I just want to say that it is wonderful seeing someone help us though the game so much. I didn't know anything about the game until I started watching the survival guide.
4:10 I actually made a resource pack which adds a little red indicator under the display of the clock which turns on exactly at the time when the player can sleep.
When you moved to finding third stronghold, I was hoping for yet another method of locating it - maybe eye triangulation method (with nether blind travel possibly). For anyone interested: it's using math to find coordinates of a stronghold from two eye throws: throw an eye and record your coordinates and angle it went towards, move bunch of blocks (50 or more) perpendicular to that line, throw another eye and again record coords + angle. Now calculate coordinates at which those two lines created by eyes of ender cross and it should be quite accurate (down to measurement error) approximation of where to dig down. Speedrunners use something similar, and it's a nice way to not have to walk over 1000 block in overworld when you can instead take a Nether shortcut.
Agreed, it's also good to note that speedruners try to "blind" as they call it their way back from the nether close to the stronghold, they do this after collecting the blaze rods by going as close as possible to coords x 150 z 150 in the nether and making a portal there, once back throught hat portal they use the triangulation method with the 2 throws. I tried the 150 150 thing yesterday in my world by idle curiosity and it led me 3/4 of the way to the stronghold from spawn so that's something to keep in mind too.
Hey Pix, I'm a 29 year old American that got back into Minecraft about a year ago. I binged the original 1.13+ survival guide and wanted to say thanks for starting a new one with the new 1.18 updates. It's been fun being able to "play" with you, because at first I didn't know how deep the Minecraft rabbit hole goes, and now I'm into all the nuanced stuff that lets me play for hours on end. More veterans with PTSD should be playing Minecraft. It's some of the best therapy.
I also recommend Stardew Valley, its one of the cosiest games I ever played. Especially when life gets hard and you have an urge to move to a small town and become a farmer.
@@AhriOfAstora Very fitting because I just moved back to my small town after living in Colorado springs for the past 10 years. I've always had Stardew Valley in the back of my mind but now isnt the best time when I have Minecraft at one end of the spectrum and im also very excited for Elden Ring at the other end.
Knowing the location of all three nearest strongholds has helped me in several occasions. Namely it helped me fast travel back to my main base without having the need to go through the nether where it's a lot more dangerous. If I ever consider working on things beyond the first ring, I might consider finding the others as well.
Wow, can't believe it's been nearly 10 weeks already! I love that geode in the library, it could be as if something went wrong while someone was studying a crystal!
I had a similar situation to 8:24 in my first stronghold, but the hidden door actually led to the portal room. Needless to say i was stumped for a decent while before i noticed the inset button in the wall
I always learn something. This time (yesterday's actually) I learned to go into 3rd person view to avoid losing sight of the thrown Eyes. That has been a problem; especially when you think you know which way it is going to go, and it doesn't. Thanks once again.
Hey pix just here to clearly since speedrunning this game what I do the most. Do not dig down on 4 4 chunk when you reach at the right chunk border. Dig on 4 5 or 3 4 because 4 4 will lead in the middle of starter staircase of stronghold. Which myself and a lot of runner ended up dying because sometime there is big hole on 4 4 so when you 4 3 or 4 5 you will land on a safe slab block. I tested it and it’s 100% true. Also really nice tip to dig down between two blocks.
4:10 Just wanted to add, in addition to finding clocks in loot chests or crafting them, one of the four possible Expert level trades of an librarian is a clock for 5 emeralds.
Pix, you can use a sword or other tool (not a pickaxe) on the walls. Infested blocks will start to break much quicker than regular ones! That's a way you can tell them apart without the debug info.
We're getting closer, 48 episode so far wuuu, I have watched every episode so far, I love watching them while I eat my breakfast in the morning, keep the series this good ^^
I'm pretty sure that the corridors in strongholds end without a closed off end: i mean that they normally end in normal generated terrain, so if a corridor ends in stone bricks, there should be another room/corridor behind it.
