I would have pronounced the final S (in caps) in the example you gave: "Nous avons plusieurs paires do chaussureS en vitrine. Lesquelles voulez-vouS essayer?" Is it a matter of preference or regional dialect? Or is it random? There seems to be no firmly set rule. Please advise! Merci cher Alexa!
Translating it as "which one" leads to confusion if you consider the example "Quel est ton jour prefere- Which one is your favorite day?". Isn't it? "Parmi tous les jours dans une semain, lequel preferes-tu? I guess the rule is when the sentence is in "Accusative" or "Dative" form, instead of "quel", "lequel" is used.
I never knew Porter means to wear. I only knew its definition of "to carry" like porters in front of a hotel. So I assume only the context will tell if it means to bring or to wear. Bien!
Similar goes for Italian and Spanish: "Lei porta un'abito che e' assai bello" ("She wears a dress that is so beautiful") and "Ella lleva una vesta que es tan bella" (Yet again, "She wears a dress that is so beautiful"). I know I'm responding to a three-year old comment, but I thought I'd point it out nevertheless. :/
