- This is a tribute video to the now closed Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. Special thanks to WWE Entertainment, 2015 BMX Red Bull and the NFL Network for contributions.
I am from Australia and it was the venue I got to see my fav band, Metallica for the first time. July 4th 2003. Blew my mind. People of Detroit were some of the most welcoming and friendly I have encountered.
Good times, fond memories.
Well, today was a failed demolition, I guess that the silver dome won’t go down today. It’s spirit is still standing
I spent alot of Christmas and Thanksgiving day games here.. And even NYE 99... The best concert of my life!!! Always remember the crowd...and the cheers RIP. PSD
I think no one of the Old school Wrestlingfans will ever forget the Magnificent Silverdome. I will miss him.😢
Was once the largest air supported domed stadium on the planet,,had so many good times at the dome,,its a shame it went to this,,my uncle was an iron worker, he placed many columns of steel in this fine arena, he is gone now, he would have hated to seen this, his last project before he passed,,
i went to... i believe the first rock concert held at the Silver Dome..The Who played and at the time held the record for the largest indoor crowd..it was amazing for a kid from Canada I got there thru Music Mann Tours.. the round trip there and back plus tickets was 25 dollars not bad even for 1975..the concert was great..well what i remembered and when the concert was over the air pressure inside the dome almost took us off our feet and blew us out the doors
that was the opening day for the pontiac silverdome too.
That Who show also held the record for the loudest concert ever. I saw The Who there in 1982 and also paid $25. But that was just for the ticket. Had to find my own transportation from just north of Grand Rapids.
so now im choked up because im losing an icon and the silverdome was. aww man :(
As a chi fan I have to admit the place was appealing, looked cooler on the outside than mpls’ metrodome which was built similarly
it's a shame it's now an amazon distribution site
Awesome video, so glad Wrestlemania III was highlighted!
nice work. thanks for posting.
The Lions did suffer their worst Season at One time. Even with Barry Sanders. Wasn't sure why they weren't Succeeding? The Lions played their Hearts Out. In the End. They still fell Short
Silverdome and the Superdome were both built in 1975.
set for demolition this Sunday 12/3/17.. :(
Now it's Amazon
😢
