- So here it is, my latest purchase and it's another vivid slice of Ford 90's goodness!
I have a dilemma! Do i carry on with my plans and modify this cool modern classic into a low, fat 'southend style cruiser' or do i keep it standard and sell it on to someone who will appreciate this modern classic Ford?
Maybe you'd like to buy it! If so you can contact me by email. My email address is johnny@johnnygetscash.com
Enjoy!

Personally, I would keep it original as you say it is such a clean example
Nice original Escort Si cabrio too good to modify
I don't think spending 2 grand on the wheels and a bumper will be worth it for any extra fun factor, just patch the bumper scuffs, new exhaust tip and get it gleaming, reckon you would enjoy using it over summer just as much.
Hi Johnny, good to see you back..I would keep it standard (as others have said smart repair both bumpers & do your usual magic of a deep clean) then sell it on 👍🏻
What a little minter 🔥 it might just be the camera, but the front bumper looks a slightly different color to me?
I have only just started watching the series of videos on the Si, and like you said any modifications you do could easily be swapped back as most are nuts and bolt parts, just store the original parts somewhere safe. I love a bit of Old Skool Ford, as being 54 now I grew up around these. But I would definitely look into changing the wheels for a set of 17" Diamond Cut RS7's and swapping that bonnet to be one from the Mk5 RS2000 to give it slightly more aggressive look, along with the rear bumper as you also mentioned. Other than that I'd keep it as it is. It certainly reminds me of my old Tourmallard Green Mk6 RS2000. 😃
The Si was a pleasure to work on. It has now gone off to it's new home where I am certain it will be cherished & continue to prove to be a sound investment for the new owner. That being said, part of me always wants to keep cars like this for myself!
I would say keep it factory
If you want to add value to the car, get the enginebay sorted out, paint the engine(covers) Ford blue, get it all clean, and do some rust prevention on the chassis/bottem, also If you have the funds hold on to it for a couple of years until the market can appreciate this car a little bit more, original rare spec cars always sell for good money
I think the Si 1.8 came with all the stuff like power roof etc. The best bit was 130bhp zetec and rear discs. Leather was also an option, and I have seen them with full black leather with the wingback seats.
Being that its in such a bold colour, im sure easily reversable mods are something fine if you want to keep ahold of it alongside the mondeo, i think some morette headlights in matching colour (perhaps some of those skinned line graphic tail lights (like the early 2000s Mustang) and that rear bumper with some new wheels are a very tasteful upgrade, (i like the swirly alloy design for 90s cars like what was on the celicas) keep those original ones stored well, never know when you'll find another set if something happened to them, exhaust for a bit of show too, i think that would just add to the 90s scream this car gives as is. the early precursor to the crazy max power era where mods got mad! :P aside from that, the rest seems perfect!
Another great find, well done, in my humble opinion carry out your usual high standard of preparation, inside, outside, and underneath, we all know what a thorough job you do with your cars, BUT please keep it as original as you can (parts availability permitting). Obviously Blue tooth ice is compulsory (put the original stereo safely to one side). I'm sure purists would prefer it to look like the day it left the factory, than modified. I would be interested to read other subscribers comments on this subject. Either way it's your shout, so good luck.
Thanks. It’s a tough decision but certainly a sympathetic modernisation of the ICE and also making the ‘oily bits’ as nice as possible will no doubt help this car! It’s a fantastic thing to drive!
Lovely i love a slice of the 90s nicely put johnny mate a yellow escort covertable love it rare nowadays for sure good find mate keep up good work
Originality is key here I reckon. There must be more out there that can get the ‘Southend’ treatment!
When you mentioned the mods you were thinking of doing I thought yes good idea, but as you walked round it and we saw how original it was all I could think was no, no, no. So my advice as a huge 90's Ford fan is fix the little body issues and the cam belt, wash it, buff it and then sit back relax and enjoy.
I’d just repair the bumpers, do the cam belt, and put a small chrome exhaust tip on it. Use it for a bit, then sell it! I had a mk5a as one of my first cars. A rusty white 1.3 encore…. It was shit but I loved it!
