- DODGE JOURNEY BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR REMOVAL REPLACEMENT TEST. FIAT FREEMONT
In this video we will show you how to get to the blend door actuator and explain how to replace it on Dodge Journey / Fiat Freemont. In Europe Fiat Freemont is actually Dodge Journey and that is why it should be the same procedure to replace the blend door actuator motor. We will demonstrated how to replace the blend door actuator motor on a 2012 Dodge Journey but it should be the same for the whole generation.

You guys are life savers. I'm a girl... which normally means when I see a mechanic, they assume I know nothing. Tried to tell me $1200 to fix heat on passenger and air on drivers. I fix for 35 bucks!
Emily Hefner same! One Machanic told me the part alone was $175 plus labor. I went to Auto Zone and bought it for $23 plus tax with a 10%. I watched this video and fixed it my self. They are money savors for real. ♥️
I charge 80 - 150 plus parts depending on the trouble
Perfect, that's all I needed to see. The location of the passenger temp actuator.
Need a video that shows rear air actuator. The blower motor on my Journey is strong but no air from vents in rear
Thanks. I checked my actuators; they were fine. I then checked the cabin filter and it was clogged full of dirt, etc. Replaced it and problem solved. Thanks.
Thank you dear ones!!!! I fixed it myself with my friend holding a flesh light and my neighbour's tools :) ha! Thank you! God bless you and all who watches :)
always helps when your friend holds the flesh light for you ;)
Can you post a video of the accuator on the drivers side of this vehicle?
Awesome information from you guys, I changed the touchscreen in my 2015 Journey, and fixed my Passenger air actuator with help from your videos.
Thank you for the information, I was able to successfully replace the part and its working fine now. The passenger side vents were blowing hot air when the ac was set to coldest. I removed the old part and it was jammed, the gears were not moving. Working fine now.
Nice video, thanks.
I could not find the video showing the driver side actuator.
Do you have a video for it?
Your videos are awsone saved lots of money did my struts now going to do blend motor ndebatongon doing pressure sensor
How do you take the bottom of the dashboard off to get to the drivers side blend actuator
You guys are getting a subscribe from me before I took it to the mechanic I looked in my glove box to see that my actuator motor wasn't broken but it just disconnected itself from the damn mounts that it was so I was wondering why I was only coming out my rear blowers I just reconnected the motor with some screws and now all my issues are resolved I'm game cool cool air through my front vents bro and it feels nice in New Jersey where it was 98 degrees today thanks
Thank you for your help, God bless you guys
You guy are awesome. Just Subscribed
2012, driver side blows kinda warm while passenger side blows cold. Replaced heater core, thermostat and actuators. Any ideas?
This is helpful. Yours is the only video I've found on this topic that refers to the one most likely to go out as the "mode actuator," a term which makes sense. Everyone else refers to it as the blend door actuator, which refers to temperature blending, not air outlet directing. The one thing I question is your mention for the need for calibration on the mode actuator. Other installers suggest that since the connection gear itself is "keyed," you can just pop it on the "cam" and it will work properly.
Whats the name of that part which controls air direction? Couldnt find it anywhere
I still love my Journey but I have to come back every spring to remember which and where the actuator is after long winters of blowing heat... Mine always sticks blowing heat to the passenger side. Happy for winter to be over. HAPPIER for videos like this.
Thank you. Stay safe.
See you next year - same bat time - same bat channel.
Mine blows hot only to passenger side cold and hot work fine for driver. I am trying to find out which actuator is not working?
@@giggleherz open glove box - pinch hinges in and open further to allow glove box to drop down out of the way. Left side and back down in is white plastic actuator arm. As temp setting is turned up and down the arm should move up and down. Tap on it as changing the temp and it should free up. Mine did it again this year.... Hope this helps
@@macanocious3000 OK I will give it a try ty for your help.
@@giggleherz YW let me know what you find please
@@macanocious3000 I think I found the arm but no noticeable movement.
We paid a fortune for this car because it was the first time we could afford to buy. We love it but now its over ten years old so all the plastic parts are bound to start breaking. It is a dealer car with all the features including man/auto drive, and rear heating and cooling. I have already replaced one actuator so I know the dealers are making a fortune. Question is when do you stop spending and buy a new one?
For me. My air blows fine but passenger side doesn’t blow hot air. Only cooler air. And same with rear passenger. Is it the actuator?
Dear World Mechanics, Does the 2011 Dodge Journey SXT 3.6L VVT have a Heater Core valve that controls the flow of Hot coolant from the engine to heater core ? If so, what temperature does it open and allow hot coolant to the heater core. If not, does the hot coolant run through the heater core full time ? thanks for your answers and videos.
For a 2016 DJourney do you have to take the dash and seat out to replace blender door.
Can you manually calibrate the mode door actuator? If so how do you do it?
Thank you very much
Same car I get cold air on driver side and rear. Passenger blows full hot. Once and a great while it works. Is this the mode actuator or the passenger control
Do these actuators control the temperature? When I put mine to
A/C it blows hot air? Started on the passenger side and now the middle and passenger side only blows hot air.
Mine had 3 the 2 u pointed out and one way up top toward back it was hell
How do you change the one on the driver side?
Hi do you guys have a video that shows how to install a heater core? Front and Rear?
Hello World Mechanics.... can you please send me the link to remove the ac actuator for the driver side, 2010 Dodge Journey/Freemont.
Is there also an actuator on the driver side and if so how to access that one? In the video you said you would show how to but never did.
Hey got a question my vents up top won’t blow but the bottom and the defroster will
How to replace the white piece that is connecting to the damper inside the housing and connects to the actuator?
There is a fuse for the actuator?
Hi. Im having that clicking noise but when i open the glove box its coming from the right side. Opposite side of those two motors you showed us. Which motor did you say is on the right side?
