Can we use multiple coordinating conjunction in a single sentence?
Example : When an individual drives a car, heats a house, or uses an aerosol hair spray, greenhouse gases are produced, and most of the costs are borne by individuals other than the one making the decision, so such behavior should be regulated using government regulation and taxation.

Are you definetely sure about we can omit the the comma if there are 5 or fewer words before the conjunction 'and' in the first sentence? Some other videos on youtube say that if there are two independent clauses, we must put a comma before the conjunction 'and' even though the first sentence contains 5 or fewer words. I'm confused.

Two clarifying questions: 1) You marked the FANBOY so differently on the board. Why? 2) I am unable to find in the ACT English grammar manuel the compound sentence exception where, if the first IC is five or fewer words, no comma is required. Any specific knowledge as to whether or not College Board and ACT follow the exception?

According to rules, a comma should be followed by FANBOYS. However, sometimes I notice that comma is not used before FANBOYS. Could you please help me to know why sometimes comma is not used?
Please look at the following sentence: www.thedailystar.net/politics/gazipur-city-corporation-polls-2018-voting-begin-bangladesh-bd-1595608
Also, general holiday has been announced for today in the city corporation area and all factories and industries, including garments, in the area will remain closed on the day.
    Here,
1st independent clause: Also, general holiday has been announced for today in the city corporation area.
2nd independent clause: all factories and industries, including garments, in the area will remain closed on the day.
These independents clauses are joined by AND, but there is no comma. Is this right?
    www.thedailystar.net/fifa-world-cup-2018/sampaoli-promises-argentinas-best-1595599
A win will keep their hopes alive but whether or not they will progress to the round of sixteen depends on the result of the night's other Group D encounter between Croatia and Iceland.
“There is no other alternative and I'm sure that it is going to happen tomorrow. I'm convinced that you will see the best version of Argentina tomorrow,” said the under-fire coach.
I don't feel or consume that virtual world news but some are effect by those comments.
There is no comma before appropriate FANBOYS.

What if a 'fanboys' word separates a clause and a phrase. For example, if it's "I will be buying apples and making juice". Do you use a comma or not? And why.

    • @lesliekawai5095
      @lesliekawai5095 6 лет назад

Do not use a comma. Only use a comma if the "fanboy" is connecting two clauses together: "I will be buying apples, and I will be making juice."

It was a great video to attend, especially for the 5 words or more in the first sentence which can make the the comma necessary and less than 5 words can make it optional. So when we have 1 subject we will not use comma , and when we we have 2 subjects it must use comma. What about fanboys ( so)? I heard when we the second sentence has result action we me used comma and if the second language has purpose we do not need a comma . Are you agreeing?