Personally I would keep it totally standard cosmetically, but maybe up rate the suspension brakes just make it drive a bit tighter.
If you do a air brush smart repair on the bumpers. Please please do a detailed video on how to go it.
I would say absolutely only reversible mods on this one. Maybe do the wheels and a fatter exhaust, but not the suspension and bumpers ??
Keep it as is. Beautiful future classic
Keep it original. Fix the bumpers. Full service. Detail it. Enjoy it. Keep it for another 5-10 years & make a fortune! What’s the rush. This’ll be 20k + by then.
It’s crying out to be kept standard as it’s so original.. had it been already modded that’s a different story. Restore it, cherish it and enjoy it please don’t max power it😂
Great video, LOVE the car. Don't overthink it.Front and rear bumper - smart repair. Change exhaust and wheels. Drive the hell out of that little car, and than sell it. Make a trip video with the little lemon hahah :D
Keep it stock.
Wheels definitely a wheel change but choose wisely JGC 👍
I would definitely keep it original, in my experience it would be a waste of money to modify it and sell, modify it if you keep it but not to sell
Definitely keep it original, it's lasted too long as it is and I love the look of a car that looks like it ought to have been in the brochure, showing you what you could have bought before you inevitably decided that a 1.4 LX 5-door is the sensible choice.
I think you leave it as original as you can
If you were going to keep it then do the mods, otherwise keep it stock, will be an easier flip.
Stock original would be best imo 😎👍
Zeta engine is just a Zetec with a slightly different name. The name only changed as apparently Lancia owned the copyright on the Zetec name.
Nice find ,it's a mk5b not 5a though, they had the facel8ft the 5a a bit quick after it's poor launch lol
I'd keep it original and enjoy it for a while, as I think modifying it is going to narrow the market to sell it a little too much.
put 17 inch softlines on it and dry ice clean it
Much better kept stock in my opinion, I don't think it would be worth £2k more if you put the big wheels on etc.
if keeping it, then mod it. if selling, leave original
Don’t chav it, cherish it!
Personally, I wouldn't spec it up, just do the cosmetics, scuffs, exhaust etc.
Oh and of course, let me deliver her to her forever home, I think she wants to go to Scottish roads....❤
I have a mk4 cabriolet se500 all blue
I have NEVER been a ford fan (never had one never want to) but to modify it seems insane to me, just do the two repairs.
Such a cool car 😎
Not with the majority on this . . . I'd mod it in the way you outlined
Keep it original 🙏
keep it original johnny.
Is it me or does the the front bumper look a bit diff at 08:45 min. Other kind of yellow tone to it?..
In my view you should keep it original Johnny. It depends on how much you paid for it and what profit you believe can be achieved. For me, it would be disappointing to see such a great example of this car deteriorate. If you were to keep it for yourself then it would be worth the expense, but I can understand your predicament if you are looking to make a profit,
It would be sacrilege to modify such an original car in my humble opinion... You could devalue it more with the mods...
I’d smart repair the bumpers and change the wheels only.
If you want to sell it do the least mods possible, if it is for you do them..
fix bumpers, exhaust and leave as is
Should keep it as original as possible.
Do the small fixes and then sell it. Maybe buy a worse one to modify
I would say leave it standard.
now we are talking! i got a mk4 cab. best car ever!
What a beaut! 👍
I would fix bumpers, put new wheels and coilovers..
Very simple but would look very smart.
Keep it stock just changed the wheels
I would keep it as original as possible. Looks too clean of an example
If it ain’t broke.
Original
Definitely keep ot original, dont modify it, theres more than enough ruined that way.
leave it stock, fix it up and sell it :-)
Cosworth front wings Lowered wheels , mint , full respray so it's not yellow , 😂😂❤
Leave it Alone! You would ruin it .
Rare yes, desirable no. Mod it but keep all the original bits.
Mod it for sure
Modify it. 🙏🇹🇭
Keep it stock
