But I'm sooo stuck between knowing wheather or not if I'm infp, or enfp..
I've taken the Myers Briggs with Carl Jung and it would appear I am infp, but I so have a lot of traits that enfp has..

Enfps also cherish partners that are playful with them and humour them when they (ENFP) know they're being silly.
Enfps I find also use those qualities to test a person to see if that person is good enough to win their hearts over.
Cause enfps are so selfless, they need to guard their hearts from getting burnt (or taken advantage of) because of their good nature... so even if Enfps have a huge friend circle, only a very people have won their hearts over... at all if any.
    (I'm ENFP, just sayin :p)

There are the concepts of compatibility and chemistry. Great compatibility means you got the same values, interests etc. Chemistry is how you fit together emotionally. Like, a relationship that got compatibility, but no chemistry, would be boring as hell. Kids, laundry, work, responsibilties. A relationship that only got chemistry but no compatibilty is one of those highly dramatic, romantic, impossible love stories, but usually without a happy end. Affairs, taboo unions (like teacher-student) and so. A recipe for major heart break. Or me with my tendency to inadvertantly attract cute guys in their early 20s (I'm 40!), who usually turn out to be drug dealers or lead another kind of high risk life (mind, my Descendant is in Aries, so that might not be such an ENFP thing.)
However, my last long term relationship started online, chatting for a whole year before we met. I'm also quite comfy with being Friends with Benefits. And it's true, I need to see someone as a friend first - otherwise, he's just not attractive to me in any way.

I had no idea, but once i discovered MBTI, i am SURROUNDED by so many naive or immature NF's and am especiially drawn to INFJ's but never had any idea, i am like, in love with my best friend so badly because he's a complete mirror image of me but, he's really immature and lacks wisdom and isn't willing to meet me in the middle, yet, but im gonna stick it out hahah, we fighting at the moment cause i called him out for being selfish and a bratty little sugar baby and he couldn't handle that shit, went instantly silent and dissolved into his mushroom and dissapeared off the face of the earth before coming back and went "umm sorry but i do not agree with absolutely anything you have said and i will never forget it either, if you want to talk again come fly up and see me *BLOCKED ME*" - infj's are the fucking death of me and i hate the little pricks so much but they complete my fucking soul and i need them so much hahahaha

My boyfriend kills all my enthusiasm for life. Because I'm friendly I'm accused daily of infidelity, he criticises everything I say, he feels uncomfortable about my spontaneous nature and has told me to grow up when I want to dance around the house, thinking about it being with him makes me sad :-( but being a ENFP makes it difficult to break up with people. For example it took me three to four years to break up with my ex husband. It's really difficult to make the decision to leave. I think in the future I'll really want to get to know someone for quite a while before choosing to enter a relationship with them and even then I think I won't want to be entangled up too much with their life's such as both our names being on the house etc or married to them unless I can really trust them.
These relationship tips are very useful.

    • @Sweeneytv
      @Sweeneytv  7 лет назад +96

You deserve someone who will let you dance, anywhere, anytime, for any reason. Period. That goes for all people. And, yes being really tangled up with someone can be hard, but knowing things are not right and trusting your gut is very important, if things can't be worked through. I always like to see people as they are, not as I'd like them to be, if I can.

I used to be in therapy because of depression (burn out, long story), and at first, my therapist thought there might be ADHS as well, because I was all over the place when talking, spinning a web, but I got always nervous about sharing my thoughts, constantly adapting to the reaction of my audience instead of simply stating what's on my mind. Of course this gets confusing.
Turns out that this was an effect of being both gifted and anxious to win people's approval. Given how talkative, creative and social ENFPs are, I wouldn't be surprised if that were a common issue. It takes strong self-esteem to share that weird part of you with "normal" people whose brains work in a more linear way and who might just get overwhelmed. In the end, I always win them over, the co-workers, customers etc, but it always starts with "geez, you talk too much".

Point number one is so important for me (I'm ENFP). I just realised this as I am newly single and am looking back on my relationship and seeing what qualities I would like in future. My ex was not charitable in a "people" way. I always daydreamed about us maybe volunteering with old people together or being Big Brother Big Sisters to kids who need mentors but it was never something he was interested in. In my next relationship I want to be with someone who, like me, loves doing things to make others' lives better. Someone who wants to make a meal for their friend who is going through a hard time, or will volunteer to help their mum put together some furniture. Caring for others is such an attractive quality to me.

