I bounce around between boats so that's why you're probably seeing different units. The more powerful one came off an east coast boat where they were reading bottom in 1000+, something not needed on the Gulf unless you're running way out. In the Gulf the best ability is being able to read bottom at speed to find new spots and most of the time the boat itself makes the difference. Step hulls send air underneath at speed which greatly reduces performance, regardless of transducer
Looks fun, I started getting into ARS this year, found them in 75 ft in the gulf but haven't been out to anything near 175. Do you fish near the middle grounds?
I typically run west of Anna Maria Island. The middlegrounds is about 100 miles and there's so much bottom and good fishing between my waters and there I never make it.

Do you not have to use circle hooks if it’s a baited jig?
I notice you're using a B175M now, how do you like it compared to the B260 or B265LH?

How do you find your spots? Just drive out there and randomly find it ?

B175m vs Tm265Lh which is better,
Lace a filet of 2 lb or so vermillion snapper with the skin on to a hook and up the line. Ultimate grouper bait.
