This mod adds voice acting to all 2,100+ lines of dialogue in the game with professional mixing and effects, all implemented into a single mod!

Fun fact: This was originally going to be a personal fan trailer made for fun. I tried adding some voice lines to the small section I'd made and it was so good that JohnCorby asked if I wanted to turn it into the real thing!
Also, the mixing and effects added to some lines really bring it all together.. all the subtle stuff - voices sounding like they're inside helmets, ambience.. top tier, top tier. These effects are, understandably, not in the trailer, though.
If Feldspar doesn't sound like a grizzled Southern biker, I will be momentarily disappointed. What an incredible project, if only I had a PC.

Getting to work on this was a great time! Took a while, but glad to see it's all finished! Thank you to everyone who was involved with this, especially the mixers who did almost all the work. We made a thing!!
The amount of love and dedication I see from the Outer Wilds community is truly a sight to behold and I am thankful for every single modder's passion and patience. Thank you for giving me reasons to replay the game again and again and discover all the possibilities to enjoy it to its max.
To think we got all the way here more than a year and a half later. I'm insanely happy that we not only managed to get it done so well with so many passionate people, but that we also got it done before 2024! Happy New Year's Everyone and thank you for being a part of this!
This was a genuine blast. And I got to help make something really cool, so no complaints from me.

Got goosebumps from the trailer even despite how much time I've sunk into the base game and DLC. Will be a good excuse to revisit it just to hear everyone's performance and hard work, that's fsure. Gonna be weird hearing myself tho lol

IMO AI usage should not be a problem for small time projects like this. It's the big studio's we should be disallowing using it, because they have the budget for proper voice acting
@@martijnp "proper" voice acting is all self-propagating circlejerk whose conventions can change whenever new voice actors come forward with different delivery styles. Look at how mutated female character voices have become in many animes, then imagine you may be blind to oddities in your own local media
@@quantumblur_3145 anime has a very distinct style of expressive voice acting which is not really fit for general low action circumstances. Also, the energy in that voice acting is consistently high energy, high expression, not a mix between low and high in a single sentence
In any case, voice acting in a lot of cases is supposed to sound natural, or at least come across as natural. Some expression is exaggarated, but the intonation in some of the clips for this mod is way off and it just doesn't flow.
Again, I get this is free so this is not criticism or saying it "should" be better, but to say this is a style on its own and not a hobby project made by amateur voice actors is dense af
Quite a monumental undertaking, especially for a fan project! A labor of love, I'm sure.
My only apprehension is that it would more concretely "gender" the Hearthians in a way that the game explicitly doesn't, but that's a minor quibble considering it's our natural tendency to do that in our heads anyway.
Yeah! I personally think the Hearthians are a one-gender species... Like some (guess) fishes, lizards, and the gecko! The Nomai have 2 genders, as we can see multiple times in our exploration, they even have some dating between a established male and a established female, as well as the words "brother" and "sister". You can see, from Esker's annotations, if I remember it correctly, that two Hearthians were flirting with each other... so it can be that they're actually hermaphrodite, which is a lot more common among fishes... And they say "they" all the time just because they could be both male or female at the time (or male and female at the same time, some fishes are _really_ weird).

ooooh, yeah, that line almost made the cut but the trailer felt too dominanted by hearthian voices (and it was during the 2nd half) so I replaced it with a nomai line!

Bro gotta have a voice actor agency someday , would be cool if a mod like this for street fighter 6 because a lot of the character building lies in text only
I played through the entire game with the voice-acting mod and I loved it. I don't like reading so this gave me a significantly more enjoyable experience! Everyone did a great job.
I just wanted to ask, I captured a few outer wilds clips that had this voice-acting mod active. Is it alright if I post them while including a link to the mod in the description?

...Marshmallow on a stick, this might be *_exactly_* what I've been looking for. Are there any restrictions or guidelines for using the mod in a playthrough? For a while now I've pondered the idea of _Hatchling's Mind,_ giving the _Freeman's Mind_ treatment to Outer Wilds, but the dialogue being exclusively text-based was an obstacle I couldn't think of a workaround for... _this could potentially work ::)_
-(...of course, this also makes me wonder if The Hatchling is -_-also-_- voiced in this mod, and how to silence -_-only-_- their lines if so... since it'd be hella weird for their "scripted" lines, and my live commentary, to have clearly different voices... kinda what i had to do years ago in my SimCopter playthrough, to replace the in-game copter loudspeaker announcements with my own... ah, i see there's a template for modding this mod, that makes things easier i suppose!)- _waaaaiiiit a minute, i think i know what it means by "You" being voice acted ;;)_

And, yes, a certain secret character's loud screaming is voice acted, although the actual player's dialogue choices are not as they are selected immediately

they do definitely put a little too much intonation on these sentences, it sounds all over the place. But no clue how it sounds in the actual mod and its a free download after all

Let me remind you that this mod can also chime in as an accessibility mod, helping out other people who couldn’t play the game but wanted to (I.e dyslexia).
