  • What's up guys, I'm starting the engine build series with the teardown process. I removed all the timing components in this video, and I'm getting it torn down to rebuild it. Let me know what you'd like to see in this build in the comment section down below. I'll see you guys in the next one :)

      Aww man! Sorry to hear about that. It sucks when the cars we love don't work out, don't give up on the platform tho, once you learn it well. It's actually a great engine, there's a reason why they still use the VQ35DE in the brand new Maxima's, it is a great engine

Awesome job I'm a broken down old dude who has been wrenching his whole life and I want to gurchase a high mile z350 and rebuild the motor myself I have the know how but I'm still partially paralyzed in my left arm and hand. I'm pretty confident that I can do it . Now just to find the car and make it happen

    My 240k 05 G35 6 MT is burning oil. 1 qt. Per 800 -1100 miles. Thought about a rebuild, but this seems like way more work than it is worth.

      I have the same problem but at 140k miles. As long as it's not burning more than that it's not worth rebuilding yet.

      . John all VQ burn alot of oil its what they do the more u drive the more they burn . jua add a 3 ports oil catch can from Add.w1.com ask for jack tell him FOREVER G35 youtuber send his way . the catch can has made a big difference better then waisting time on a rebuild for consumtion

    How different is the HR compared to this motor.I know they redesigned 80% of it compared to the DE?

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  4 года назад +2

      The HR just has a couple of things different(i.e. front timing cover/vtc sensors on the front), but it's still a VQ35 so, many of the internals follow the same design. I might build an HR in the future depending on how these videos do here on YT

    What if the cam sprockets dont line up to the top timing marks for top dead center ?

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  4 года назад +2

      You've got it on the wrong way, your not at TDC, or you've switch banks. Look in EM in the factory service manual.

    • @charger6773
      @charger6773 4 года назад +1

      @@fullthrottleperformance I rotated the engine a couple of times before sunset to see if I was able to line up the markings and continue on it the next day but it looked like the bank 2(drivers) cam phaser is more advanced when everything else is at the timing Mark's. Maybe I just need to rotate the engine a bit more when I have time.

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  4 года назад +1

      @@charger6773 Yeah, once you rotate, it takes quite a few revolutions before it will be back at every timing mark. As long as you installed everything with all the timing marks aligned correctly, you'll be fine

    • @fullthrottleperformance
      @fullthrottleperformance  3 года назад +1

      That engine had very little issues, just very high mileage(I'm rebuilding for my personal car, even though mine still runs fine at the moment). The continuation is a motor that a customer blew up(lost compression on the dyno during tuning.

    My 05 revup burns oil like an effing 2-stroke so i am definitely doing this ASAP. I have a question though. Can this be done still mounted in the car? I can remove rad support, no problem, and i have all of the tools you mentioned. I just dont have an engine crane.
