IT professional here. Thank you for the video. I appreciate people like you who take the time to make these. It's invaluable for deciding which laptop to purchase, as well as working on unfamiliar models.
Do not shy away from the 5570. I too am grateful to Yanko. Had it not been for his brave experimentation, I would still be floundering. I learned from his experience.
Using the two credit card technique shown at ruclips.net/video/GMLRGhNvgB4/видео.html I was able to open my 5570 laptop in about 5 minutes. It is always difficult until someone shows you the way. Then it can be a piece of cake.
Because of the secure way that the PC snaps into its housing, it does not even need the screws, although it is always a good idea to put them back and to snug them up gently. When replacing the screws. just remember that the three rear screws (along the hinge) are longer and half threaded. There is one smaller screw in the center, just below the "n" of the embossed Inspiron logo. The rest of the screws are all the same size.
The only tools needed are two old credit cards, and a Titan "Fits-All-Phillips" screwdriver. It seats well in all size phillips screws from small computer screws all the way up to household #3 phillips screws, with no slipping or stripping. I had my miniature screw driver set ready just in case, but the Titan gives me a stronger grip.
My problem here is, on one side that was the first time I open laptop like that. And second, the laptop was not even sold yet. I can't give the costumer brand new scratched laptop. So I take my time. After that I had a few more, which was opened faster... But did not make a ver. 2.0 of that video. Probably will make, but the laptop is not so new anymore.
@@LaptopDisassembly I am grateful that you did post Version 1 of this video. The way into a 5570 is not obvious. After watching your video, I was very cautious, and I then had an idea of where and how it comes apart. I would not have figured it out on my own. Thank you Yanko.
I now have a souped up 5570 i7. It came with a 1TB HDD buffered with 16MB of Optane memory. But it only had 4GB of DDR4. I just upgraded it to 32GB of DDR4. I am eager to do some timing tests. I am not a gamer, but I do tend to keep a couple hundred browser tabs open, and do some image, sound and video editing. I might start using a DAW more heavily.
I did the upgrade :-) Great performance now, but I also had to fix the SLOW INTERNET CONNECTION speeds.
My 5570 came with 4GB DDR4, and a 1TB HDD buffered with 16GB of Optane memory. I upgraded it to 32 GB DDR4 (2x16GB) for $170. It is now lightning fast, so I will not need an M.2.
FYI, One problem that I had with my new 5570 was SLOW INTERNET. I was only getting 20 Mbits *wireless* download speed. I uninstalled the SmartByte program that came on the computer, and my downloads jumped to 250 Mbits (which is the speed that I am paying my ISP for). Apparently, SmartByte helps on some computers, but seriously slows down other computers. (I had isolated the problem to my new laptop because my Android phone's connection was full speed).
I was also only getting about 40 to 80 Mbits *wired* download speed. I replaced the ethernet cable with a new one, and the speed jumped to 250 Mbits. I think that the old one must have been CAT5 and the new one was CAT6.
Thank you to Dell and Comcast for helping me figure out the internet speed issues. Both provided excellent customer service.
@@daviddiamond2415 what were the measurements of your RAM? I'm looking to upgrade mine, but I don't want to get the wrong size.
I could be wrong about there being different sizes, i'm new to all of this computer upgrading.
bro 5 years later, different type of dell laptop, but still built nearly the same way, thank you
Thanks for this! Glad I didn’t keep prying on the dvd drive side - didn’t know it had to come out and expose 2 more screws first.
No entendí nada de lo que dijiste pero me sirvió el vídeo, gracias
Its better to unplug the battery before installing the ssd and the ram
Crazy hard to get the cover off, I just did it myself! Good job!
Thank you so much for this! Worked like a charm
One technical hint from my side: when adding RAM, swap position of the pre-installed one. If you put the new one in the slot of the pre-installed one, you'll activate the systme to run the dual channel mode, otherwise the system will just run the single channel mode by default. Take a look to the pre-installed ram before purchasing the new one so you can try to match them. I added a similar model: I didn't not find the same memory but one with similar spec. iI works perfectly in dual channel mode!
No need to swap the memory. The only thing needed is to be the same size and speed. If the latency is same is better. The board check are the both slot taken and if so, it activates the dual channel. But thanks for the hint.
Yes, I added ram with same size and speed (and latency too) but bios was only running single channel mode. I then swapped the 2 memories and next boot finally activated the dual channel mode. I read the same experience from another user in a tech forum so maybe it's a sort of general problem with some pre-installed ram. My ram is Micron 8GB MTA8ATF1G64HZ-2G3E1. I ve purchased 8GB Crucial CT8G4SFS824A. Crucial is a Micron's brand so they're almost the same, probably. Matching perfectly!
well till now, every time i add ram it always start in dual channel. Probably it some sort of bios glitch, but is good to know. When you add the memory you disconnect the battery, right.?
