Lord know's if Bjork or the producer came up with that beat. One of them had to be on acid. And you, my man, are giving me an acid trip with this track. Bravo.
both Bjork & Mark Bell -- they had a very close working relationship. You can't give one all the credit, it's never an either/or, but a LOT of the credit does go to Bjork.
You gave this a good crack. I was lucky enough to see them perform this at Glastonbury 2007 ... I don't really have words to describe it. RIP Mr Bell. LFO 4eva.
Amazing! One of my favorite songs and definitely something to aspire to as I learn the ins and outs of that awesome instrument -- just got mine a few days ago and it's fantastic.
Mine should arrive tomorrow. Thanks for doing this demo, this really is the best one. I understand what can be done with this machine and most of the demos don't take it where you did with this one. Bravo!
All great tools that will work together well. I'm one of those folks who don't have to use everything all the time but likes the advantage of an eclectic tool box
Ooh If travel is searching And home has been found I'm not stopping I'm going hunting I'm the hunter I'll bring back the goods But I don't know when I thought I could organize freedom How Scandinavian of me En-cha-le-li En-cha-le You sussed it out, didn't you? Yeah! You could smell it So you left me on my own To complete the mission Now I'm leaving it all behind I'm going hunting I'm the hunter, I'm the hunter I'm going hunting I'm the hunter, I'm the hunter I'm the hunter, I'm the hunter I'm the hunter Ooh
This was great! I was on the fence about the Drumbrute but now I think it's a definite buy. I'm in the process of transitioning from DAWs to hardware and think that beats would be the first place to start.
I've not much money to spend as I've recently been laid off from work but I need something to keep me going! I'll work up to an elektron eventually! I'm looking to spend around $500 US or less at the moment. I just sent my MIDI controller out for repairs. My plan is to have a new piece of hardware to play with by the time it comes back.
Ahh, good to know... Yeah, I really enjoyed doing this one, it had been on my bucket list for a long time but there was no way I could've done it with the Volcas 😄
Hey, Love it! I recently bought an Elektron Analog Rytm MKII but have been falling in love with the sound of the DrumBrute, in particular this video (the kick in particular)...Do you know if there are DrumBrute samples that could be loaded into the Rytm in order to reproduce something like this or will it always sound different using the Rytm? Thanks!
It is awesome! This rhythm is so complicated, that I am under big impression of your work! True - this is the best advertisement of this synth I have seen... I see you have Elektron gear, and here I have a question; can Drumbrute have pattern changed (slave) by external device (I have Octatrack as a master)? How many patterns you can have per 1 song? And how many songs can be stored in memory in Drumbrute? I seriously consider buying this synth, so your remarks will be very precious for me ;)
Excellent work! Deepest Congrats! I have one question for you, I hope you can help me ;-): Have you tried the DBrute synced with Pro Tools by any chance? I tried the Beatstep Pro and it doesn't sync properly, it loses the tempo. Wondering if the same happens with the DBrute, before buying it. Thanks and happy new year! ;-)
At 0:52 you took your hand off Kick1...How did you get it to keep swelling in and out without manually adjusting the level? Awesome demo - I'm picking mine up this week :)
The pattern continues without the swelling in and out after I let go, it sounds like it's still there, but I think it's an illusion... Thanks for the kind words 😃
Thank you! All the gear is input on separate tracks onto my old Roland VS 880 hard disc recorder, and then to a Yamaha mg10xu mixer, then into my camera mic input
Great stuff! The snare pattern seems a little off though, I think the "3" is usually on the beat in the original o..o..o..o......, not o..o..o...o..... ;)
Yeah, I listened to it again earlier and was kind of blown away by the variability of the drum programming - I had exactly that 3 over 2 pattern in my mind as well thinking of the song, but it only really appears in a couple of places for real. Fascinating. I like your version two though, feels "handmade" as opposed to pre-programmed.
Well, Bell's original version of the beat actually IS "handmade" - only the kick was programmed, he triggered the snare via a MIDI controller which was played completely live. That's why we hear such differences in rhythm between patterns. According to one Björk interview, he actually recorded it live in one single take
