I am dying. Melon being deep about Goku's struggles with fighting and being number 1 and he was talking about doing the deed with Chi-Chi. I just can't
The moment she started to say his struggles before Goku correction, I was like "Haha that's not what he means."
It was almost too perfect.
Lol her point was still valid though. What she’s saying is how Goku feels at that point in DBZ.

Dende saying "that hurt me more than it hurt you" is a reference to the fact that namekians are sensitive to whistling as established in Lord slug and that's why piccolo went "ow!" when Dende wolf-whistled.

Like how Mr. Satan is such a great character and practically a joke that TFS didn't even need to abridge him. His lines aren't far off of what he would have said in the actual show
Except the Point where he anounced ne beat Cell. it felt much more like he did it for the People not himselfe, setting him up to be mucn more honorable.

In the original, Vegeta, Trunks and Piccolo went separately into the Time Chamber during the 10 days before the Cell Games and somehow didn't get stronger, or at least not significantly, one would think at least Trunks and Vegeta would get mastered super saiyan just like Goku and Gohan, but they didn't, so going in alone, becoming crazy and leaving early after a couple of days is TFS explanation on why none of them got stronger.
As Vegeta would say: POWER LEVELS ARE BULLSH*T!

19:20 one detail I love is that Bulma is the first person Goku tells about Ch-Chi's pregnancy. It's especially sweet when you remember that Bulma was Goku's first friend.

This was honestly my favorite of your reactions to this show. Just the fact that you actually understood the "go for ten" joke and the android 16 is gero's son bit, something I have seen others somehow miss, just made my day. Can't wait for the next one!
This video of 16..was dark and intense, it was a good way to gave all this some relatable background.
I loved that scene at the beginning in actual DBZ because I remember Goku just resting peacefully while Krillin thinks that Goku is actually on high alert and chucks a rock, which nails Goku in the forehead and causes him to scream in pain and yell at Krillin ‘Why did you do that?!’
Also, I’ll forever be sad we didn’t get to see Dende’s interactions with Videl in Abridged since they had to stop at the end of the Android Saga.

It's been like 10+ years. I wish they'd do the last arc. I mean if I remember correctly a big reason they stopped was because they burned themselves out doing all the scene stitching and stuff.

It took me just now realizing that when Dende whistles. Piccolo says ow because of how it’s Been established that whistling is painful for them. And therefore since Dende was the one creating the sound. It did in fact hurt him more than it hurt piccolo 😅😂😂😂
Not sure if it's been recommended to you, but there's actually a series of DBZA original shorts before the Cell Games, and they were all hilarious AF.

Something that flies over our heads a lot. The date on 16's video journal, May 12th? That's the same date Trunks warned Goku about Androids coming to attack.
I love them taking a moment to have Goku tell Bulma about Chi-chi's pregnancy; Bulma's reaction is so wholesome.
Do love how team four star animated that heard that rumor back in the day and to see them be one of the first to officially put that in any dragonball content

That 16 video hit different. I love that you heard the Kid Goku going ham outside that tipped you off. It added weight to it all.

Just to clarify, Piccolo Daimao was also a member of the Dragon Clan, due to him and Kami being the same person originally, but he deliberately birthed Piccolo Jr as a member of the Warrior Clan. Despite him not knowing what a namekian actually is, he knew that he was the physically weaker version of his species, and made Piccolo Jr the stronger version. Dragon Clan can lay eggs, use healing magic, and make dragon balls, while the Warrior Clan can absorb other members of the same clan, and they mature faster (Piccolo is fully matured at only 3 years old when he fights Gokū in the last arc of Dragon Ball, whereas Dende still looks like a child even 5+ years after the end of the Namek Saga, and still only looks like a teenager during the Buu Saga)