Matteo Ingravalle Yeah, I tried that, but nothing loaded when I booted my PC. I switched them back, and then it works like normal. No idea why swapping ram positions did that.
Great video. I just bought mine yesterday. I now have to wait for a 8G memory module and 512G NVMe SSD to upgrade the machine.
My advice i to see is there a newer BIOS. If so first ugrade the bios before installing the ssd, just to be sure everything will be OK with the NVMe SSD
what is the model of your nvme? does it support higher 1k read write?
Maybe Dell should make safes.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome vid, thanks for doing the hard work for me so I didn't break anything! SSD upgrade complete in 10m.
Glad you like it.
Good Video. Thanks
Also, there is a trim option in youtube studio. You can cut 80% of this video and save more than 10 minutes of us
When stripping a notebook the primary objective is to disconnect the battery fro mt he system before continuing. Once that bottom cover was off you had to disconnect the battery cable.
I know i know, but in my case it was just a ram and SSD upgrade. I did not do anything else on the board. But you are 100% right. The customer was in a hurry so ... :)
@@LaptopDisassembly Cool Yanko, no probs 😉
What type of M.2 did you use, PCIe NVMe 3.0 x2, PCIE NVMe 3.0 x4, M.2 or other compatibility?
Uldis Prols
Here I use a regular m.2 2280 ssd, not nvme
Slept for 10 Hours during this video
Good for you, time fly when you are sleeping.
I have the Dell Inspiron 15 5570 2018 version with 42Wh Battery WDX0R I want to know if there are any batteries with bigger capacity like 52wH
or even 72wH that are compatible with my laptop as the one that came with the laptop barely lasted 2 to 3 hours when I bought the laptop. I am also considering buying a 4K monitor. Will it work with the USB Type C port? if yes at what refresh rates? and what 4K Monitors would you recommend?
Thank you.
Le puedo poner el samsung 960 es un m.2 pero es diferente el modelo solo tiene una curva y no dos se lo puedo poner?
I can't translate all correct but the model should be compatible with the laptop.
i can put a samsung m.2 960 to that laptop
If that is a question, yes. It is compatible with the laptop.
Great video, mate!! I was thinking of purchasing this, though the other option is Asus Vivobook S15. I want your opinions about the cooling, fan noise, battery life, screen flex and graphics of this laptop.
Well the laptop is a mid class. It is not made for heavy gaming. The cooling is with one pipe, which means that if you play heavy games, the temperatures will be high. The fan is not very big, on normal use the noise is very good. If you load it with something heavy, the rpm will go high and you can hear the noise. The battery life is good. The CPU is with U prefix, so it douse not use a lot of power. The graphic is mid 5 generation ATI, so it is not for heavy gaming. If you want to use it for gaming, it is not very good choice. If it is for regular use and small games is OK.
Yanko Goshev is the GPU good enough for software utilities? I won't be using for video rendering, but maybe age processing, simulation stuff. I not a heavy gamer, maybe some old nfs or GTA 5.
Yanko Goshev is Asus vivobook s15 a better option? It although has some minor keyboard flex.
For that purposes go for something with Nvidia GTX1050Ti, or better GTX1060. The video in this model will not do the job if you ask me, specially for video rendering.
Yanko Goshev thanks for response, Mate. Best wishes.
Thanks
Is this good for autocad software for beginner and professional and general purposes
Yes as long as you add ssd drive. Otherwise it will be a bit slow.
so many thanks for this video :D !
do you recommend this laptop ?
any issues like fan noise or heat have you faced with this laptop model ?
bashaar mohammad
Well it is not my laptop. I just sell it, upgrade it and install it. Its a budget laptop. I didn't like it much. Even one of the cables was not connected properly. There is no fan noise. With the ssd the laptop was OK, but if you use it with normal disk will be slow. The board and cooling is mid class. I'll give him 7/10 points. I expected more, but it is not high class model.
Why did you use the metal tools instead of plastic?
I always use a metal tool. I did try with a plastics one, but if both sides on the laptop are very tide it doesn't do the job. Also the plastic tool is not very suitable for opening monitors and tv.
Hi Yanko,
Thank you very much for your sharing,
How about thermal performance?
Can you watch 4k on youtube?
Is the Cpu can turn off power limit?
Thank you 🙏
1. The temperatures are normal, I use the laptop just for a few hours, but even under load did not go above 65-70.
2. You should not have problems with 4k in RUclips even with the internal vga.
3. What do you mean about turning off power limit.
Yanko Goshev Thank you very much your fast respon. Usually Core i7-8550u come with limit 15w tdp but without power limit you can change on the bios to max 25w tdp. Once again im not sure on the bios have that option or not
I watch TechTablet, on Appolo lake chip Cpu can change in the bios from 6w tdp to max 10w tdp by turn off power limit.
Anyways Thanks man for your feedback 🙏🙏
@@shinnoke8 You cannot change any option about cpu in bios. All the new laptop have less options in bios. And it is not a good idea to boost or clock the cpu of a laptop. It is not good idea in long term.

