Brad Banks thumb was injured at some point in the 2nd qtr. The coaches should've noticed this and pulled him for a bit to get it looked at or taped. Clearly he couldn't hang onto the ball for that reason. One bad qtr kept this team from possibly playing Miami for their 1st NC. It would've been a huge draw over OSU though . Playoff needed back then for sure!!! They might possibly have ended up in Orange Bowl anyway but it's fun to play what if!
Seneca Wallace was such an underrated star. Man beat FSU when they were #1 but got screwed due to replay not existing
You won't find a lot of college fb players who have played a better half than Seneca Wallace in this second half. It was his show.

They lost to usc 38 to 17 in their bowl so they wouldn't have won NC

After Iowa State got all the way to be ranked 7th in the nation, they only won one game after that.
and Iowa won 9 straight games many in blowout fashion after this loss. 2002 is still considered by many the best Hawkeye football team ever.

He was a senior (came in as a juco transfer). And I wouldn’t say he flopped. He was a serviceable backup for a decade.
