- Sabal minor or otherwise known as a Dwarf Palmetto is a beautiful compact palm with huge fronds and a subterranean trunk. It is know as one of the most cold hardy palmate palms in the world.
Good looking palm. Put in full sun where you are if possible
You picked a good one
That is a beautiful minor
It's always great to get a deal, especially a beauty of a plant.
Ouch, no wonder they sat for a few years. That’s a nice looking one. I probably would’ve gotten two. I have 5 in the garden and they have never flinched. Never protected them so they should do well for you. Put in your hottest spot and give them frequent water and hopefully they’ll set seed.
This looks really nice !! Would like to be able to order one's this size at a good price. I can vouch on the hardyness. I'm in Sotheast Michigan and both my Sabal Minor and Needle Palms made it through the winter with basically no damage and only lightly covered with no heat during the middle of winter. I'm in zone 6A 20 minute drive from 6B.
dang thats expensive. I got mine a little bigger than that for $70 usd. in salem oregon
Good deal, they are uncommon here hence the price.
lovely
Looking great palm brother 👍🏻🥰 zone 2 world record push on hold till spring 2024 so I can sink another $1000 into the underground insulation and protection and get it from a 7 gallon to slightly more mature 😉🤣👍🏻. I will be pushing it over winter 2023/2024 indoors with a germination mat and high grow bulb exposure to keep it growing big until spring 2024 planting. 🤞🏻❤️
at least it’ll give you a few hundred seeds a year
i think you got a good price i dont think ive ever seen one for sale in washington state(no i havent been to evey nursery!) I hate to find out the same palm is like $30 in florida.
Large healthy specimen 😊
And, a soda pop can helps.
How well do they deal with wet winters?
so far so good based on my buddies yard who has three large ones several years now without issues. It may be just as tolerant as fortunei. In its native habitat it also lives in wetlands.
499$ is plain robbery! I bought mine for 30$ but I’m in Texas they grow naturally here.
Exactly.
Oof $500? These grow wild in Texas
everything grows wild somewhere. lol
@@palmdaddy can plants be driven from US to CA without inspection? ...maybe that's why so expensive 🤔
Arkansas- ar/ kan/ SAW. I know- it wasn’t my idea. Beautiful minor. They are very slow here in the PNW
that sabel looks great! was it from CR, any left? i want one!
Cedar Rim yes, a few left, tell ‘em I sent ya and score the same deal!