Some interesting facts about silverfish blocks: You used to be able to silk touch them and get the actual spawner block. Early on they even had a different name - Monster Egg! They didn't have pickaxes set as their tools, so the increased time to break them (and the ease of breaking them with just a hand) gave them away.
I just learned about the coordinate 44 in the chunk where the stronghold is in.. that makes it so much easier , you videos are so well explained.. even if someone started playing minecraft for the first time, your videos would easily get them on track. Awesome video!
As a bedrock player, I was playing in a world where I lived in a village. After getting half a stack of eyes of ender, I traveled to locate a stronghold; although I couldn't make these predictions since I had no idea where 0,0 was (since I simply traveled for days and nights when I started the world). Not even 500 blocks later, I find another village, and I simply went past it. When I threw my eye of ender, it was directly back to that village xD I figured it was just a coincidence. However, my eye of ender proceeded to go below the well/town center area. I suppose it truly is a bedrock feature!
yay! I second Pix's recommendation of finding multiple strongholds, as you can use one as a silverfish farm, one you can decorate the portal room nicely (I liked the concept Pixlriffs used in season 1 of the survival guide so much that I did my own version on my friend's server) and one you can use to make a sand/gravel/concrete powder farm What do I mean by that last one? Well, the way the end portal interacts with gravity blocks can in the right conditions duplicate the gravity blocks, and you can use redstone mechanics to automate this duplication process (note, check with your server mates if this is allowed, and decide internally if you'll be happy in the long term with deciding to use glitches to duplicate things - for me, I only use this for sand & red sand, as they're non-renewable otherwise and I'd already ruined one desert with my sand needs when I decided to set up the sand farm)
@@MJDENTON or, to give you an actual response, if you go for a design like the one etho has in his long-term let's play series, then you can get XP very quickly, by storing silverfish in infested stone that's compacted into a cube, and then showing up & hitting the cube with a lingering poison potion so all the silverfish rush out to attack, and then (if you set it up right) are promptly killed by you, gathering XP galore! The reason I made one was because on my friend's server I created a dungeon-crawler/escape-room style version of "The Backrooms", and having easy & consistent access to silverfish was very useful, as I wanted to have silverfish scuttling around here & there, as they're hard to hit, make a lovely creepy chittering noise, and look quite unnerving so add to the creepy ambiance nicely :D So in general having easy access to silverfish can be useful for those creating adventure-style maps, pranking friends, creating a zoo/museum of all mobs & minecraft features, or they make for lovely ambient mobs, as Cubfan135 in Hermitcraft season 7, created a sanctuary for scarab beetles in his pyramid base, and he used endermites, but you could definitely get some creative joy doing a similar thing with silverfish, perhaps pretending it's a woodlouse/pillbug enclosure :D
@@MJDENTON technical completitionists are like that - must have a farm of everything farmable, whether it makes sense or not. Or to have people you play with on the server ask the same question.
Thanks for your amazing work! You should mention in a future video that you can't just fall through the portal to reach the End, because you keep momentum doing so. I've learned it the hard way when, after excavating the stronghold, i've dived in from the surface and died from the fall in the End (with all my inventory falling into the void).
I've had a thought for a while to try and find all the stronholds in my world, just because I'm curious. Thanks for this episode it gave me the motivation to go on with this vague plan I had in my head for months now.
My original stronghold is straight down south from spawn, I should probably look up the other two... most likely both are northeast and northwest then. Thanks for the video!
When you opened your ended chest at 8:42 I gasped because I thought you had found a notch apple in a different loot chest😂 my eye was drawn straight to it and then I realized…
There is a 10 percent chance of any slot of the end portal already being filled by an eye, this mean there is a 1/10^12 chance to get a full portal. Before 1.18 there was only one known seed that had a full portal and was used by scicrafters in their peaceful mode challenge in order to go to the end.
I always have a clock in the top right corner of my inventory for when I'm mining to see when it is a good time to come up. You can also see exactly when you can sleep in a bed when the night and day take up exactly half the display each.
