You can tell that the devs really did their best with the time and experience they had, and they focused on making it really faithful to the anime. I also find the minigames really endearing and just fun enough for the most part? The weird thing was, where the heck was Franky?
It might be a simple game but it has a lot of heart and soul and I would play this any day of the year over something like JJK Cursed Clash, the JJK game felt like it was made out of spite
Besides not being really worth 100% seems like a cute alright game, especially if you’re a fan of the series. Love everything is voice acted, just kinda sucks there’s no English dub option as well.
I've been streaming this, and I have most of us watching are not familiar with the source material. I've not seen the series myself, but picked this up because I am a grappling hook hiker and take a lot of nature photos, so I wanted to try a game about photography. I feel like with this, expectations are everything. If you go into this expecting an action spy game, you are definitely going to be disappointed. It's very much a more wholesome slice of life type game. And I think that is where this game's true strength is. The people I have seen enjoying the play-through the most are the ones who had a very troubled family life and childhood; people life dealt a really bad hand to. Getting a look at a stable and loving family and home-life through this game has really had a noticeable impact on some of the people I've seen watching. I have very noticeably seen folks that were in a difficult mental state show tramendous improvement after spending a few days with Anya, to the point that this game has been requeted more than any other I've ever played. The wholesome family situations, the relatable but not too extreme, school situations (Damian is a bit of a bully but nothing exceptionally oppressive in this game), and dressing up Anya in more and more costumes as we unlock them. Seeing them laugh and adore the various photo situations. This game may not have mass appeal, but there's definitely a certain set that this game is a hit with, and those in that specific set really adore it. I think this is a prime example of "One man's trash is another man's treasure." There are definitely certain people that are turned away by overly difficult, frustrating, and complex games. But for folks that are struggling with life challenges, mental well-being challenges, or someone that's suffered a tragic loss, this game is pressing all the right buttons. I've had some thank me for broadcasting this because it was exactly what they needed to get through their tough situation. For the most part, I agree with your review. The game will not appeal to a lot of people, especially to your stereotypica "hardcore gamer" looking a deep and super engaging game. The $50 - $70 price tag is a really tough pill to swallow, even for fans of the source material. Even me, a woman that's really enjoyed the game, would recommend most wait for a sale. But I really do feel like this game deserves special recognition as a very legitimate option for folks facing tough life situations, troubled family situatios, or just need an escape without the frustrations and mental exhaustion that a more complex game demands. In that regard, you'd be hard pressed to do better than Anya. She has a way of making everything seem better. And I've seen that 1st hand this last week. This game won't be winning any Game of the Year awards, but it definitely will be Game of the Year for some people that really needed a pick me up.
This is my favorite anime game of the year so far. All the game really needs is more content in terms of dlc. Next time though I hope they go heavy on a life simulation game for it. Something like the Sims but a little bit more limited and focused on the original cast but allow custom characters
@@Echo-nn8dt No, the key word was "slightly," meaning they're saying that it's only a little bit better than the Bluey game. Neither of these games would even get nominated for GOTY, let's be honest.
As a fan of the series....this wasn't necessary. No, I haven't played it. But from the looks of it, it's not MY type of game. Speaking of which, Spy X Family works as a Manga and show. Not a video game. I hate to say it, but this game only exist because of the name. They know how popular the show is. So let's take advantage of it. The industry is like, if somethings popular, it HAS to have a video game adaptation. Also, how in the living hell is there no English Dub? Not to put down the Japanese VAs. They do an excellent job too! But Spy X Family has one of the BEST dubs in anime! The VAs make me laugh SO HARD! And when it comes to sad and serious moments, they're performances really get me! Bandai was really being cheap and lazy not rehiring the English VAs! Which goes to show this was just a quick cash grab. The English VAs alone, I PROBABLY would have givin this a try, PROBABLY. But no thank you. Pass. Still waiting on Season 3.
I'm sorry, did you say "unfortunately" it's only voiced in Japanese? You mean thank the Gods? You sound like majority of Americans who only can handle their own language.

honestly, the game's name is operation memories, so that gives away this is more slice of life than spy action

It isn't a problem, but it hinders anymore potential sales they could have made. Not all fans are sub only.

Why should we be grateful? Plenty of other anime games like Naruto and DBZ offer both languages. Having more options is always better.