The part about 16 being based off Geros son wasn't just a creative decision by DBZA, but rather Toriyama mentions this in an old interview. He never states this in either the anime or manga, so this and the Super movie (I've not seen the movie yet) is a lot of peoples first time learning this. Toriyama always had a freeform style of writing without any hard plans, a noticible difference being the Android/Cell (where his producer directed Toriyamas efforts) and Buu (where Toriyama was kinda left unchecked) arks, so him forgetting to mention this (along with a large part of the original Dragonball roster) sounds pretty valid to me. I'm not sure if it's his canon name or not or even if I'm spelling it correctly, but MasakoX (voice of Goku in DBZA) calls him "Gearbol" on his channel that deals in a lot of "What If" Dragonball stories. I don't remember him mentioning the name was something he made up, so I'll assume it's canon. Seems fitting anyway. Gero "Gyro" and Gearbol "Gear".
Something else mentioned in that old interview was that Gero actually wanted to help humanity. He was using the Red Ribbon Army to fund his cybernetic research before Goku ends up killing his son. Gero was never a "nice" person, but neither was he "evil". It was the years of grief that lead him to become who we see in the anime and manga. With how Toriyama got a lot of his ideas from other media I suspect Gero is a "Lex Luthor" kind of situation. While his vengeance against Goku was an initial driving force learning that Goku was an alien and that there are stronger of his kind out there, information from his bots that were destroyed only after Vegita and Nappa landed, he probably became more aggressive with his experiments to counter this likely danger.
Only just realized why that date sounded familiar to Bulma. I thought she just remembered when Goku fought the red ribbon army but May twelfth is also the date the androids attacked.
The "If you had a Wig" part killed me... That and "GO for TEN!"... GOTEN... I fell out of my chair on that one.
the best part is goku thinks Krillin is gonna tag in for chi-chi, not for goku, that's what he means, a wig to look like chi chi LOL

The Pulitzer joke is underrated as hell. Notoriously the pulitzer award is rarely awarded to women to the point where it's mocked as a men's category award. Wild that one joke is a set up for such a niche followup.

Chi-Chi likely was on top for the most part.
Also, Goten could tap into Super Saiyan easily, so it might just be part of his DNA as a result of Goku being Super Saiyan during all this.
@@michaelcarlton1484 ehh trunks could too, and he was conceived prior to vegeta going super saiyan at all so not likely. It was mostly just a consequence of vegeta beating up trunks and him teaching goten.

I have a bit of fondness for this episode cause it won me a prize in a bonus question of a DBZ quiz! They asked us it recount what happens in the (at the time) latest episode of DBZA and I was able to remember the most!
The "hot Asian wife" gag is a reference to a white pro wrestler who, when working as a heel in Japan, bragged about his hot Asian wife to draw ire. Lanipator and Takahata are both big wrestling fans (which tracks because it's just theatrical Shonen).
There's a few serious scenes in DBZA, honestly some of their best moments are played straight.

You should definitely watch the TFS Cell Games series of all the competitors from other animes that come to challenge Cell at the arena before Goku and the gang get there.
"He did more work than Kami ever did". Kami, who created dragon balls on Earth, trained kid Goku with Mr. Popo, kicked the crap out of Yamcha and recreated Moon at least two times: "Am i a joke to You?!" :P
Melon, watching your brain get fried as DBZ Abridged suddenly turned into a sex comedy made my day. I hope that in addition to the Broly movie, you'll also check out the Cell Games series, which is a group of short videos where, during the week leading up to the tournament, groups of different heroes from various anime and video games come to challenge Cell, and there's one other last movie, called "Plan to Eradicate Christmas", which only loosely ties into the timeline.
I hope you'll watch and react to them all, as always it's a pleasure reliving the series with you and seeing your reaction to it.
Piccolo went in alone and he started hallucinating. Vegeta also went in alone and he was hallucinating Nappa. 😂 The hallucinations also manifested in 3 days. I love TFS' attention to detail.

I wouldn't say I'd rob a bank to secure the funds to pay for a full audiobook retelling of all the events so far from Perfect Cell, but I'm not NOT saying it wouldn't happen
As soon as you started going in about "Goku's struggles" in my head I was screamin "oh this poor girl got played" 😂. Never thought about it before but I love how this episode tied up so much stuff thats just left in the open, like when did Chichi get pregnant, How Vegeta goes into the time chamber twice and STILL isn't stronger than Goku, and a backstory for 16. On the note of 16 though I want to say it is mentioned that he was "modeled" after Gero's son and nothing more (which is the assumed reason he is fully an android vs the cyborgs like 17 and 18).
10:34 I think the reason Piccolo can't do it is simple. Personality dominance. Kami wasn't much of a fighter and when he split with his angry side from the exposure to the angry, evil sides of humans, King Piccolo became obsessed with fighting while Kami retained his peaceful Namekian nature. Piccolo didn't fuse back into Kami, Kami fused with Piccolo, so the dominant personality took over. Hence why Piccolo is a fighter and not a Namekian magic man.

