  • Does music have the power to emotionally transport you? It certainly does for actress Joanna Lumley and composer Stephen Barlow. Married for nearly 40 years, they share a huge passion for classical music in particular.
In this chat with Fearne, Joanna and Steven explain how music and performing are threads that have always woven their lives together, as well as wondering that sometimes external noise and chatter has to be quietened in order for us to be creative.

I listened to all the podcasts and they are so entertaining and informative. For someone who has only lightly dabbled in classical music it has opened my eyes. Joanna asks all the right questions and stephen is so relatable and funny. Well worth a listen.

I love that they seemed destined to find each other. What a magic couple - complimenting each other on so many levels.
I also love Joanna’s shadow metaphor illuminating the non linear nature of time 😘

Such a fascinating couple and so amazing . On another note my husband and I have known each other over 30 years, we liked each other from the first day. I was married and pregnant with my second child, he always made me laugh and was so kind to my children they loved him (Their father wasn't a nice man) Then some years later he dissapered I was heartbroken. over 20 years later we were both divorced and happened to catch up, I had moved to scotland had no clue where he had gone, strangely he was in.....Scotland we have been together 4 years. Married one it's fate, it was fated from the moment we met.

At around the 41:00 minute mark, I totally agree on the 'mental heart attack.'
I've reached this point many a time in the last few years and personally describe it as emotional epilepsy.