Love the ENFP personality! I feel like they exude in a more enhanced way who I am inside (I'm an INFP). I love to connect with people, this is different than to just socialize. I want to know others' insights and thoughts on anything - this is how I come to learn of and bond with another being. I don't need sameness, I just need vulnerability and honesty and courage. But, so few people, especially sensors, are willing to be open with you. Meanwhile, I seem not open because I want to open my inside to you and connect, not just have chats where you won't be open or dismiss me for being different in my way of connecting. Talking about ideas and abstract things it what gets my energy going in a social setting. Otherwise, I seem like a bore i think... lol

"A partner of ENFP should be charitable."
Me, an INTJ : I'll see myself out.
Edit : Jokes aside, after some research and introspection, I actually am charitable only when it is necessary. I'd rather let someone learn to stand on their own and jump in when necessary than to guide them step by step for the sake of the process. Just feel like doing justice for other INTJs who feel wronged for being accused as a non-charitable person.

Thank you, Fay 💛✨ Fellow INTJ here 😊 People who don’t know us, have probably only read about us, or are not perceptive enough have a lot of NONSENSE to say about us 😉 Many forget that we are also human beings who feel just as deeply as everyone else, but they choose to think what they want to think and see what they want to see. Our job is to be charitable to those who matter. If we are not charitable, it means you don’t matter...or maybe you wrongly perceived us as uncharitable, because you refused to give us the benefit of the doubt. That’s all.

I'm an INFP, and I have an INTJ friend. He's amazing. I just needed more time to know him, but he's worth the effort. And charitable? I know INTJ would do anything for the people they love, right? As long as it's logical of course, hahaha

This is so accurate! I am very communication focused and it’s so important to me that the person I’m with is communicative with me. My last relationship was with an ISTJ and wow... he would become very closed off when I had unknowingly done something that upset or annoyed him. And instead of telling me so we could resolve it he would pretty much ignore me until he was over it. He would never discuss it afterwards which drove me mad because I like to resolve things so that I can make sure they don’t happen again. Another problem that I had in that particular relationship was that he mistook my friendliness and extroverted qualities as me flirting with other people, which is ridiculous because I’m a very loyal person and would never intentionally do that or try to make someone jealous. Contrary to how it sounds there were also a lot of good things about the relationship, and I did love him a lot, but I’ve definitely learned that I need to be with someone who understands me more!

As friends, it's a pre great balance 😊

Thanks for making this video! As a fellow ENFP, a lot you shared made me laugh. It's so funny when you said you wanted to go the military, be a firefighter and policeman at the same time. Ha! Priceless ENFP thinking :) Pointing out finding the charitability quality in another partner is HUGE for a relationship. I had never thought of it that way but it's an essential value we need in our lives and cannot do without. Not having this quality in a partner would be a huge disconnect in the relationship. Also, the other quality you mention, for an ENFP partner to be able to see things from a different perspective and engage/challenge our perspective/ideas in a positive way is like being given a drink of water to our ENFP soul. Lastly, having a partner who is practical helps remind us to stay in line when we begin floating away into our own analysis paralysis.

Hi! my daughter is a 10 year old enfp, and I'm an infj, and we feel like we're a dream team!! We're constantly looking for new ways to improve our already sweet life together, and this video is very helpful. I've been encouraging her more to PRACTICE making decisions, which she tends to find laborious. But if you don't get the experience as a child...harder as an adult! We've noticed that there is a little infj in her, and a little enfp in me, so we can sometimes see from each other's perspectives. I feel like I'm the luckiest parent on earth, to have an enthusiastic, insightful, kind, creative and absolutely delightful enfp for a kid!!!!!

I think you’re one of the first ENFP guys I’ve found talking on youtube. Yeah..
You’re like definitely an ENFP. (So am I, no worries ;)
Like for example, you jump from one thing to another and you’re also reading your audience a little even though you can’t see them. When you’re talking about ENFP habits, you cut yourself off because you’re worried it’s incorrect or looks bad to the audience. You’re much more open about self-doubt, and have much more flexibility and suddenly witching the conversation to address that.
I’m totally going to be a psyche major, but it was very fascinating to study you.

I'm constantly praying that he will find a girl who's a great listener, as compassionate as he is, and level headed enough to balance, but not kill, his mercurial nature. And that he will know and value himself enough not to settle for anything less.