Thank you! The first song I ever sequenced was Bizarre Love Triangle on my cousin's Atari ST and his Casio CZ 101 in 1989. Maybe I should revisit the Substance album 😉
Interesting. It sounds pretty crisp in this video. Most demos I have seen so far sound a bit flat. Any thoughts on the Roland TR-09? I'm on the fence between the Brute and the 09. Appreciate your feedback. Loved your acid sessions with the Volcas.
Thanks, I don't have any experience with the tr9. If you're looking for those 909 type sounds tr9 is probably the one you should get. If you want an analog drum machine that has its own sound, and tons of performance features, I'd go with the drumbrute
How much does the drumbrute fit in an experimental comtext like this? I ask cuz I make a lot of music that includes different velocity and pitch per step on drums, with lots of flams and substeps. So I ask if the drumbrute (and it's sequencer) can fit this task : )
I ended up selling it... For more experimental beats I'd recommend the Elektron Machinedrum. Versatile, punchy enough to cut through any mix, and highly programmable. They are highly sought after though and $$$.
Volca Drum is another bang for buck DM. Small, cheap, but big sound and also versatile. Pocket Operator Tonic gets an honorable mention for sounding so good at its price point.
Lord know's if Bjork or the producer came up with that beat. One of them had to be on acid. And you, my man, are giving me an acid trip with this track. Bravo.
I know I'm late and all, but that would be the late, great, Mark Bell.
Acid? It isn't that crazy lmao.
Yep Mark Bell. RIP.
both Bjork & Mark Bell -- they had a very close working relationship. You can't give one all the credit, it's never an either/or, but a LOT of the credit does go to Bjork.
On Björk’s instagram account she details that Mark Bell had played the beat over her voice and string arrangement.
You gave this a good crack. I was lucky enough to see them perform this at Glastonbury 2007 ... I don't really have words to describe it. RIP Mr Bell. LFO 4eva.
Thanks!
Amazing what you (can) do with the Drumbrute. You are "A wizzard, a true star".
Amazing! One of my favorite songs and definitely something to aspire to as I learn the ins and outs of that awesome instrument -- just got mine a few days ago and it's fantastic.
Definitely bang for buck. Great machine! Thanks 😃
CHALLENGE....If you don't get inspired after watching this you have no soul. JohnG approved this message...GAS ME UP!!
:)
Inspired: Yes
Convinced to buy a drumbrute: No
I still listen to this years later. Fire.
Best work on the Drumbrute I've seen by far, super fat man, dig it heaps
Right on Mr Schtang, means a lot coming from fellow button pushers l look up to 😃
it's NOT the gear, technique, or how many years you spent studying classical, it's what you do with it and how it sounds that matters.
SO true
One of my favourite Björk songs, well done! Love it!
Thanks so much!
I love Mark Bell, and I love what you did with his song, it is truly fantastic, and a worthy tribute to his work.
Amazing work I wish I could do that.
Thanks for the kind words 👊
You made the drum brute sound like a 909. That’s hot
"The force is strong with this one."
May the force be with you
Woooooooowwwwww. Great job! One of my favorite beats and songs.
Holy FunK(!) This one got me stupid hype, pretty sick performance man; especially the way it comes back around towards the end. Ka-pow. 🎹🎚🎛🎧💥🔥
Veryyy dope. One of the coolest beats ive ever heard. Such a cool song. Good job!
Yessss!!! One of my favorite Bjork tracks. You got it down...now add effects :P
Haha yes, and the chorus, and bjork's beautiful voice
tamBIEN es una de mis favoritas, la que más me gusta es storm
The only good demo I've seen so far from this.
Thanks for the kind words!
That's not first one I listen to your Jam, and that's always as good as the time !
Excellent live work, man! It's inspiring to get cracking on a demo, myself! Keep up the solid work.
Thanks for the kind words and support 😃
Looks like an awesome drum machine. Great job on the jam.
Thank you! Wanted to give it a proper demo 😃
amazing! so glad to see people really exploring it.
Exploring is the way!
Mine should arrive tomorrow. Thanks for doing this demo, this really is the best one. I understand what can be done with this machine and most of the demos don't take it where you did with this one. Bravo!
Thanks! I kept wanting to do this cover but didn't have the right machine, til now 😃
Really good cover! Great song choice! You nailed it! Just shared it on my Facebook!
Thank you! Been wanting to cover it for years, but I didn't have a capable drum machine til now 😃
I'm convinced now, this is my next purchase :)
Thanks 😃
This is the trippiest song ever.
Siiiick!