Does anyone know of video of how to replace the ac actuator for the driver's side of this car? 2010 Dodge Journey
How to calibrate the new part??
Which one controls the back air
I have a 2011 Dodge Journey SXT, the heating system is not working properly, the driver side is fine but the passenger side blows cool air. What could be the problem?
Help please.
Heater core might be clough
How do you get everything apart to get to the actuator ?
Can you show the drivers side?
@World Mechanics..... Where is the video to show how to access the actuator on the driver's side?
I changed all of the and still no ac in the from only in the back what could it be
2011 Dodge Journey Crew same issue inconsistent temperatures on driver and passenger sides in heating mode. Heater temperature core in and out pipes all good. I noticed there was a wire with 2 pin/plug connector that is hanging i am pretty sure that for them main motor. I will let you know the results.
Thanks for telling us the results
What is the part # of the recirc actuator ? The one u replaced in this video
There all the same
Both motor/actuators the same model?
Can’t find the accuator location for the rear heat/Ac any ideas?
hi my air blend actuator on some positions doesn't move at all. it moves on face and feet but it doesnt blow any on wind shield ? help pls
Solved ?
Hey guys! You are awesome! But i really need your help. I dont know how to contact you. My problem is that my windscreen is misty. I put it manually on full speed to windscreen only and it just is not blowing hard enough even tho the blower is at full speed. Maybe you can help me
So I have issues with my headlights. They will turn off on there own while driving or anytime really. Have read that the vehicle computer will randomly start shutting things off when there is an issue. Now my passenger side will not blow heat. Could this be the main cause for the computer problems?
After tracing down low air flow at the vents it turned out to be a clogged cabin air filter just above the fan.... This is the first vehicle I've owned thats had one..... removed the clogged filter and it'll blow your hair back.....
I got a driver side it’s hot passenger side is called so which Blonder door should be to change
hi so i replaced my blend mode actuator same as the video but only 2 modes work the front and bottom vents do i just need recalibration? thank you in advance.
I have problem with my dodge journey 2012. Its too foggy during winter or rainy season. The heater is working very well. And the fan blows really good too. I cant figure out whats going on. Help please. 🥺
What year is this?
Where is the link for recalibrating
Heres my issuse: no heat on drivers side. 2010 Journey, dual climate control
I have a small amount of heat on passengers side once it heats up. I have checked all actuators and they're all working. heat core has heat, very hot to touch, still no heat on drivers side.
I have noticed the volume of air greatly reduce when I switch air temp from low to hi.
Do you think I have heat core issue that needs a flush? why would volume of air reduce from low temp to hi temp?
does air pass through the heater core or does it blow by it?
could the heat core itself have a blockage that wont allow air to pass through it?
thanks
does anyone know if all 4 acutators are the same part or is there different ones?
Different.. left door and right door blend acuator..
I need help with something but my ac blows hot air while idle
2014 journey, passenger side when using AC blows warm air. How to fix?
Having same issue
i have the same problem today, i think it might be the air filter because thats what they told me on my last service appointment
Did you resolve this issue and wouldn't it be the passenger side blend door actuator?
@@jeffkreimes5279 yes that's exactly what it was .
does anyone have an answer for this. I took my dodge journey into the dealer I've only had it since Jan 6th 2021. and I've taken it in 3 times now. and its still not working. at first I told them it could be the actuator because I was not getting any hot air on the passenger side. 1) they "cleaned" out the heater core. still didn't work the next day. took it in again 2) they "cleaned" the heater tubes? even though I mentioned again the actuator, and also said to them that the vent on the dash does not work when I change it to vent/floor the floor works but the dash nothing blows out. took it in again 3) they replaced the heater core compleatly. I did not leave the parking lot I checked the heat on both sides where good. but the vent still is not blowing air out. I brought two tech guys over they are like aaaahhh we have to call Dodge I have a friend who works there and I think this is "normal" i'm like what? its normal for no air to blow out when you change it to vent.. come on.. I'm sure its the actuator doors and if they need to be calibrated they are LAZY and don't want to do the work.. I'm almost out of my 3 month warranty and they've had my car for at least 3 weeks.
Good day I have a 2012 Dodge Journey I need to get to the rear heater core the rear heater core what is the most efficient way to get to it please and thank you you can’t reach me here you can get me at try to get back to me thank yo
Hello all,
I need help with my 2016 dodge journey ac. When I turn to the left, the air shift like its being blocked and water leaks on the passenger's side floor board. Can somebody tell me what it might be. Thanks in advance
There is a hose on the firewall that doesn't connect to anything. It's to drain the condensation out of a pan under the AC coils. It is probably plugged up. I had a vehicle that did that to. Found out Dirt Dobbers had built a nest in it.
Unfortunately, there's not a screwdriver on Earth that will access the furthest forward screw (even if you could see it)...assuming that the first two haven't already sucked the will to live from your body as it is.
I'm hearing clicking in the rear of my 2009 dodge journey when I turn on my rear ac
@YOU MITCH!! Did you ever figure out what that clicking was? My ac works in the rear but im getting a slight clicking.
@@erickruvalcaba2331 rear blend door actuator is bad
Not easy to remove i tried every possible way i couldnt remove it
I have 2011 journey, there are 3 phillips screws to take out. Not 2. The 3rd screw there is very little room for removal as you cannot get a small socket with a Phillips bit to remove it. A very poor design and so much wrong info on videos.
I just break the tap off by moving it back and forth. You're replacing that part anyway. I never put the 3rd screw back on the new one. Seems to be holding just fine.
I have a 2012 Dodge Journey crew try to put a new actuator in there but it keeps going way too far no matter how I put it in there do I got to calibrate it first
Have you ever figured this out?
