I'm a former homeless person and that location is not near bus, trolley service. Pacific highway is not safe. It's hard enough to get help if there's 1,000 people in one building, why.

Don't worry surrounding neighbors the homeless will be coming to visiting your home while you're sleeping.
That's what they're doing where I'm living taking everything that's not welded down.

You have to start somewhere. The plan to use existing facilities and to "renvive" them for the cause of accommodating the homeless is a great one; the solutions tried in L.A. County for instance have been quite costly. But when the needs are immediate - the quicker the City of San Diego can put together a new shelter or camping site to offer to the public at large (homeless public)...the better..Searching for the perfect solution or trying indefinitely to find funding for a new shelter that offers "wrap-around services".....takes far too long.

Why is everything so expensive in your country?

At a cost of 30 million per year, you could put each of those thousand people in rental units costing $2,500 per month. This type of shelter generally does not allow people to stay during the day. People have belongings, they wouldnt be safe in this type of shelter, and no one wants to lug their stuff all day long. People need a home not a part-time bed.

Oh nice, so you're saying I can move back to San Diego and get a free apartment worth $2500 per month with your plan? The stipulation is just that I should choose not to work in order to get this all for free?