I’m slowly starting to like this thing. This vid was the turning point lol
I use it sometimes, not all the time. I think my main drum machine is the machinedrum. They complement each other well...
Mattelica funny you say that bc that’s what I really want haha the new audiothinies box looks cool too...
All great tools that will work together well. I'm one of those folks who don't have to use everything all the time but likes the advantage of an eclectic tool box
Ooh
If travel is searching

But I don't know when
I thought I could organize freedom
How Scandinavian of me

Yeah!
You could smell it
So you left me on my own

I'm going hunting
I'm the hunter, I'm the hunter
I'm the hunter, I'm the hunter

Ooh
It's from the mind of Mark Bell of LFO. Just listen to his "Frequencies" album from 1990 and you will see how futuristic he was back then. RIP
This was great! I was on the fence about the Drumbrute but now I think it's a definite buy. I'm in the process of transitioning from DAWs to hardware and think that beats would be the first place to start.
Thanks! What's your budget? I'd recommend something like the elektron a4 or keys. That's my workstation flagship
I've not much money to spend as I've recently been laid off from work but I need something to keep me going! I'll work up to an elektron eventually! I'm looking to spend around $500 US or less at the moment. I just sent my MIDI controller out for repairs. My plan is to have a new piece of hardware to play with by the time it comes back.
wow. now you got a Dbrute, too, like Hardtek. Guys , I start wanting one myself! You touch it for this remix and turned it already to gold. great job!
Thanks again Mr. Kopp. I had this song in mind even before I received my drumbrute. It's very capable of many things 😃
well. obviously, so are you.
Excellent drumbruting!
Excellent work!
Thanks for the kind words 😃
What a gem/jam! Excellent work! 👏
Thank you kindly!
impressive work.
Thanks 😃
I think this goes to show that if you know how to work a Drum Brute the right way, Its a real banger.
Fuck yeah, Best drumbrute vid I've seen. Nice work!
Right on, thanks!
How did I miss this? This is absolutely awesome.
Haha thanks 😄. What I wanna know is how you ended up finding a it
RUclips gave me a nice little layout of a bunch of your videos on my homepage and I realized I had not listened to this one.
Ahh, good to know... Yeah, I really enjoyed doing this one, it had been on my bucket list for a long time but there was no way I could've done it with the Volcas 😄
Great demo, nice shallow DOF as well.
This was fucking fantastic, well done!
Awesome, thank you for the kind words 😄
This is INCREDIBLE
Omg!!!!!! Ugh!!!!!! So fucking amazing!! Soundgasm 100 percent!
Thanks so much, such a great song to begin with 😃
Hey, Love it! Wow thanks 😃 that's funny, I usually hear the opposite, that the drumbrute kick is trash...
HELL YEAH!!!!!
Thank you sir!
The two of you are my favorite synth player/demo-ers on youtube right now.
Oh my gawd !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow !!! Well done !
Great performance
Thanks! I knew it was gonna be a challenge. I actually practiced a few days before attempting a take
A really great interpretation! Well done
Thank you 😃
If you make a vid explaining these techniques I’d love you forever 😍
that hat groove is infectious!
Thanks 😃 Funny, folks don't like the drumbrute hi hats...
im ordering one today... what rating wud u give it on 10 ?
8/10. The kicks are not to my taste... Love the snare and hi hats tho

Dude. This is incredible.