In my current game I found the strong hold with in a short distance from my home base. It had maybe half of the eye’s of ended already in the portale (so lucky lol). I haven’t gone through it yet because I was only looking to raid the library of bookcases for a library build I made. But I look forward to the next two episodes! I need to gear up.
If you can guess approximately how far out the stronghold is, there is a very "eye-efficient" way to locating it. Throw one eye somewhat near the area where you think it might be, and note your location and direction, e.g. using a map and banners, block on the ground, or just any other convenient way. Now travel towards that direction, but deviate somewhat to the left or right. Once you are sufficiently far away, repeat the process of throwing an eye and noting your location and its direction. You now have the information about two lines. Find the area where they intersect and you should be really close to the stronghold entrance. If you didn't hit it right away, repeat the triangulation at a smaller scale.
Did a chopping Tuesday Livestream episode where I chopped a lot of the trees down around my base. Also did episode 13 today. Brewed a lot of fire resistance potions.
Hey Pix , turn on Dynamic lights to fancy in settings , so that u can lighten up a place just by holding torch in your other hand . No need to drop torch to light stuff up ... Great content , keep it up .
He doesn't have Optifine currently, and that's not a vanilla setting. Considering the vanilla tutorial nature of this series, I kinda doubt he'd use dynamic lighting even if he did have a mod for it. There's some other strategic downsides to dynamic lighting, but the fact that it's not a vanilla thing is the main reason it's not a thing in this series.
Waiting Impatiently for the video title 'How to defeat the Ender Dragon' I managed to kill the dragon but died a whole 5 times in the process😅😅 Now I am waiting for the video title 'How to beat the Ender Dragon WITHOUT DYING'
I've found the least stressful way for me to beat the Ender Dragon is to get outside of its vertical flight range, either by standing on top of one of the tall obsidian pillars (preferably one with iron bars just in case one of the wings make contact) or by digging down to Y 63 near the exit portal. I stood on a obsidian pillar in Java surrounded by iron bars, and just kept firing arrows at the dragon, even when it was perched in the center. If you are a good enough shot, the arrows will bounce on top of the dragon until it takes off, at which point the arrows hit it & the dragon takes damage. I was high enough that the dragon only clipped me with its wings a few times, and I was too high for the dragon's breath to be a concern. In Bedrock, I dug into one of the pillars close to the exit portal and put myself at Y level 63, since none of the obsidian pillars looked tall enough. I was too low to get hit by the dragon while it was flying around, and had two stacks of bottles to deal with any dragon's breath that came my way. Whenever it came in to perch on the exit portal, I shot arrows at it before it landed, ran out to whack it a few times, then ran back to my little hole in the ground and continued the long range attack. Neither tactic would be good for anyone in a rush to beat the Ender Dragon, or anyone who actually knows what they're doing in this game. Most of the time you're sitting there waiting for it to go where you need it to be, but it's a fairly safe method as I don't have to worry about being knocked into the void or getting swarmed by Endermen.
Is there a way to be sure, or make some sort of educated guess to prevent coming out into a pool of lava when you Nether Portal? That happened to me my very first time I built one and I, of course lost all of my equipment as I was under the lava and not too close to shore. I always put most of my things into a chest before I go through but it's kind of a pain and I wonder what the chances of that happening actually are. Thanks, anybody. Thank you, Pixlriffs for all the wonderful videos. They have helped so much and I Love being able to play with my niece and not needing her help constantly as I have yours. SO Appreciated! :)
Another way to identify infested stone is it takes a noticeably longer time to mine. If your pickaxe doesn’t insta-mine you can half mine a block to see if it’s infested.
Can you remove eyes of ender from the portal frame once they are placed ? I was.wondering, if you don't have them because you are playing in peaceful (although the chance of actually finding the stronghold is very small in that case) if you could remove them from one portal frame to fill another
It'd be awesome if this was possible, but unfortunately you cannot. I presume it's to stop players deactivating an end portal once it's been activated, although I can't imagine a reason that would be a problem.
