Great to see that you made it to Julie's place Dean.
New bike? What are you considering? That Trek 1120 looks like a very worthy steed for the GDMBR, so I'm intrigued at what you may be considering...
Thanks for teaming up with me on the HH...it was a lot of fun riding with you buddy!
Too bad we didn't have more time...we could have rented a canoe and paddled out for a couple of nights in Algonquin! ;-)
Hope the ride from Oshawa to Windsor was a good one!
    Cheers brother!

I will definitely be using the 1120 for the GDMBR! It has more than proven it's self worthy. I want to get a second bike that is less burly than the 1120. I am looking at the Surly Bridge Club as one option. I am also going to reach out to True North bikes to see if they might want to work with me. Fingers crossed! I will get a canoe trip in next year! Cheers

Another great series Dean! Really enjoy the videos. As a fellow Trek 1120 rider I was surprised to hear you say you are looking at a new bike!!! Can't wait to see what you choose. BTW.... I did the Banff, AB to Whitefish, MT section of the GDMBR last summer and it performed flawlessly!! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for watching! I'm hoping to get another bike but the 1120 will still be the bike I use on the GDMBR next year. I am looking at different options including the Surly Bridge Club and there is also a Canadian company called True North that makes Titanium bikes that I would love to team up with. They make custom bikes built to each persons specs. So we"ll see what happens!
      Cheers

Had a guy come into our shop looking for a trek to tour on. Trek stopped making all their touring bikes. Kind of sad.

@Adventures4vida yes I was disappointed to see the Trek 520 discontinued. But there are still Trek models that would make a great touring bike such as the Trek Checkpoint. I guess it depends on what your looking for in a setup. I rode my Trek 1120 across Canada so there's that. Thanks for watching. Cheers

@@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures the newer checkpoints are basically gravel race bikes, the 2023 one could be used for touring if you swapped the wheels, since it has full hook ups. They got ride of the 520, 920, and 1120. I have a 520 but its rim brakes and honestly as a full time mechanic I love my hyrdos too much to go back.

@@Adventures4vida I was actually out riding when I saw your comment and made a detour to stop by the Trek store I worked at as a mechanic. And it appears you are right that the complete build of the 1120 and the 920 will be discontinued. However the Trek rep said the frame sets will be available for the foreseeable future. Honestly I think a build from the frame up is the way to go but I also understand That's not for everyone and will be more expensive.
I was working at the Trek store and built mine from the frame set up.
I may however get myself another 1120 frame just to be safe. lol
      Thanks for the great comment!
      Cheers

Hi Dean. New bike day? When? Always exciting when you get a new rig. BT700 in 2025? I am in. Hasty Highlander? Yes sir! And more. I figure that I will be on the road for a good part of next summer, so why not? Wish we could team up with Bob and Julie also, and the rest of the crew. Take care my friend.
