Musk never said it was an interview but rather a discussion , they clearly disagree in many issues , for instance climate and renewable energy , but they managed to find points that they agreed and focus on, that is how you work to get things together

Rail can be very efficient, and with direct electric power through a third rail or overhead wires it's basically perfect.
It also means less vehicles with more attached carriages for passengers or freight
By contrast Elon wants you to buy individual cars and trucks to do the same thing.
If Musk is talking trains, it's only to piss on them covertly, there's no benefit in it for him in the long term.