It’s so funny the way you talk, because I can really find myself in it 😅 The train of thought and the way you express yourself! ENFPs for the win 💪
I agree with you on most points, but I would also add the fact that we are the most introverted extraverts... and that our partners need to understand that sometimes we just need time to ourselves. It might actually be really confusing for people who get to know this side; going from constant communication and excitement to closing ourselves up and distancing ourselves. I noticed that dating someone that is really needy and clingy just doesn’t work for me. I need the other person to be independent, be in the relationship but also be their own person ♥️

Somehow I can relate to this.. I'm INFJ-T 5w4. I joke a lot when I try to communicate and get to know people, even within the serious stuff. I think that could lead to misunderstandings, but i also think the right kind of people will see and understand that. I'm the kind of person who loves Anime and I have that kind of humour. I can't describe how hard I laugh at the trap-scenes in Angel Beats. Angel Beats are my favorite because the struggles were real, things were unfair, we got in deep touch with the characters and because it was about appreciation of life.
When it comes to ideas, dreams and goals.. This is how I see it: It doesn't matter how much time we have, but its about how we use our time to reach all the things we want in life. When I'm at my most introverted-state, then I'm more useful and proactive with my time to get things done. It includes personal development, strength training, jobs, projects ++ The list goes on. I wish to travel, but not alone... Feels like I'm waiting for someone who wants to travel with me around the world.
The one thing I don't get about my life is that... How is it possible that I've lived my life for 27 years and haven't met an single ENFP guy yet....(maybe ENFPs are rare in Norway.....I don't know, but they're hard to find .) It almost seems like I have to experience all the wrong and bad things.. and before I know it the right one would probably stand right in front of me. It would be so typical. x)

    Hello, dude.
I am an INTJ dating an ENFP since 2015 and there are so many things I would like to figure out... like... what should I do when he closes himself in a cold behaviour. I don't know if ENFP's need space like INTJ people does. Or if actually, he wants me to break the walls so he will fell important...
Another thing... Apparently, I don't show love as I should... I don't say I love you all the time because I fear it may lose the meaning... What I feel for him can't fit in a simple '' I love you''... but I have no words for that, so I keep it to special moments. I am not good at translating feelings like a Feeler does... how can a improve this, fellow ENFP?
    Greetings from Brazil.

    • @Sweeneytv
      @Sweeneytv  6 лет назад +20

So. I would say that for starters it seems you really care about him since you are putting so much thought into it. Hopefully he will notice the effort you put in. On the other hand, I would say ENFPs need space just as much as anyone. Sometimes when I get cold or mean it usually means I am tired or there is something else I'd rather be doing and something is stopping me from doing it. Giving space without prying too much will allow the ENFP to go straight for what he/she wants. There is no need to help them figure out what they want, (trust me) they know but they may not be able to voice what they want if they are not mature enough at introspective stuff. Secondly, about the saying "I love you" it really matters. I know you may feel it is not enough, but if it works for your ENFP just DO IT. I don't care if I hear "I love you" 100x in one day. I still take it with as much value as anything and it still really feels good. ENFPs are turbulent. and its nice to have something constant day after day, like a lovers feelings being voiced. So I"d say make an honest effort at it, and then also say what you said to me. Be honest with them and say that saying "I love you" for you, doesn't really capture what you want to say. That's beautiful tbh and shows you care alot which may not be something your ENFP can read unless you speak it. So I would say, speak up. An ENFP will talk it out, but not always take the initiative, if you are worried, speak up. It wil always be better than guessing, but remember to not press to hard. If you try and they seem distant. Give some space for maybe a day or two.

Always when I told a story, about something that I was very passionate or enthusiastic about, at the end of the story, she would say: "Ok babe, well that's nice." and would hop over to her own story. No questions whatsoever. I felt like I just did my little school presentation and that was that. I really missed being appreciated and sharing stories where we both would dive into a deeper level of connection, showing sincere interest in one another. Although I tend to talk a lot, which I am aware of, at least ask some questions in which you show interest on what your partner is telling. Apart from that, I'm an easy guy I think.