You're going to hate me, but not half an hour of playing after watching this, I stumbled across my first dungeon on my new 1.18.1 world, about 700 blocks from spawn, on y55. And in the chest was the Otherside record! I'm still rocking the iron armour, and haven't even made it into the Nether yet as I've only found 2 diamonds🤣
What is the purpose of having so many strong holds? Do you fight the dragon in each one and get the loot etc or do they have other uses? I know shulkers and such come from them, but I always thought there was one End not multiple.
They all lead to the same End dimension, but it can be useful to have a stronghold portal nearby if you're building a base thousands of blocks from spawn.
They stopped doing that in Java 1.9. Now they only sell ender pearls, and in peaceful you can't get the blaze rods to make pearls. Don't know about Bedrock though. I think in peaceful mode you should be able to get blaze rods from wandering traders making an end run possible - without it you have to find a seed that has a fully populated portal, which are fantastically rare.
@@IanSlothieRolfe Bedrock is the same, you only get Ender Pearls from Clerics, and there is no way of getting blaze rods or powder in Peaceful. Kind of stinks, as a player shouldn't be unable to reach The End (or make potions) just because they don't want to deal with hostile mobs.
@@IanSlothieRolfe Conduits are a half decent alternative to beacons, although it takes some effort to make it work. I feel that the biggest hurdle in Peaceful is zero access to blaze powder, as without it, you can't get to The End (so no shulker boxes), make potions or have an Ender chest.
Just dig from 4 4 in the chunk and you will find the staircase. That staircase that leads to nothing is called the starter staircase. The portal room cannot spawn within 5 rooms from that staircase. The corridors which you will go is also counted as rooms. So you basically go more than 5 rooms from the staircase but dont go too far like 10 rooms in one direction you may not find in that direction. Head back and try different direction. Although sometimes the portal room can be like 10 rooms away from the staircase. I think you understood what I told I am really bad at explaining. I hope it helped mate.
"For now I'm happy to know where these 3 strongholds are" Don't lie Pix, you're sad you still haven't found Othercide lol (I sympathise... don"t worry, I'm sure you will find it eventually !)
The first portal I ever located had all but 1 eye pre-loaded. Didn't realize then how statistically unlikely it was or I would have left it and used another portal. Lol
I was starting a new world and decided to dig down under my self-builded house and found the stronghold, so I decided to transform the stronghold into a underground base😅
You can actually obtain infested stone bricks according to Skip The Toturial, if you break it with a tool with silk touch that isn't a pickaxe it will drop as infested
Technically the Geode replacing the Stronghold may be a generation bug. The Geode is probably forming before the Stronghold on the "hypothetical" minecraft "history". So the Stronghold should replace the Geode instead.
The more structures and features they add, the more of a problem this is. AFAIK geodes are decorators so they generate pretty late into the process and this is the result.
Throwing an Eye of Ender while looking at the players foot would be much better, as there almost no chance you miss the eye go up, down, forward, backwards, right or left. Also, we wont need to go in F5 mode (Third person view) to search where the Eye of Ender is going to go..
The dang update took away all my banked xp from my furnaces. There's no way I could've pulled all of it out. I put tens of thousands of blocks through 2 furnaces and now the xp is not banking or has reset. What's the deal yo?
about peaceful, even if its possible, adventure peaceful is imposibble. really. on adventure mode, you need creepers to dig a hole to the stronghold. when its peaceful, even if its full of eyes, the stronghold is unreached.

Waiting Impatiently for the video title 'How to defeat the Ender Dragon'
I managed to kill the dragon but died a whole 5 times in the process😅😅
Now I am waiting for the video title 'How to beat the Ender Dragon WITHOUT DYING'
You know it's gonna be a good video when you see Pixlriffs' avatar just punching the air in third person.
With only a 20% chance of breaking. Your RNG with eyes of endear hasn’t been in your favour 🥺
Dam i didnt expect you wpuld be at the stronghold so early
A Pink sheep, Dandy indeed !
once i found a stronghold portal with 6 eyes of ender in it
Sometimes a cleric can trade you eyes of ender for 7-11 emeralds so you could get lucky with that on peaceful mode too.
