This game is amazing if you like creative puzzles and a great story. By the end, you get really attached to Niko. I'm impressed how well they managed to translate the 4th wall puzzles onto the Switch.
I love that this is an RPG Maker game. Love the idea that it can provide the tools to get you started and if you work hard enough through that medium you can get a game published.
I've never heard of this game before I'm surprised it's been around 6 years. For the price it's definitely going into my long list of games I buy and promise to play someday. 😅
RPG Maker games can be some of the most creative and imersive. It's a very limiting engine and toolkit, but that's exactly what early devs had to work with when some of gaming's greatest franchises were invented in the 8 and 16 bit eras.
If i had only seen the screenshot, i would never even consider buying this game. However your review made me really want to try it. And i think that's the awesome things about your reviews. Thanks! Added to the wishlist for sure (waiting for a bit more discount =p)
I am late but One Shot is a game that I absolutely adore. It is a game that made me love indie games so much more. I will absolutely buy the Nintendo switch release.
One-shot is a really good game, I highly recommend it, I have been with it since it came out as a free RPG maker game, as proof that I have played this game, Niko's favorite food is Pancakes
Awesome that you mentioned Fragile Dreams. That was one of my favorite Wii games and I would love if it got another chance to be played by people. It was quite an experience and the atmosphere was striking. I highly recommend that people check that game out.
Came here to essentially say the same thing. Any comparison to Fragile Dreams immediately gets my attention, in part because of how much I love the game, and in part because it suggests that the person making the comparison has similar tastes to me. Definitely sold on OneShot now.
Very interesting internal UI to the game with the use of the computer. It is also aesthetically pleasing at least for me. What a great review, the Legendary Azdin has done it again.
hey switchup, while i’m not terribly interested in this game (i did send it to a friend who is, though) i want to comment on your guys’ trustworthiness. i was looking up a bunch of reviews for games in my eshop backlog and most of the best ones were found on your channel, which is now my go-to for reviews. you’ve saved me quite a bit of money, especially since nintendo (unfortunately) has no return policy for any online purchases. i just want to say thank you for being consistent and putting out quality reviews on games!
Wow, never expected this to come on the switch, without even watching the review i know they have cutted or switched some of the content cause some of the puzzle making involved checking your PC file in the Desktop area. Regardless it's a gem and was such an emotional treat when i did play it on PC similar to undertale. Edit: after watching it , i am glad they made a pseudo like pc so you get the full experience of what you could if you did play it on Steam, if you liked undertale or other similar games like misao or IB you will love this one 100%
Bro, why make such a presumptuous comment before watching the dang video? So goofy lol there are other games that integrate in-game desktops when needed (Hypnospace Outlaw, DDLC Plus) so it’s not like there’s no precedence for it.
The unfortunate thing about reviews for this game is that it's the kind of game that is best played knowing as little as possible, but reviews inherently have to give information about the game away in order to even talk about it. If people happen to be reading this comment before watching the video, I'd recommend just playing the game before listening to the review. Of course, you may not know if this game is for you if you don't listen to the review, so there is a trade-off there. If the game is cheap, then it might not matter. Also, this game is a lot more immersive when playing it on an actual desktop PC rather than on console, so I think it's best played by getting it on Steam and playing it on your computer, if you can. It's obviously not a game that demands a super powerful computer.
Man that Contact (DS) reference! First comes nostalgia then the PTSD, that game was rough 😂 Watching the review also reminds me of Baten Kaitos a bit for the 4th wall breaking interaction with the character. Still need to finish that. Lol. But great review as always, I might pick this up.
I know this game is on consoles now but I definitely think you should play it on PC for your first playthrough. It just does a lot of things that the impact is lessened on if you play it on the console version like this. The game has very low requirements to run and will run on almost any PC, so you'd be doing yourself a disservice (I feel, at least) if you played it first anywhere else. That does not mean I dislike World Machine Edition. It's own extra goodies is nice. But for the first playthrough itself I think PC is the place to play it.
Around the time Undertale came out I've heard whispers of this game, but since didnt use a computer (besides my phone) that much I never got around to grab it... then got obsessed with DDLC and this gmae was on my field of view again but still nothing... however I did my best to know NOTHING beyond Niko's look (didnt even knew their name at the time) then early last year I finally got around to use my computer to play One Shot... the emotional journey this game sent me? Made me appreciate games that break the 4th for a reason that... is best you figure out by playing the game yourself Also the game is that good and memorable (and I'm curious) that I double down to buy this for the switch... havent played much yet but already love the implementation/replacement for the computer... and honestly the "controls" for it? top notch
Ok i love this, 2 minutes in and i was like OoooooooooOooooo! Three minutes in and i had to comment! Azdin thank you for this and switch up guys this looks so interesting! The gameplay and 4th wall stuff seems so refreshing!
Nice. A SwitchUp review. Guess i'll take a short break from playing Yakuza Like A Dragon. Huhm. I dont know what to think of this game. Looks interesting though. 🤔
I already own it on Steam, but gonna pre order a physical switch version from Limited Run Games because based on the reviews, it'll be a special game that I'll want to have on a cartridge ☺️
This really reminds me of Undertale as well, plus I love the Eternal Darkness reference. To this day one of my obscure favourites from the GameCube era!!
Love this game! Had the opportunity to review it for I Dream of Indie and as an enby it made me happy to consider Niko to be nonbinary since they are never given a gender
You guys have a busy week ahead. Diofield Chronicles, Prodeus, Shovel Knight Dig, Tunic and Moonscars.... You're probably going to need Grinning wolf games and SaveDex gaming for backup!! 😅👍
It takes the profile name of whichever account you open the game with, and like with the original you can change it when you first meet someone in the Barrens.

