    So a guy who won 14 races this year can lose the championship to a guy who has won 0 races if the guy who won the 14 races has a bad day? Hmm...

      @@zorpa9618 true, as a Busch fan myself its stupid yeah, but he won the playoffs which is a hard thing to do (btw he attended all the races in 2019 and had the highest avgfn) but lets say u win a race in round of 12 or 16, like 3 races later thats completely removed. But in the Winston Cup format, a win could mean the championship itself. Frick, sometimes leading a single lap could mean the championship (1992 champipnship battle, 205 lap race, Bill Elliott pitted missing a lap, Alan Kulwicki would lead, Alan would lead 103 Bill would lead 101, if he lead that lap. It would be a tiebreaker for wins. Bill had 5 Alan had 2) and a win could mean anything (Mark Martin failed after race tech inspection after the race docking him 46 points, he would lose the championship by 26 points) but true. Kyle was like 24th in points *and still* made it to the championship

    • @stephenholloway6893
      @stephenholloway6893 5 лет назад

      If you win a points paying race before the chase starts. Or you could point your way in if there's less then 15 drivers who won. The regular season champion also gets in even if that driver is winless by then.

    • @TackyJhudiel3
      @TackyJhudiel3 3 года назад

      To get yourself into the chase grid, you need to either have enough points or by winning a race in the regular season to get into the chase. 26 races are regular season races while 10 are sprint cup chase races.

    Worst championship crowning format in sports, period. To make matters worse, this year, they don't even call it the Chase. Just take away from NASCAR's identity, and go politically correct calling it the playoffs. Wait about 3-4 years, and the format's going to change again. If not sooner.