My partner is more practical and organized than I, and I try harder to be these things for him so we can be more balanced and bc I know it's good for my mental health too honestly, for things to be less of a mess. :') My partner is patient! But I also had to learn to be patient bc he is much less patient right before bedtime when he is as sleepy as a baby, and I sometimes have this massive anxious urge to talk and say all the things I couldn't say earlier in the day... We're a work in progress, always, but I like it! Most importantly, we're both givers. He is a nurse and researcher, very interested in public health from the personal to the wide scope of things, and I work as a teacher or in social work or anything cool that funds marginalized groups of ppl. Fundamentally, we both like and care about ppl and the world... though we tend to find magic in different places. This is an interesting relationship I find myself in, but it's healthy and I'm totally in love with him and I don't want it to stop. :) ...Even though sometimes I wish he were much chattier and liked dancing with ppl and cuddling with ppl as much as I xD

Interestingly enough, since I have this innate curse of attracting only narcissistic men and many friends that are narcissistic as well, I have been able to evolve to the point where I do the omniscient point of view thinking from the get go in most every situation to make sure I’m taking everyone’s perspective and side into consideration…this isn’t because I’m so amazing or so enlightened or anything like that-it’s just simply from a lack of being able to find that companionship with a partner or friend at this point where I can bounce things off of them that I go through and debate on throughout the day. It seems like no one ever listens to me at all, and that is such a sad thing to go through, especially when you take on and listen 110% to everyone you care about all day long and the favor is never returned. It’s purely an evolution of selfishness based on needs I have that are rarely, if ever, met.
This has made me exceedingly patient though. I will say that. When I lose my cool now it’s like-something epic that is going on or a situation I’ve tolerated for weeks or months too long and I finally lose my cool and demand that respect happen immediately…
It is hard being an ENFP. People just don’t get how someone can be so full of life and the life of the party and the idea generator machines we are then fall into self introspection, reset, over stimulation mode like we need for our self care and mental health. I’ve lost a lot of people along the way simply because they take that shit personal when it isn’t at all, it’s something I have to have or I unwind and start to fray until I break down completely with too much of the E portion and not enough of the N portion.
It’s hard to finely tune the balance of it all…

Enfp here. All we need is someone who can listen, who's intuitive, good morals honesty etc and will clean up behind us and remember bdays so we don't let down our friends and family.

checking it out in the year 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic #GCQ as an ENFP and learning more of it now... this is totally true and thankful I'm not the only one who wish this type of partner exists... that will be a blessing, especially right now. 💖 plus other inputs here also in the comment section. 💜 tnx for this vid. 😌

If you want to experience the worst relationship, get with an istp. Had 2 of those. Never again.

This was great, Thanks! :) I also find my older [sister, in my case] is able to give me the introspection that I need to balance my ideas and fears out. Great video ✌

Have always enjoyed rabbit trails in a discussion. Have always thought dreamy ideas have value.

due to the importance of communication, i always tell my parents about my worries and troubles so they'd help me figure something out. but due to my situations being mostly negative (although i was the one being wronged), my parents almost always shut me out. they'd tell me to just stop making enemies, stop being too close to people, stop this, stop that. it's been such a struggle for me to actually bond with my parents. now that it's covid 19 and i've been stuck at home for 6 months, my parents and have been much closer. they try to understand me much better with better approach cz I've been their most troubled child my whole life. and they were struggling to understand me when the communication was really low. i tend to only share my troubles and struggles to my friends and cousins instead cz my family would always brush me out.

I’m an INFP and I personally love ENFP’s. They push me past my comfort zone and we always have the best discussions. Idk how I’d do dating one though because I get exhausted easily emotionally and need alone time and silence to recoup, specifically on new situations.

LOL! You won my like and sub with your comment about not being able to buy pants. I feel you bud. Totally been there over socks. I would rather go home and sleep the whole day away than make a decision.

I am a very joyful person. If I'm in a relationship, I will want to take them to do fun things that we will both enjoy. I also get excited for our firsts or things we accomplished in life. I can be like "omg this is so exciting!" And my ex would get annoyed that I have high expectations for certain things. He thinks that being too excited for something will lead to disappointment. Then I just kinda get bummed and feel like a burden, so I stopped trying to show my excitement. I don't think that being excited for certain things is me having high expectations..it just means that I'm excited to experience the unknown. Even if it's bad, at least I experienced it, but some people think otherwise lol

SPOT ON. Literally laughing because what you are saying is so true. Having so many ideas, going to Africa haha. One of major reasons I ended my last relationship was because I needed a partner with a stronger love of other people. He was a great guy but I was turned off with his negative view about people... which is cool, but I need someone who matches my love of life. My best friend was also that practical mindset surface value type of person, she translated what was on my mind into more simpler terms
