At this time, it wasn't as common as it is today for rappers to get famous off falsely repping a fake persona. Perhaps but it’s irrelevant, because neither are gangster. Assuming all of us agree on the definitions of being a gangster in the first place, fairly certain we can all agree exploiting a violent lifestyle which ruins millions of lives all the time in order to prop yourself up as a rising talent and make money off it is not ever going to sit well with people from the actual lifestyle you rap about. So by admitting you don’t give it up how you claim in your raps, that’s not “gangster” it’s merely an admission that he’s willfully mocking the audience he needs as fans by talking about shit from their daily lives as though he’s experiencing it too. Sure many rappers do similar shit, so do many entertainers period. But thats never an excuse and it does not mean dude shouldn’t be called out. He should, and so should everyone like him.

I don’t think the Vlad interview ruined his career. In fact, I think it actually helped it. In the aftermath of that interview, he just continued to blow up and become even more of a meme. The real reason why he fell off is because he just stopped making music, so everyone forgot about him.
If he continued to make music, he wouldn’t have been as big as he was during his peak, but he probably would’ve had maintained a consistent viewership.
If he didn’t admit to being an act, I think that would’ve been even worse for his career as it could’ve been quite dangerous and he could’ve had the same fate as the Island Boys, or even worse, 6IX9INE. But after the Vlad interview, I think people realized that he was just messing around and basically a meme rapper that you shouldn’t take seriously, making him more comparable to Lil Mabu these days.

Slim walked so *a lot* of these rappers could run! In regards to being fake and getting far with it, 69 and CJ are the first to come to mind. But also for rappers to be honest about not being certain things, like Rick Ross admitting to be a CO. Or like other rappers that came out and basically said “everything I rap about, I don’t do! I just rap about it! All these substances I rap about enjoying; not taking _any_ of them!” And people still continued to listen, enjoy and sadly follow their bad influence via music. So Slim genuinely deserves more credit - he changed the game!
Exactly! I listen to all types of music but my favorite is punk rock and heavy metal. People that listen to heavy metal don't think that the bands they listen to "Shout at the Devil" or ride the "Highway to Hell" literally, they know it's just a song and not a description of their lifestyle. I Love NWA, but they changed the face of rap music forever. Rap became Gangsta Rap, and now you can't find one artist or group that doesn't follow that narrative. Remember when RUN DMC rapped about going to college? The only group I can think of that didn't rap about robbing and killing after gangsta rap became the dominant narrative is A Tribe Called Quest. I respect the kid for coming out and saying he's not really a killer. I wish more rappers would abandon this ignorant shit. There's a million other things you could rap about, issues that affect the black community. Rap could be used to inspire young listeners to stand up and make positive changes, to be active and make their lives better. To me, rap music nowadays is the most depressing thing I see. I think it's sad that rap fans demand "authenticity". So you get rappers saying things like "oh I'm from the hood and I knew gangsters and people that have been shot."

He hasn't released tracks in the past 2 years. After taking a look at his channel drill time got over 60 million views, his follow up got 7 mil, then 2 mil and then
2 vids with around 620k views each. If he continued he'd probably get at least 400k per video which should be enough to make money.
In his follow up to drill time he still had the fake gun but the lyrics felt dialed down. I think this was a mistake he definitely should've
leaned into the persona more especially since he was so transparent about it being just entertainment.
The kid shouldn't have been trying to portray himself as someone in that life, not over the semantics or dishonesty, but that it was pretty dangerous to do it.
