    I learn everyday
    Often say you can learn something from a two year old toddler if you are open & look hard enough. Giving the praise to your mentor and educators , is a testament to your good character and loving soul. If I was a betting man I would bet that. In thirty years folks will be saying. " They broke the mold after that man" onward and upward .

    I’ve have always been told horses are like kids. If they can mess something up.. they will. Good thing the eye wasn’t anything to serous. But I do believe there is a reason things like this happen.
    Be safe

    Loved the interview with the Sweats. Wishing you the best as you spread the good word about mustangs and hopefulness. I was wondering if you could speak sometime about how prayer and patience go together.
    May God guide your way today and through your tomorrows!

    Jake, thank you for this informative video! You are doing a great job sharing your knowledge with all of us.
    I am so glad Belle is doing better today. That you pause in a great way, for the greater good. Something I live by now to the best of my ability.
    I look forward to your next video as you are able to continue your 7000-mile journey. Safe travels as you move on, and I look forward to a good report on Belle on your next video.

    Loved this video, I grew up as a horse obsessed little girl in Connecticut and I learned about the blm and mustangs and always wanted to adopt one. And whenever I got to do a research report and choose the subject I always chose the blm and mustangs. So this whole journey really speaks to me and warms my heart.
    Also, as a mainly dressage rider I think it’s awful that people don’t understand ground manners and general horsemanship. It a disservice to the horses, but also the riders. It’s such an important part of being an equestrian. And I love to see those riding clips, really nice to see a western rider working horses that way (not the long and flat western pleasure style). Really nice balanced movement and impulsion from behind. Nice riding!

    My first horse was troubled with recurrent uveitis, aka moon blindness. In time I learned to spot a flare up very early. The eye lid will become a bit swollen a day or so before the eye swells shut. So, if I started treatment then, the flare up was really minor. Good luck with your journey.

    I couldn't agree more with the day we stop learning is the day we fail. When I was a kid in High School. Our Auto mechanics teacher had a sign above the classroom door. It read, It's what you learn after you know it all that counts. That always stuck with me, I think it helped keep my mind open to learn new things and always push to the next level.

    Hey Jake, let me ask you a question. I'm 85 years old and I've been around horses a long time. When I was younger we pretty much discarded mustangs. They were small, jug headed, little mean eyes and nasty. Is the quality of horses coming from the mustang herds getting better? I've watched some of these mustang challenges and I'm seeing much better horses. Comformation is better and they have better heads and kinder eyes. If that is indeed true, why? Is it because of the stallion release programs they had back in the 1980"s and 90"s? Maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see?

    How does the BLM know it is still the same horse after 1 year? Do they use a nose print like cattle or just go by color and markings or a brand?

    • @jakeharvath
      @jakeharvath  7 месяцев назад +4

      All the BLM mustangs are microchiiped when they are leased. They know which horse is which and where that horse is at any given time. The vet I referred to in this video who signed off on Denver couldn't read his freeze mark because of his long winter coat. So the vet just got out his wand and detected the microchip which gave all of the necessary information verifying it was the same horse leased from the BLM a year ago. Becuase of the microchip the vet was able to sign the papers which I then sent in to the BLM. Great question!

    • @jakeharvath

      @@francineherron1940 it's not a tattoo, it's actually a freeze brand.
