My question is why beauty if so frequently mentioned in female role models?
I'd never once consider the appearance of WEB DuBois or Henry Flagler in considering them role models- it'd be an asinine thing to do.
Ian Mitchell While it is true that people usually use the word 'beautiful' to describe females, I assume that (and correct me if I am wrong, Elizabeth Elizondo)Elizabeth Elizondo uses the word not to only describe Emily's physical appearance. Real beauty extends beyond what you look like; it is shown in your character. I believe that Emily is a beautiful person because she does wonderful things, has a strong passion for what she does, and has such a sweet and charming personality.

I'm 22 and I never realized that museums were places of research. I just always thought of them in more of the 'warehouse' style where whatever they get they just put on display for people to come look at. Thanks Brain Scoop for enlightening me about all the hard work and research that goes on behind the scenes!

The show has not only retained it's charm, but it is even better. Keep up all the hard work! What you guys are doing is the future is education and I fully support it.
Anyone think that Emily seems a lot more happy and excited now that she's working at the Field Museum? I mean, yeah, there was a lot of sentimental value tied to the university museum, but here she's surrounded by so much more and it really shows that she's in her element.
I plan on going to grad school for scientific illustration, or prosthetics design. Taxidermy does sound very appealing after watching this, especially since I already make sculptures with animal remains.
The plants of the world exhibit looks intense! Definitely on my too do list. I need to find out what the orchid you showed is. I saw some live specimens at ABG last week, and they're huge!

Your channel has been one of my favorites since I stumbled upon the skinning of the wolf. Every Time I see a new video from you guys I get all sorts of excited. It's fun to learn new stuff about animals, even being a little older
. And even more so fun to learn about the anatomy and habits of animals.
Also, totally agree with the notion that we're all scientists. Human society consists of information being relayed between individuals, and the way I see it, we can be creative by deviating each piece of information further from reality, or more scientific by preserving it's accuracy. We can all learn by both understanding what is closer to the truth, or by hypothesising that which we do not yet comprehend. It's important to recognise that even if people are wrong, they help others learn why.

She's so graceful
Recently, I visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science's new paleontology wing and was blown away at how many different kinds of trilobites there were. I had no idea scientists have found thousands of the little suckers at all stages of their life cycles. The HMNS's paleontology wing is amazing. I think it took me 4 hours to get through all of it. If you're ever around the Houston area, it's definitely worth a look. I think it might be the most up to date too.
Emily is perfect. She's clever, smart, and cute. Most importantly, she has an excitement for learning about, sharing, and preserving the natural sciences that makes the subject matter all the more interesting. Thanks Emily!! :D
My geology prof in college was out collecting things and found a beautiful little trilobite just sitting on a little outcrop. Then she lost her footing. She had the choice of either falling 10 feet, or dropping the fossil to grab for a handhold. She took the fall (and broke her wrist), but the trilobite was awesome!
As someone from Chicago, I love seeing you at the Field Museum! That arthropod scared the crap out of me when I was a little kid!

no, all i commented on in this particular episode was her legs, the beauty of which stood out for not being seen previously amidst all the amazing things this amazing woman talks about is every other episode. just because when given a limited amount of character space to type in a response people choose to make shortened remarks regarding something they've observed it doesn't necessarily mean that is the only thing that they took note of.

ive been to the field museum many many times, but i never knew how impressive it was until these videos. i never knew they had hidden collections or a rich history.

Donations. They have donation boxes usually at the entrance and exits, and you can donate online. Also people sometimes fund them, giving large amounts of money, and some are council or lottery funded.

I have a membership to the Field Museum and take the kids there as often as possible. They think it's for them but really it's because I find the whole place so fascinating. Every time I go I find something new, like the New Zealand meeting house we discovered last week. I'm very excited about the China exhibit! Now I have the added excitement of possibly meeting you, Emily. I hope that happens, so that I can tell you in person how much I appreciate your quest for Awesome :)

and as for people questioning the $15, its actually kinda a great deal considering how big the field museum is and how much there is to see. I remember going when I was in high school (and getting a student discount) and spending an entire day walking around and still not seeing it all

I understand that the Field museum is the main contributor to the Brian Scoop now, but I would still love to see episodes like "Horns vs. Antlers" and "De-Extinction" part one and two. Not that learning about the museum is not interesting, but I would love to see some of the raw, factual intelligence and curiosity like in those early episodes.

Hank Green was actually the one that "found" Emily and talked her into starting the show. He still takes part in producing it, and Michael Aranda works with both Emily and Hank, as far as I know. And no, they're not related :) but kinda look like siblings, right?
You're the best, Emily! Could you do some work on the artifacts conservation department at the museum? I think that's a part of the museum system that a lot of people don't get to see.
