  • How much does it cost to rebuild a wrecked motorcycle?
That’s the question I heard the most when rebuilding my wrecked Yamaha R1, so in this video I go into details about cost of the parts used for the rebuild
From the fairings, to the rear sets, to the headlight and the rear subframe, I give all prices, as well as the total cost of repairs and time spent on the bike 🔧
And frosting on the cake, I tell how much I sold the bike et tell you the profit of the operation…
I really hope it helps and answers your question associated to the cost of this project, if you have any questions, let me know in the comments, I’ll do my best to answer them ✌️

    Hi I'm Tristan!
I live in New York and when I'm not working on my fitness clothing line (yoked.net) I DIY with intensity 😅
For now, I restore wrecked motorcycles. So I disassemble, weld, machine and fix those bikes so they can go back on the road!

Yeah man. I just rebuilt an 05. I even threw carbon on the swingarm/frame/ram air lol. And then I hit a deer on the highway. Lol. Its been rebuilt again. Funny how the swingarms are so cheap, for some reason. I was looking at them also recently. Mines got a nasty gouge from the previous owner. Couldn't believe how cheap they go for. Weird? But, yea... I mean, if your only desire is to ride and nothing else and you want to be in a good financial position, then sure, get a moderately wrecked bike, fix anything mechanical, run it as a street fighter. Once you try to bring it back to oem standards (or close enough...) it gets expensive, penny by penny... slowly... and it really adds up. Its so easy to buy a bike at a "good deal" and spend way more than if you bought an immaculate model kept in perfect condition by a seller asking a high price for it's age. But you indeed are paying for the project... you are paying for a future return of pride when its done and unique to you, and to learn a lot along the way.

To make money it’s a bad idea, but to build a bike to keep or for a track bike, it’s not bad because you can do it little by little over time and build it exactly how you want.

I don't know how long you held out for a good sale or what kind of people you had talking to you, But you should have held out longer on selling the bike. Yeah I'm sure you want to get it sold but that bike in that condition is worth over $7,000. You sold it for just for not too much more than the dealership trade in value for that bike. You did such a great build and you didn't make a mistake on your purchases or anything. You did a great job everywhere. Where you would want to improve is your salesmanship and finding a true market value for what you have and for what you did. It's basically a brand new bike now with not many miles on it.

Hmm. I did ask what you were thinking when you started on that bike. I thought you were going to keep it, not sell it on. You rebuilt it well though, well done.

Fantastic series. Watched from start to finish over the last 2 days. I have a 2006 R1 I won at auction due to be delivered, but (hopefully) with some relatively light front end damage. It’s a ‘Cat N’ in the UK so should be non-structural damage. Will take a look through your channel for your other content.

Sorting out a crash victim can work out the same as buying an uncrashed one , saving grace is you dont have to pay for it all at once , however if theres been an insurance claim against it , it can come back to haunt you .

@@R-Will I've bought a few crash victims .. last was a bmw r1200s ..I gave a thousand pounds for it ...only light panel and fairing supports and usually sticky out bits ... by the time I had bought the bits and fitted them ...then got the bike painted etc it worked out at the same sort of cash that would have bought me an un crashed one to start with .. so if its not common and parts are hard to get rebuilding a crashed bike may not be the bargain you think it is.... one bent bit more and I would have seriously been on the negative side cost wise .. that's all i'm saying ..good luck with your project though.