There's going to be a physical version released at limited run games I think it's going to be $34 for just the game in a case.

Glad to see the switch ver is showing people this wonderful game

The utter fact people are just NOW finding this game surprises me, its amazing
Just because you obsess over it doesn't mean it's popular
@@Xanthopathy I dont obsess over it, nor do I think its popular
I'm saying it should be more popular than it is
Yeah it's weird that it took so long for more people to learn about it
@@tristanmisja only reason I know about it is because it’s GD Colon’s favorite game
To quote game theory on an undertale video
YA JUST WRONG

Thanks for the review Glen. Haven’t heard of this one, pretty unique! Have a great day!
Yeah Azdin really did us proud with this one!

Great review Azdin. Game's on my radar for sure.
Thank you 🙏
Whoa I love the UI, super cool idea. Might pick this one up on a slight sale

I love Contact! It was so bizarre and unique.
Baten kaitos is amazing definitely play both if them!
@@GrinningWolfGames for sure. That ending definitely gave me feelings. Lol
@@nicholasbernard3488 yeah I got Baten Kaitos at a good price. I'm just struggling with the backlog 😅 that and X-Men legends 2 are my GameCube goals
Love it when i see a switch up video pop up, backlogs getting a bit silly though.
Yeah it really is like that - hopefully you still enjoy them - just don’t tell the backlog! Mark

I know you can't judge a book by its cover, but the promo art always draws me in.
Azdin working overtime lately! Thanks for all you do my dude.
Yeah he’s really helping out

Looks and sounds intriguing. Not getting this one at this time but maybe in the future. Picking up Diofield Chronicles tomorrow.
Oh boi I hope one shot gets some more love!!!
That's an amazing thumbnail holycrap. Good job
CHeers!
Not heard of this one. Let's find out...if its any good ;)
😉
It made me cry playing it on pc
Ok i love this, 2 minutes in and i was like OoooooooooOooooo! Three minutes in and i had to comment! Azdin thank you for this and switch up guys this looks so interesting! The gameplay and 4th wall stuff seems so refreshing!
Nice. A SwitchUp review. Guess i'll take a short break from playing Yakuza Like A Dragon.
Huhm. I dont know what to think of this game. Looks interesting though. 🤔
That's a high score wow
A really cool game this one!
I guess i can finally buy my friend a gift when it's his birthday, great
Some quite haunting background music on this video!
I already own it on Steam, but gonna pre order a physical switch version from Limited Run Games because based on the reviews, it'll be a special game that I'll want to have on a cartridge ☺️
Oh I have contact Ds And loving it. I got grab physical copy VGP sold out fast out of it will check local for physical:) great review
This really reminds me of Undertale as well, plus I love the Eternal Darkness reference. To this day one of my obscure favourites from the GameCube era!!
Definitely worth getting on Steam at some point!
What a lovely creepy game, the vibe the narrative, weird as hell
Contact on the ds was phenomenal, I loved that game and had no clue what was going on lmfao
Even though I already have this game on my laptop, I'm probably gonna buy it on my switch.
Really wanna pick this up now !
going to be watching out for this one on sale
but have you done the solstice route?
Looked forward to this one for a while
You’re probably having a BLAST playing Midnight Fight Express like I am but will you be doing a well deserved video on it soon?
I have it on PC, for some reason I could never get into it. Maybe playing under the bedsheets will help me this time!
Have you all checked out Fore tales?
This is definitely the week of point and click!
Great Stuff, as always!
i always wondered how this game would be handled on consoles. I would still say playing pc would be a better experience.
While I do think the PC version is a bit better, it's still nice to see such an obscure game get on one of the biggest consoles ever.
I am very intrigued with this game, just one issue I have is the price for such a short game. I do hope it gets a sale soon.
Oh nice!
Who made the art for the thumbnail?
Love this game! Had the opportunity to review it for I Dream of Indie and as an enby it made me happy to consider Niko to be nonbinary since they are never given a gender
Have heard good things about this one!
You guys have a busy week ahead. Diofield Chronicles, Prodeus, Shovel Knight Dig, Tunic and Moonscars....

My question is... how does it handle naming the Player?
It takes the profile name of whichever account you open the game with, and like with the original you can change it when you first meet someone in the Barrens.
Does anyone know if you are able to replay after you beat it
My favorite game
Woah you played Fragile Dreams? 👀
Doesn't sound likey cup of tea but I'll probably pick it up later on when there's a downtime on games.
Is this version on PC ?
$15 and this isn’t Silk Song.
LOL
Interesting game 👍
Anyone who has played this game, is this worth the price in your opinion?
It is cheap in pc for like 6 dollars i guess
😎🤙👍👍
it does look like a fun game, but i dont tink im picking it up, doesnt seem like my type of game. Plus not a puzlze fan
play it on PC
The game modifies itself to be unplayable after being beaten
HE
In my opinion 14,99€ is too much for this game, maybe 6,49€ it will be more properly.
As most ported switch game they start with the 1st ever released price, most likely it will be on a discount later on like it happened on steam.
And that’s fair! Valdrá la pena cuando esté más barato
Tbh i think it’s a great price because of all the new content.
i mean to be fair its an indie game
Not for me...
Looks like a lovely little Sunday afternoon type game in the beanbag sofa…🫶
