Luv to see a video about deceptive "sales" pricing by some of these companies. I've been seeing a shady trend with PSA for example. I just checked "Black Friday" sale prices for AAC ammo, and they are the same exact prices they were before the sale. For example: The "Black Friday" sale price for AAC 75gr Sabre Blade ammo is showing $12.99 per box. It's been $12.99 long before the sale. Numerous other listings on their site like this.
I was the same. I’d been considering their stuff for a bit and actually messaged them this week with my concerns, and they got back in a day or so on the phone and gave their side which was nice to see. According to the guy I spoke with the barrel was really filthy and full or carbon when they got it, but after some thorough cleaning and TLC they got it back to shooting sub MOA again and just sent it back for a follow up from the channel. Perhaps using the binary trigger to simulate full auto and only shooting with a suppressor built up the carbon so fast that without a decent cleaning it caused issues? I know they have watched this video.
@@rifleshooterchannel208 thanks for the info, I may try out that 13.7 for a build I have. I like the fact they say no break in period. Does the gas block come installed? I see that it’s proprietary
@ Yeah, to me, that’s the coolest part of it. The gas block is keyed to the barrel so it simply can not be misaligned. It also comes preset for a pin so you have the extra insurance against gas block movement. I’ll be honest, I really dislike nitride coating but feature and price wise that VKTR barrel seems like a great option. If they ever make a chrome lined version I’ll be a happy camper.
one of the most accurate barrels I own is a fluted 18" 300 HAMR from Wilson Combat (yes, very sus), made in 2020. Fluting doesn't have to be a detriment to accuracy, but it also doesn't guarantee anything aside from weight savings.
fluting is in fact always a detriment to accuracy because it causes different regions of the barrel to cool at different rates creating warping on a tiny scale, this is why most high end manufacturers don't offer it despite everyone acting like it has no downsides. It does. Tapered barrels are the most accurate
I watched a few other videos about their firearms. And I’m curious if you used their gas block that fixed but adjustable would have helped. Cause the gas block hole is larger possibly for ease of changing with that weird gas block from them
Awesome review. Too bad the barrel ended up being a $600 paperweight though. I'm sure someone out there is really glad you did a review on this barrel. Especially if they were on the fence on buying one. Like you said one could spend a couple of hundred less on a way better barrel. The rest of the test upper seems crisp.
Responded to another comment on here as well, but I’m on the fence for buying one. Messaged X2 about this very video and they called me back within a day or so. According to them the barrel was really dirty and full of carbon when they got it, probably from using the binary trigger to simulate full auto and shooting suppressed without regular cleaning. They said they just sent it back after some intense cleaning and multiple checks including having another shooter/company run tests, and they are claiming it’s shooting sub-moa again. Will be interesting to see the follow up video.
$600 for a stainless nitrided barrel is nuts. Even LMT barrels on sale for 500 is crazy, but you at least get a pinned and press fit gas block + gas tube already installed and it's (allegedly) already rest fired to be 1.25 MOA with black hills, and it's chromed. I was team nitride stainless justasgud til my 416R piston upper keyholed under 5k. Granted it was like 5 years old so i don't quite have an exact round count, and it was 100% suppressed. I am going to go bury it now
Aren’t these the barrels Vktr Industries is using for their piston uppers? Because that would in part explain why their uppers are so insanely expensive.
Would love to see you test out the Rainer Arms mountain series of barrels with their flutes. The flutes looked too aggressive on the trident and probably allowed it to heat up too fast.
I like those rtb pencil 16” barrels nitride very light and accurate. Like 80$ how can u go wrong buy many ! I’d rather have rifles stashed everywhere than a Gucci. 5 m4s is better than 1 Gucci any day for the rest of your life.
I have the WOA 16" SPR and Im used to level of accuracy, I was thinking about putting this in my next build but.....ugh....this certainly gave me pause.
Alrighty so he states that it is a stainless barrel not known for durability, also at its thinnest it's smaller than a pencil barrel. He uses it as a light machine gun for 30 minutes when a string of maybe 3 mags would be enough to show shot stringing from heat. After all that he test accuracy at a different time. This was a durability test on a stainless barrel and didn't even test his theory on shot stringing when the barrel heated up... didn't use match ammo either I might add
A 556 shouldn’t loose this accuracy at 2k rounds, no matter the material or profile. Only reason it would is if you were firing hundreds of rounds in 3 minutes, then doing it again and again
@@gundealsthere's a reason that chf chrome lined barrels are used for automatic fire. lol, go to your room and stand in the corner laughing that you destroyed a high price barrel through misuse. I bet you'd take a Ferrari 4 wheeling.
You need a 416RS or 410SS if your going to abuse stainless, or if anyone still makes a 17-4.. that one is a little expensive.. prob 700-1200 for a barrel.
You HAD me with that aggressive (!!) fluting for weight savings, but the price you specified is, simply, OUTRAGEOUS for what it is. Then the incredibly LOUSY lifespan and less than disappointing accuracy, and you have the perfect example of a "Nope!" barrel. And that's a shame since I imagined superior quality and performance out of an expensive (!) barrel. So, for me, anyway, I'll be sticking with my favorite Rosco brand of barrels, irrespective of the price (which are damned sure reasonable i might add. Now if only they'd toss a barrel or five to me for free for all the kind words i have for them. But since I'm not some well-known internet influencer, that ain'tgonna happen I'm sad to say) . Now I have to wonder if anyone has compiled a list of fluted barrels of comparative lengths to see IF the fluting actually does act as more than just additional cooling surfaces but also work towards providing actual rigidity since ONLY accurate rifles/carbines are worth the time, effort and expense to assemble them. I know that Aaron Cowan over at Sage Dynamics has tested and shown that QUALITY barrels of even shorter lengths CAN be impressively accurate and I've found that Rosco Barrels bear out my findings with those of Sage Dynamics. Hopefully, one day these guys will manage to figure it out but for now they will remain in my "Nope!" column, especially considering the exorbitant pricing. KOWABUNGA!!
GT... "I love how those deep flutes feel"
I really wanna see those flutes
I’ll never hear him say “…tip to butt.” the same way again.
I got suckered into one. Barrel gets super hot. Ran 2 mags suppressed and check barrel temp at 498 degrees. Apparently well above their tolerance
Bummer, these looked very impressive. I am greatly anticipating your follow up video.
It's on the way back to me now.
How would the barrel feel if it didn't eat breakfast this morning?
We don't NEED gear reviews!
It was funny, but I still don’t get the reference. Why did Hop ask Matt about Breakfast?
But... it did eat breakfast this morning.
@JEJAK5396 it is a test to see if a person can understand hypotheticals.

I blame the steel. Flutes are king 👑. I wanna see you review more fluted barrels. We know you secretly love them.
This John guy shoukd start his own channel where he reviews AR stuff

If you want this type of barrel, just buy the VKTR offering.

I’m wanting a 20+ inch fluted 5.56 barrel in 4150 atm but everyone us making them out of stainless 😂