How did you take the DVD drive? I am also using Inspiron 5570 too, and I've taken all the bolts on the surface that you can see on the back. However, my DVD drive doesn't move. I cannot pull that out. Do you have any clue how to take that out?
When you remove the screw on the dvd, use the screwdriver to push the metal around the screw hole. You need to push about 1-2mm so the drive moves a little... After that you will be able to pull it with your hands
@@LaptopDisassembly Oh, thank you. I could do it. But underneath of the dvd drive, one of the bolts was stripped sadly, so I couldn't move from first.
hello, what model of SSD did you bought? and also the ram model?? thanks a lot!!!! good luck!
It was long ago and it was a costumer laptop. I install a regular M. 2 2280 Transcend 128gb, and I add Transcend 4GB DDR4 2400MHz memory.
@@LaptopDisassembly did the pc supported 250 or 500 gb m2 ssd?
Yes it supports
I'm trying to get the screws from the battery out, but they don't seem to move at all. I've tried all the screwdrivers I have, and none of them work. Is there anything I can do
They are regular screw, nothing special. Use a bit bigger screwdriver and use more pressure.
@@LaptopDisassembly the screw I have is stripped
@@bena7206 Well you can try and drill the head and after that remove the rest with pliers. Otherwise use a bigger normal screwdriver and try to untied it.
The screws holding down the hard drive is stripped in mine :/
Try to use smaller screwdriver or try to drill the screw heads... to remove them.
I hav Dell 5570 with 8GB RAM & i5 and its very slow-i use it for basic youtube, mailing etc. Mostly showing Memory at 90%. Should I go for RAM with additional 8gb to mak it 16 gb RAM? do you think will it help?
Well 8gb will help the system.. But are you with regular disk to or ssd. I would go for ssd instead of more ram...
Does the harddisk makes a click sound ?? Palmrest area Getting warm over normal use?
sagar s
The hard drive should not make clicking sound, it is probably a problem with the mechanic on the disk. It is not normal to be hot around the touchpad. Probably it is because of the battery or the hard drive, but it is not normal. Try to use warranty so they can check it.
does anyone else have any temperature problems with this laptop? Im sitting idle 50 to 65 and getting themal throttled instantly on any game launching
Aaron Dixon
What are the temperature in idle mods. Try testing just the CPU with prime95 and after that test the VGA with heaven benchmark. Set it to extreme tesselation. If the temperatures on the separate tests are OK, probably there is a problem with the cooler. It can't handle both on load.
Because its amd bruh
First install the latest gpu drivers. If no change you can try and change thermal paste
Well you can try. The newer driver can lower the temperature of the gpu. If not just change the thermal paste.
They are using the same heat pipe. If one of them gets hotter this increases the temperature of both. See is the grill clean and the ventilation is working. But change the thermal paste on both. Use good paste like mx-4 Arctic.
does it support addlink s70 256gb pcie ssd and wanna know the performance and durability of this ssd?
I have no idea about that ssd model, sorry.
10 minutes to get the cover off. Wow
Hi there just wanna ask i would like to upgrade my ssd from 120 to 250 should i need to make a recovery before upgrading it?
well, you can make a recovery image with Acronis True Image, and safe it on different drive. After putting the new disk, just restore the image. Or you can make a fresh install after installing the larger disk.
What's the brand name and some specs of the original RAM installed? Thank u!
The original was Hynix 4gb ddr4 2400mhz
@@LaptopDisassembly wow super fast reply! :) Thank you :) I have the same laptop as yours and it's really slow... I'm planning to buy a 16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM to ensure 100% compatibility with the original RAM installed, in which you said it's Hynix.
@@ejwithej the RAM will not make it faster. try adding M.2 SSD. It will make it faster,
Hi, about ssd on this notebook sata m.2 or nvme m.2? What m.2 form (key) i can paste in notebook?
It supports both regular and NVME ssd. On Dell site it say that it support NVME up to 512GB. The size of the ssd should be 2280. ( 22mm wide and 80mm long )
Can the optical drive be replaced with a 2.5 in. drive (HDD or SSD)? My plan is to upgrade to SSD and move the HDD to the optical slot.
The optical drive can be replaced with 9,7mm caddy. If you ask me, put M.2 SSD ( because the laptop have M.2 slot. ), and keep the normal disk where is original. This way you will get fast SSD system disk, keep the mechanical disk on its original place and still keep the optical drive.
oh, yes, i missed that.. thank you!
Can we get rid of the optical drive with an external HDD caddy and SSD ?
Joy Roychowdhury
Yes, it is 9,5" DVD, so you should find the proper caddy.
Can the Optical drive be upgraded? Can the Optical drive faceplate be changed? I've seen elsewhere that some don't have removable faceplates.
You can change the optical drive. The model is slim 9,5 mm, as much i remember. Probably on 99% of the optical drives you can change the face plate. The optical drive can be changed withe caddy, and the face plate can be transfer to the caddy.
Do you have any recoomendations for optical drive replacement caddy which can replace the optical drive with SSD ? Also is it SATA III or SATA II ??
i only did the ram upgrade for mine :/
If i had to choose, i would upgrade with ssd. The memory is enough for regular use, but the ssd gives extra speed.
i had a budget :P

