2003 1.4 MPI 8V since 2019. New water pump, clutch, front shock absorbers, hidraulic tappets, O2, map and knock sensors (except the clutch all had 20 years old). Charcoal canister went bad but I made a bypass. Catalyst still pass emissions test after 20 years. I like my cars running good and this Fabia serves me well. The parts are not expensive as in other brands, maybe because the parts for this car also fit in many VW and Seats.
I have a vRS for 3 years - few age related issues - Starter motor trigger wire had to be extended and remade - passenger side electric window cable failed - injector loom was replaced - these are all age related issues - I service every 10k km and car has been really easy on fuel ! Great wee cars !
My 2001 1.9 suffered from wiring loom failure, due to internal corrosion of the wires. Random ABS faults, EPS failure, various lamps not working and eventually not starting. The loom isn't available... Three days of chopping the loom and and repairing it, all is well again (for now at least) However, it is a 2001 car with 208000 miles on it, so it's done amazingly well and I hope it will continue to do so!
Great budget car IMO. Had two estates/combi's. 1.4 MPI for four years then 1.9TDI currently for 5 years. Both been good. Drop links don't last, electric window regulators are rubbish and have had odd electrical operations (but have still worked..) and failing central locking/door locks. I hear the electric power steering pump can fail but I've been ok. Loads of info on briskoda forum and cheap spares. I recommend one.
Just bought a 1.2 Fabia combi a month ago and gears just went today. Don't know if it's a gear selector or gearbox problem but I heard a knocking sound and gears just went. Any advice?
i bought this car (used car 2001 model) recently and interior quality is extremely good for that price mine has gas tank built in so the car consumes little fuel can use cheapest fuel its great. the only problem i have something depletes the accumulator i left the car for 14 days and i couldnt start it i had to charge.the accumulator my electritian doesnt know whats the issue the accumulator was brand new so i have no clue.
I also just bought a model from 2001, an 1.4 16 V Sedan with only 35 000 km driven. So far fantastic. It uses quite a lot of oil. So check the oil frequently and refresh. Same with water. Otherwise I am very happy, great driving. Sedan Elegance has all kinds of features like Seat Heating, great for an old small car.
Bought a 2001 1.4 with 75 PS, which was never used, it had only 35 000 km (!!) and in perfect condition. Version is Elegance, i find it very comfortable and great driving. Can it last another 10 years? Please coment! Thanks
Yes it can last. Just look after rust patches and fix them.. is not hard at all to repair. Planty of room to do works around the engine if necessary. I replaced the rear suspension with new springs and shock absorbers, just because they look old and one spring was looking a bit rusted; instead of breaking down on the road, better replace it in time! A spring with rust on it is not a good sign; I know that from BMW.. The car gives better handling now, it is not bouncing around as much.. a happy boy, I am now.. Comparing with BMW 3 series that I own it is very easy to maintain a car like this. And cheap on insurance cost; ohh dear, yes!
My skoda fabia 2005 automatic engine is not stables, it jiggle meaning the the asclerator goes up and down at the same time the car find it difficult to climb hills
Great car. I own one 1.4 16 valves Petrol 89 miles. It's a keeper.

Usual VW problems, like electric window mechanism failing, doorlocks failing. But everything is cheap for the car, so no pain to fix it.
What main check point we should check when we bought 10 year old Fabia 1.2 petrol MPI active engine , 37000 Driven, Country - India.
