"Ballad of Dwight Fry" is a masterpiece in music and stage shows. I'm going to see Alice in PDX on the 19th. It will be my 17th time attending his shows. Also I want to remind you to avoid any of the songs on his "From the inside" album. You really need to do the whole album as each song tells a chapter about when Alice actually spent time in a mental institution! He had a long time to conceive write and plan the album and it shows. I promise you you will feel like laughing and/or crying many times listening to it. Some of his best rockers and ballads are on this album.

I saw Alice at the Fillmore East in 1971.. they were the 2nd act and they blew the headliner off the stage.. It was the Love It To Death tour.. I ended up seeing them a lot over the next years.. until he went solo.I loved the original band. Dennis bass lines and Prairie’s drumming … great. This was from the very next album, Killer.. that was a great tour too.

Also from Alice after the band broke up is Gimme. It's a total hard rock/metal tune! From Alice (the man and the band) you may get everything from Big Band, to Hard Rock, Metal, Classic, Garage, Punk - the list goes on and on.

His best album is From The Inside, a concept album with not one bad song on it. I came out of my freezer one day singing "How you gonna see me now?" and because of me singing it, my boss went out and bought the album that day and said it was the best thing he'd ever heard and he had no clue Alice Cooper sang ballads.

Alice Cooper embodies the capitalistic ideal, and demonstrates what one can achieve applying the principles of hard work and tenacity. You don't have to be naturally good at something. You can work hard and get good at it. Find your niche in the market, service your customer, and they'll still be talking about you fifty years later. That's brand loyalty and its well deserved. He was a great showman.

Alice Cooper is so endearing, even to this day. My favorite album of his was called, love it to death. Any song from that album is amazing. Some of them rock hard and others are more abstract and borderline psychedelic. Long way to go is my favorite rocker by him. It was featured in the movie The World According to GARP when the father kept turning it over to jazz andthe babysitter kept turning it back to Alice Cooper, laugh.
There is his earlier song, school's out for summer, which is so iconic. We used to sing that at the top of our lungs on the playground.

Oh hell yeah!!!! Alice Cooper especially early Cooper is my shit!!!!! the man was......I don't even know how to describe him. Him and Zappa are two of my most favorite performers. Alice's stage show is incredibly amazing. Not alot of performers will hang themselves and have themselves beheaded all in one show LOL. The guillotine he uses is real!!!! It stops about an inch from his neck and the platform he's laying on drops and a mannequin head drops into the basket. The noose is also real!!! behind the rope is a strand of piano wire that's about a 1/2 inch shorter than the rope that just allows the rope to tighten to make it look real. The piano wire snapped on him once in rehearsal!!!!!! He says he felt the snap and instinctively looked up so the rope would slip over his chin. Burned the shit out of his chin tho. Can you imagine that happening to you???? F that!!!!! LOL
This might sound different because in the late 80's-early nineties he got a little heavier and metalish. This was 71 on his 4th album.
Alices catalogue is so far and wide a suggestion is hard so I'll do one from different periods

@@bobschenkel7921 same here. In St Louis. A guy came out with a huge plug and then turned a huge TV on. Then he changed some channels. It went through several commercials, one being for ear odor deodorant. Then a small dot in the center that grew into someone running towards the front. When he got full size Coop busted out the center of the screen. I believe it was The Best of the Show Tour.

One of my favorite Alice Cooper songs. The first time I heard it was a recording of it that Alice did with Axl Rose & Slash for the soundtrack of the documentary Decline of Western Civilization Part 2: The Metal Years. It's a great movie & a great soundtrack.

You should go see Alice Cooper live. He chops his own head off. That's just a bit of his live show. It's a great live experience. He's one of the true showman of rock & metal. Also check out some King Diamond & Mercyful Fate. King Diamond is also a great live experience.

There was an Alice Cooper in Mayberry RFD, and in Riverdale. Both are chicks. I remember an episode of Mayberry RFD that had the rocker Alice Cooper on it, just so they could ponder him having the same name as that chick on the show. If there was any bigger connection than that, I was like 5, so I either didn't get it, or I've forgotten it.

I'm hearing The Beatles influence in this, a bit of Twist and Shout?
It sounds like a Hard Rock version of a 50's/60's song. It has that sound but Alice Cooper would've been called a Satan back then.
Being a child of the 80's, Poison is by far my favourite Alice Cooper song

This was on Billion Dollar Babies, his/their breakout album -- his/their because at this point Alice Cooper was BOTH the front man AND the band's name.
The "seasoning" of a cast iron skillet really is just called "seasoning" -- the burnt on, unwashed, rubbed down carbon build-up that used to be oil, but has become like Teflon, has no special term.