@@THE_bchat Would be nice if there was a way to get nether stars/beacons in peaceful too!
Is there a way to find the portal room easier than just walking around in the strong hold?
Just dig from 4 4 in the chunk and you will find the staircase. That staircase that leads to nothing is called the starter staircase. The portal room cannot spawn within 5 rooms from that staircase. The corridors which you will go is also counted as rooms. So you basically go more than 5 rooms from the staircase but dont go too far like 10 rooms in one direction you may not find in that direction. Head back and try different direction. Although sometimes the portal room can be like 10 rooms away from the staircase. I think you understood what I told I am really bad at explaining. I hope it helped mate.
Alt title: Pix tries to sneak an Otherside speedrun into a Survival Guide episode ;)
"For now I'm happy to know where these 3 strongholds are"
Don't lie Pix, you're sad you still haven't found Othercide lol (I sympathise... don"t worry, I'm sure you will find it eventually !)
uuh, that spelling error makes the meaning of the title a lot darker! it's otherside. ;)
@@Timelord79 Oh right, othercide is that game, bad mistake indeed xD
The first portal I ever located had all but 1 eye pre-loaded. Didn't realize then how statistically unlikely it was or I would have left it and used another portal. Lol
I was starting a new world and decided to dig down under my self-builded house and found the stronghold, so I decided to transform the stronghold into a underground base😅
So do the different end portals spawn in different locations in the end?

It seems like the village in that clip was an abandoned village...
If you are worried about where an Enderpearl will land, throw a Snowball instead.
How do you make these videos so fast? You must have a regular schedule...
You can actually obtain infested stone bricks according to Skip The Toturial, if you break it with a tool with silk touch that isn't a pickaxe it will drop as infested
didnt know that.. might actually try that next time i play minecraft..
No, you can’t
If you break infested bricks with a silk touch tool, it only drops the block itself without there being silverfish inside of ot
No it actually breaks the block only
14:15 "To the world."
20:46 looks like a cool RUclips play button
Hai pix!
What day do you usualy do livestream?
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
1:34 Illuminati confirmed!!!
Throwing an Eye of Ender while looking at the players foot would be much better, as there almost no chance you miss the eye go up, down, forward, backwards, right or left. Also, we wont need to go in F5 mode (Third person view) to search where the Eye of Ender is going to go..
Cool
The dang update took away all my banked xp from my furnaces. There's no way I could've pulled all of it out. I put tens of thousands of blocks through 2 furnaces and now the xp is not banking or has reset. What's the deal yo?
Bug fix which Im still pissed off about
There's also a website that can tell you by putting your seed in
Man like clockwork...you're so impressive😲
I had no idea there were so many strongholds in a single game.
17:36 *walls of 5 way crossings
Can Stronghold generate under a village?
In BedRock edition there are only wooden doors in Stronghold no iron doors
Wooden doors only! No, thats not the case
They sometimes generate under a village in bedrock.
They should put blaze rods in nether fortresses chests for peaceful players.. :)
It bothers me not knowing whether or not you picked up those diamonds from the first stronghold portal room 😅
In my survival world I found the stronghold while mining
cant you just use chunkbase?
Last episode before the dragon battle
1:52 he said the phrase before we say it
Some reason every time I’ve found a village its been at snow villages
Idk why though.
Good morning
Stronghold Week?
Will next week be like End week?
Why did you make your portal in the stronghold where you didn't already place the eye of ender in the portal
I made a portal in all 3, so I can return to them later.
Hi
We got deja vù
Pix has a stack of xp
about peaceful, even if its possible, adventure peaceful is imposibble. really. on adventure mode, you need creepers to dig a hole to the stronghold. when its peaceful, even if its full of eyes, the stronghold is unreached.
Does this mean tomorrow’s episode uses math and two eye of ender throws to find the stronghold?
Hello pix