Hi dudes! I`m gonna buy 5570 with 4415U processor onboard. Specification shows me that this notebook has 4 GB DDR4 ram. I was wondering if i can just to buy one additional memory stick with 4gb (kind of 4+4) or i have to buy 8 gb module in order to displace 4gb? I mean does it have only one slot for memory or two? What`s the memory voltage? Thanks a lot!

There should be one slot free, depend on the configuration. This is about three year old processor, so it support memory up to 2133MHz. The ddr4 have only one voltage it is not like ddr3. Best is to by the laptop and check with aida64 what memory you have installed and buy the same one.
Electronic Engineer here, just wondering what specs you just installed (from the RAM and SSD)?

It will work without any problems. But if you install sata ssd you will lose the storage drive. If you put M. 2 2280 drive you will have fast system disk and keep the regular disk as a storage
Thanks - good to know there are both options. Let me think it over.
I did upgrading same this model to the SSD and i did 32 gb ram , but its very slow when i press power on to reach the desktop more than 40 sec , its work as HDD , what is actually wrong with this

M.2 uses 3mm or M2.5 screws

It works with both
А почему вы не отключили батарею? Так разве не опасно?
Usually this is the first thing i do. The laptop is brand new and did not power on with the battery only. It was pretty much 0%. Adding RAM and SSD is not that dangerous, because they are not always under voltage. If you disconnect or connect LCD cable is different story. The connector is always under voltage. Your laptop is with 8gb ram now. If so you can add one more 8gb stack. You can upgrade it to 16gb. The SSD is for faster work. On regular configuration they install 5400rpm. hard drive, which slows the computer. If you install m.2 ssd the laptop will be probably 10x. Faster ( depending on the ssd you choose)
many thanks
can i add 16gb + the 8gb already exist?
and please tell me which kind of RAM & SSD supported to search about it and if u can share links.

As much I search the dell site, the laptop supports 8gb on each slot. You have only 2 slots, so 16gb is the maximum. After all 5570 is a mid class laptop. It is better to use software like AIDA64 or so to see what ram you have installed now. It is probably Samsung or hynix. If you can find the same will be better. They will work in dual Chanel and will increase the performances. About the ssd the laptop supports M.2 2280 standard ssd's. There is a lot of models and you can choose depends on the budget you have. WD, corsair, crucial all have good models. In the video I installed basic model on Transcend. But no matter the model, you won't recognized the laptop after that. The performance will be much higher.
do it support nvme?
According to Dell site it should support up to 512GB but it depends on the curren configuration and bios version.

same laptop here having a specs of i5 4gb ram, low performance, what can i add more to make this run fast? what specs of ssd and ram?
i5 is more than enough even for gaming. To increase preformance just add one more 4gb ddr4 2400Mhz ram ( it will work in dual channel ) and add m.2 ssd type 2280. The brand depends on the budget. You can get Samsung, Crucial, Transcend etc.
i bought the same and unfortunately it is slower than my older laptop toshiba i5-5200u 4GB. The same specs, despite dell has newer i5-8250u processor, older toshiba is faster than newer dell. i'm planning ssd and ram upgrade. Thanks for video.
Is it possible to change the processor in this model? I wanna upgrade from i3 to i5
On theory is possible, but actually very expensive. The CPU is BGA soldered, and to change is you need BGA rework station. The CPU by it self is not very cheap, so no point.
