    We need a game that uses cards in multiple ways but at the same time artistically coherent! I imagine it will turn out to be something that looks like spiral drawing or one of those steam punk solar compass which is also a piece of Art itself!

    I by happenstance last year came across adventure of d 2nd edition and while I’m not too fond of the art, the games card play is real clever and surprisingly challenging.
    This is not far off. I think I know what game is now adding to my wish list.

    Game looks very interesting. The multi-use cards remind me of a more thematic One Deck Dungeon or a more elaborate version of Mini-Rogue. (I did not like One Deck Dungeon. After digging into the game, it turned out being very math-y and not thematic. It felt like I was just counting dice pips and not exploring a dungeon.)
    I wonder how the creator of this game sourced their art. The Amulet of D'Eugor is actually a somewhat famous piece of art. It's from the original Alpha/Beta/Unlimited set of Magic: The Gathering. The illustrator Amy Weber is properly credited at the bottom of the card, but I hope they had permission to use it. It's not a particularly expensive card, but it's from the original set released in 1993.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  3 года назад

      It’s a free game. So some of the art is borrowed, all credited. I did not like one deck dungeon at all.

    Hello. Hopefully you see this comment. I printed one out and noticed that there might be some missing pages in the file in their website. Either that, or there are some cards that just don't have a back side?
    For example, i have 9 back images that has the "power" on it but we have 18 power cards? Am i missing something?

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  6 месяцев назад +1

      Not sure. I'm not the creator, and I don't know where you got the files from, or the integrity of your document. Probably best to ask over at Board Game Geek on the games page.

      @@TheDungeonDive ,
      There are kinds of investment other than money. I'm not going to just print out a whole deck of cards and rules, learn, and playtest a game I already strongly suspect I won't end up enjoying. But I'd like to think that somewhere out there is a person who already has, enjoys, and is playing the game, and already makes a point of making content to educate people about such games, that might fill in the gaps for me. If such content did happen to already exist, it might change my mind.
      But sure, "Get it yourself and figure it out" works as well, I guess.

    Are the card files in this link uploaded to printer studio by JackDGames? And are all the card info correct for each card? I see there are “edit” options for each card.
    I assume it is to personalize the deck, but makes me nervous that it gives me the option.
    The cards look great in your video. The game instruction was nicely done. Thanks

      I don’t know who made the PS file. I just ordered as is.

  • @jameswoodard4304
    @jameswoodard4304 2 года назад

    The small number of room possibilites and the randomness of the skill cards seem like negatives. Yes, I get that the card numbers being drawn stands in for the equally-random dice roll, but the fact that the skill "suite" of the cards going into your hand is also random seems off to me.
    I didn't really catch how the innate skill levels on the character card which can be upgraded affect skill checks, as opposed to the hand-management mechanism, so maybe that is part of my problem. Do you add your base stat to the cards you play? Or does the base stat decide if certain actions are possible, then the power cards are how you actually go about it? This whole aspect wasn't clear to me. It seems like you have two sets of values for the same stats which are then used differently.
    As I said, my other hang-up is the lack of variety in rooms. A big part of the basic emersive fun of dungeon games for me lies in the exploration aspect, and I just forsee walking into the same familiar rooms over and over in this game.
    Besides these issues, this is clearly an impressive feat of game design and the mileage he gets out of those multi-use cards is a big part of that which a really appreciate.

    • @jameswoodard4304
      @jameswoodard4304 2 года назад

      After digging through the rules (the pinned links no longer work, btw), I realized you do add the Power Card value on top of your base stat. I clearly just missed that in the video. The rules call these cards when used in this way "Effort Cards," which helped me realize how the mechanism was meant to work.
      I think I'm fine with that aspect now, but the lack of variety in rooms is still an issue. There are 94 cards total and only 18 very specific and unique rooms are available to make up a dungeon. I won't be able to help getting bored pretty quickly, I'm afraid. This is already far from a pocket 18-card micro-game. A content expansion focused on rooms couldn't hurt. Just making it an even 100 cards instead of 94 would increase the number of rooms by 33%!