The humor is fantastic as always. But I loved how TFS put that recording of Gero's son in there. Like it peels back so many story layers, like how Goku did kill innocent people, why Gero hates him so much, and why 16 is programmed to be obsessed with killing him.
That was Goku talking in the intro. You can tell by how tired he is 😂
This series really is tainting your mind lol. Not to mention peanut butter would make _terrible_ lube. It'd be used for... other things...
Also, while you were pausing and having a real talk about Goku's struggles I was dying of laughter waiting for you to unpause and hear what he was REALLY talking about lol. Same with the crazy amount of sex jokes this episode. Dunno why they're so funny, but they are. Maybe it's the reaction to them that's making them seem funnier to me.
I really love that original animation addition of Gero's son in that video. The detail talking about cyborgs, the bird in it. Adds a lot of depth, and adding the plotline of Goku killing him. It hits almost as hard a Goku himself does.
Super Kami Guru would be the most based guardian of Earth.
I looked it up. Turns out Gero's son was killed in an unrelated fight, and Gero didn't want to risk losing him in battle again, so he programed 16 to be the complete opposite of his son.
Dende insulting Trunks as "bowl cut"...while his idol Gohan literally had that on Namek. Dodoria used the insult on him!

Apparently they discussed some of geros family in the dB manga. His name was gevo, and apparently he died in combat before goku ran into the red ribbon army.
Yeah, surprisingly Goku wasn't actually to blame for it. But TFS made it hit closer to home.
@@BJGvideos The original Canon have Gevo (Gero's son and guy who 16's modeled on) to be an elite member of the Red Ribbon Army, code Named "Gold". He was also quite the cruel assassin who died from a bullet in his head on a battlefield.
Also, it was said that Gero built 16 to be a "pacifist" because he didn't want to "see his son die twice" in some fight or warzone.
While i'd like to keep the second part as canon, TFS really magnified the origin of Gero's visceral hatred for Goku with that one.

the information that you said about 16, i forget where it was mentioned, could of bean an interview, data book, etc., but it was confirmed there that 16 was gero son who goku killed during his raid on red ribbon, which if i recall correctly that information was around a long time before DBS even started, i think it was released during the majin buu arc
Dende's family isn't dead, his father and brother were brought back with the Dragon Balls at the end of season 2 along with the rest of the Namekians. In fact his father, Moori, was the one who became the new Grand Elder after devouring Guru.
Wait a minute! Am i the only one that just realized " Go For Ten" in DBZA lore would be why they named his son " Go Ten"
Fun fact: Clark Kent has a Pulitzer too! So he gets to be smart AND look kinda like that Superman fellow maybe.

I find more references every single time I watch this series. When the reporter asks Cell if the fat green guy would come back, because in episode 60 he BECOMES the fat green one
I'm amazed that whether toyriama used these references or of it was always planned about 17 being a ranger and 16 confirmed in super it's just awesome glad you enjoying the series can't wait till you get to the cell fight
17 already stated in manga he might have wanted to be a ranger, and Toriyama confirmed in an interview that 16 was Gero's son (however, the reason of his death seem to be totally unrelated to Goku)
The whole Android 16 being based on Gero’s son fact was revealed by Toriyama in a interview a while ago. Honestly does add a much deeper layer for Gero’s hatred for Goku. I wish he had included this when he was actually making the manga but hey better late than never I guess. Anyways after you do finish reacting to TFS’s broly movie but before getting to the Cell games episodes, I would recommend reacting to TFS’s series of short videos called ‘Cell Vs’. Each episode basically has characters from different franchises challenging Cell to a fight before the Cell Games begins, taking place between Episode 56 and 57. So if you’re into crossovers then I’d suggest checking these videos out. It was pretty cool thing they did while we waited for them to abridge the cell games. Good times lol.

Dende's family isn't dead anymore. They were revived with the rest of the namekians. The only ones who weren't in this timeline are the ones Vegeta killed, which was a different village.

Me: Uh, remember when they wished back everyone killed by Frieza and his men? And that Dende's family was included among them? Including Moori, the _current Grand Elder?_
The most recent DBZ movie seems to have taken some inspiration from DBZ abridged. I think that Dr. Gero backstory change/update was taken directly from Abridged. It is a motivation for Gero that convincingly explains his blind rage at Goku.
It makes sense with the shared fans/conventions and the fact there has been some communication at least behind the scenes between the people who work on Super and DBZ abridged.
They didn't make up that 16 was based on Gero's son. It comes from an interview with Toriyama that also revealed the real names of the twins.

I about lost my mind while trying to look normal when that video of gero’s son appeared cuz it was one hell of an interpretation.
I like the idea of Goku thinking someone being constantly angry at him means they want a swing at him, probably thanks to Chichi being Chichi. In Vegeta's case though, and given what's about to happen with Cell, as well as what happens in the "fight counseling" clip, i wouldn't say he's wrong about this one.
You'd be interested in how TFS made a bunch of Cell VS videos. They originated it, and DevilArtemis Popularized it.

On a sidenote. The whole android 16 video was made by TFS and has been officially recognized as canon now.
