She is so eloquent and courteous. I am Dutch but I happened to live among British for about 5 years. They came from Cambridge and Oxford and spoke like Mrs. Lumley. Being exposed for 5 years to high class English speaking makes it impossible to speak with an American accent. I reeally like to listen to Mrs. Lumley no matter what she says, her voice is hypnotizing.
What a wonderful interview with this great woman, a formidable and wonderful human being. So glad to have seen it. I like the interviewer too. She is polite.
Well I am old now but it was common to stand up when a teacher or for that matter when anyone entered the room .It is a sign of respect for the other person and one must say "won't you sit down? and when they are seated and comfortable, proffer them a glass of sherry no matter what time of day it is .Also hand write thankyou notes. Consider others before your self . A good officer will water the horses, feed the men and only when that is satisfactory should he attend to his own needs
Manners are sadly missing in today’s society I believe it comes from the home. We were taught to stand up in a tram or train for the elderly and pregnant women. Maybe teaching manners in schools, would be a good thing ✅
Absolutely. I'm completely fed up with it. As a Brit we are taught manners right from babyhood. Over here children are allowed to scream and demand, but it's NOTHING compared to some adults😒
Thank you Joanna Lumley. Your wise comment about looking after this beautiful world we live in NOW instead of racing off in search of other planets (to pollute and destroy.........) certainly hit a nerve. For the future generations let us please look after this amazing planet, for their sake.
Ms. Lumley is a delight and her comments are insightful. We need to hold onto these values because I don't know where this new generation is going. Or maybe it's just my age talking (50's). I don't know what society will value in 100 years. But, I really see that this mode of politeness and respect is dwindling.