Yeah man. Super dope.
Thanks for the kind words 😃
You should cover Autechre live @ Glasgow arts schools part 4.
I love Autechre. Definitely on the to do list 😃
WOW! Nice man!
Thanks!
GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
THIS IS AWESOME
Excellent work! Deepest Congrats! I have one question for you, I hope you can help me ;-): Have you tried the DBrute synced with Pro Tools by any chance? I tried the Beatstep Pro and it doesn't sync properly, it loses the tempo. Wondering if the same happens with the DBrute, before buying it. Thanks and happy new year! ;-)
no sync problems yet, in fact i use it as my master clock. it has plenty of different types of outs too, so i think it will be fine with syncing
At 0:52 you took your hand off Kick1...How did you get it to keep swelling in and out without manually adjusting the level?

Hi... Do you have any mail to ride you some questions about this video? thanks a lot.
PS. Amazing works. :)
Excellent work. I'm still new to the electronic scene (classical musician), whats the signal path for the keys in this setup?
Thank you! All the gear is input on separate tracks onto my old Roland VS 880 hard disc recorder, and then to a Yamaha mg10xu mixer, then into my camera mic input
Great work👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I wanna get your skill🙂
Thanks! Just have fun 😃
Harikasın ellerine sağlık
Love this as Homogenic is one of my favorite albums. What did they use on the original tracks back in 1997? Great vid!
Thank you, I read somewhere it was a Roland TR 909
DRUMBRUTE 4 LIFE
Is it not possible to record the parameters eg. the kick volume, snare decay etc? Always locked to the value on the knob?
I believe you are correct
@@Mattelica Damn, shame. Thx for the answer
No prob
qiero ese Instrumento ahora
this is the perfect kind of tune to show the power of a real analog drum machine, instead of the copy like the AIRA roland line up.
Thank you, I'd been wanting to do it but didn't have the capable drum machine, til now 😃
Love this!
Thank you 😃
ese instrumento me recuerda a star fox en venom highway fase 1..... sorprendente
I LOVE IT!! is there a way that i can get your wav file of this (just for my private plassure) i would buy it!! cheerz.
Thanks so much! Unfortunately I don't mix and master the cover jams, only originals 🙁
That's amazing !
Thank you😃
If ever you're looking for some vocals on this, I'm singer and completely in love with Björk music. ^^
Just watched some of your videos. You are a very talented singer and musician! Maybe we can collaborate on original music as well?
Just subbed to your channel...
how did u do that!!?????? it’s so fucking gooooood!!!
Fuck ya dude I love that song and you rocked to bejesus out of it!
Thanks 😄!
Wow! this is so damn good!!
Thanks 😃
Sickness...still digging the drumbrute?
Yes, it's earned a spot in my studio 😃
Awesome!
Thanks 😃
Great stuff! The snare pattern seems a little off though, I think the "3" is usually on the beat in the original o..o..o..o......, not o..o..o...o..... ;)
Mark Bell programmed the hell out of a 909... He had so many changes with patterns, maybe I got a couple right 😄

I'm not a massive fan of the sound of the drumbrute, but it really comes to life when you play it! Great song choice too!
thanks 👊. I did end up selling it. it couldn't punch through a mix...
Just subbed! Love Mark Bell & LFO. Loving your videos. Cover a New Order song soon.
Thank you! The first song I ever sequenced was Bizarre Love Triangle on my cousin's Atari ST and his Casio CZ 101 in 1989. Maybe I should revisit the Substance album 😉
That would be fantastic! How do you like the Drumbrute?
Drumbrute is great. Needs some post editing but I love it
is it possible to automate the volume control only with the dr.brute?
I don't think so, tho I never tried, but I think I read somewhere that it does not record live edits
Another great display. How are you liking the Brute? It seems to be getting a lot of mixed reviews.
Thanks 😄, yes mixed feelings about the brute. I like some sounds, hate some, but love the performance features. Keeper for me at least
Interesting. It sounds pretty crisp in this video. Most demos I have seen so far sound a bit flat. Any thoughts on the Roland TR-09? I'm on the fence between the Brute and the 09. Appreciate your feedback. Loved your acid sessions with the Volcas.

There's the Erica Synths LXR-02 that I've been interested in for the same reasons, that ones around $600. Bang for buck I'd say.
