    I danced with my wife at our wedding in 1978 and she left this live in
    2015 this brings tears to my eyes everytime I heard it. It came on the car and I had to pull over to recover.

    What made Peter Cetera voice so unique is when he got up to the high range he didn't use a falsetta voice it was his real natural voice I don't know too many people can do that if at all which makes him probably the best vocalist in the world if you think about it.

      Chicago would never have come about if the night club hadn’t booked The Big Thing and The Exceptions on the same night. TBT, (Chicago), was in desperate need of a bass player and a tenor voice to round out their sound and Cetera was looking to move on because The Exceptions had just about run its course. At the end of the show, several members of TBT had liked what they heard in Cetera and approached him with an invitation to join the band. Cetera had also heard TBT and liked their sound as well, so deciding to move on was an easy choice to make.
      Cetera and Chicago had a pretty good 17 year run until Peter was burned out emotionally and fed up with the band’s brutal touring schedule. By 1985, Cetera had cleaned his life up, lost weight and was a new father. He wanted time off to spend with his family, rest a little and to work on a solo album. Chicago refused to make ANY concessions, so Cetera told them to start looking for a replacement because he’d be leaving at the end of the Chicago 17 tour.
      Even though there were no collaborations or reunions in their futures, both Cetera and Chicago have moved on gracefully.

    Life seemed so much easier then. I'd go back to 1979 in a heartbeat. These were simpler times...great music, people actually talked to each other; they didn't have their heads buried in their iPhones. Starbucks had only just opened the year before...There are many great things about social media but, we've lost something along the way.

    Peter looks as great as he sings. In my opinion, he was one of the best looking musicians back in the 70's and 80's. And he still looks and sings as good today as he did back then. He is a very talented guy and so glad to see he is still out there performing!

      SHARON LAFOREST - I'm with you there, sister! Peter was at the top of his game. Hey, if you want to see an overlooked vocalist bass player from that era; google Benjamin Orr. He was 'the Voice' of many of your favorite CARS songs. Had he been properly credited and marketed, he could have been viewed as the most gorgeous man in Rock. Really! Men go on and on about his "beauty", almost as much as we girls do, cos he had such a cool Rock God vibe. Sadly he passed away in 2000 from pancreatic cancer. He looked more beautiful than most women but he was one tough, manly man and his voice, style and bass playing was incredible. Here's a link to their breakout European tour, filmed for "Rock Goes To College" 1979 in England. ruclips.net/video/UvI1RhNvQro/видео.html
      The LIVE video from Paris,France and Germany are just as, if not more, tantalizing.

    Peter deserves all the kudos he get for his singing and bass playing; and Jimmy rates mucho praise for his writing this gem. However, it is Walt's fantabulous soprano sax solo which makes "Just You 'n' Me" the classic it is. On this night, with a fierce wind blowing, he REALLY smoked it!

    This is an awesome live version of what is really a very intimate song....and I love how they added a tinge of the disco flavor they were into in 1979. Yes, it apparently didn't work for them too well on that year's Chicago 13, but it works well here. I'd love to see and hear more songs from their 1979 tour to find out if this was a thing they were doing with some of their playlists.

      Foster Mac There are judgmental people who draw conclusions about another person without any solid basis for doing so, other than what they've heard or read. It's typically a sign of envy and/or inferiority. They speak negatively about another because they don't feel good about themselves. We all know a few of those people, they're the ones we try to avoid.

    • @fostermac7170
      @fostermac7170 9 лет назад +14

      Yep, cause Cetera is as good as it gets in professional music. I mean he gets blamed for sappy this and that, but the reality is he provided the record label EXACTLY what they were looking for. And he had the vocal chops to carry ALL of the upper register vocals for the band. I'm not sure that people realize what kind of talent you have to possess to do this and play bass (of all instruments). I mean there music wasn't typical 4/4 music, they had jazz, rock, soul and balladry as part of their repertoire, and it takes some sho'nuff talent to do that.

    Величайшая группа. Во времена когда был записан один из фундаментальных альбомов "Chicago VI", слушали на КВ "Радио Монте-Карло"через шумы пытались понять, и накопив нужную сумму покупали LP. Тогда можно было все послушать в деталях. Не скажу что было много номерных альбомов в коллекции, но самое-самое было точно. Для меня "ChicagoVI" до сих пор один из любимых.

      moodylicious It’s really awful. I’d have expected more from a pro sax player. Peter Cetera’s bass playing was the true star of that interlude, if you can hear it through the amateurish noodling.

      He wasn't even the best musician in chicago, maybe once terry died !! Terry cud not be replaced as evidenced by chicago becoming a pop band after his death. Cetera has been replaced many times

    Chicago had the "illest" brass section of the '70s, to iclude Earth, Wind & Fire. THIS is what the big band brass sound was all about!!!
