I’ve seen a lot of movies, and read a lot of books classified as “coming of age” stories and I’m pretty sure it just means the protagonist is 12-16 years old and literally nothing else.
I think the secret really is that a real coming of age story simply cannot be compressed into a single book or movie. it would need to be a long series where a character grows very slowly over the course of hours of watchtime to be satisfying

Isn't established in the sequels that the sister is way more powerfull than her and that's why she barely is in them?
@ Is that why? I just thought since 3 and 4 focused on school, the writers couldn't think of a way to write her in logically.
