    Excelente. You invested a lot of time and effort into this report so many thanks. This is the type of deep insight dollar resource I have been curious about. I like the Colonia Uruguay run but my Schwab withdrawal daily limit is 1000 bucks. I tried twice to up my limit but found out it's really a Visa associated card limit and they turned me down. I think they turn everybody down because my credit history is golden so that can't be the reason. Possibly best for me would be to bring the 10k USD with me and then, under no pressure look into the P2P swaps through Whatsapp which I had no idea that even existed.
    Maybe at some point you could shed more light on your statement that one can bring more than 10k into the country if it is declared at customs. Could I bring, say 20k USD and declare it?

      Theoretically, you fill out a form that documents the source of the money is legitimate (no money laundering or illegal activity) and are good to go. But practically, I wouldn't do it. Just too many things that could go wrong.
      Also note that the $10000 dollar limit isn't just your departure and arrival country, but also any stopover or transit countries, so you need to ensure compliance in each country.

      @@nomadicfire Ah so, I had been thinking a bit about the conceivable desireabilty of re-upping my USD stocks in Ecuador which uses the buck as its official currency but like you say too many things can go kerflooey. I could try solving the issue of needing dollars by finding a place to rent in pesos. I guess that'd be possible and then I wouldn't need dollars.

    What's the daily limit on cash withdrawals from that bank in Uruguay?

    • @nomadicfire
      @nomadicfire  Месяц назад

      I was able to get two withdrawals of $500, but I'm not sure if that was the max. I also assume the amount differs depending on your bank.

    My biggest question would be the banks and access to credit. I currently have deposits with BBVA and saw that they have branches there and offer wierd accounts that hold your assets in ARS/USD/EUR ... would that be a effective way of getting USD into the country?

      Let's start with can you open a bank account here. Do you have a DNI or are you coming in visa-exempt?

      @@nomadicfire thanks for the reply! I'm American (visa free) and looking at a Investor or Restista Visa for the long term towards citizenship.
      I'd really like to avoid dealing with the banks getting a couple treasury packs of bills and REALLY like to avoid the hassle of customs and traveling with a duffel bag of cash out of the US and into Argentina.

    • @nomadicfire

      Honestly, I'm not 100% certain how US dollar denominated accounts held in Argentina banks would work. There has to be a catch. I'll phrase it this way. If it was that easy, every Argentine would have a USD account at BBVA and anyone could wire transfer. Instead, we have to jump through crazy hoops. One landlord we had had a US dollar bank account outside the country and accepted payments that way. Probably the easiest.
