocked that the guy called our football crap that's a bit too exaggerated, to be honest

Kona it doesn’t make sense, this is more of a street soccer than playing to win. Flavour and skill can still be shown while going for goal by dribbling opponents not these. I guess that’s why we’re more interested in European soccer than SA. Look at Vinicius for Madrid, he’s a skilful player who dribble opponents and make them look like kids, Ronaldinho’s of this world. PSL isn’t a place of such skills
This is a game, not war. Of course players play to win, but remember, they’re still playing, and playing is meant to be fun.

I'm south african and what I don't like about it is that I've seen players do it while their team is losing or the score is level and they do it not under any pressure wasting time late in the second half. It's time wasting and isn't productive at all. I can't say I'm a fan of it
