On a Jessi video watching spree, and just noticed the thing at 10:48 where she's lifting her finger (and thumb) to indicate size, and Zoe seems to wonder if she's making the sign for "wave". ("Is that... am I meant to...? Okay... *lifts foot hesitantly* Hey, I did it. Where's my treat?")

My cousin has an Amazon parrot. Like Jessi said, they're difficult to tell apart, but we think he's a yellow-naped Amazon, or Amazona auropalliata.
He speaks very well, and has a relatively large vocabulary. One time he bit my finger and the cheeky bugger LAUGHED at me.

The area between the eye and bill on the side of a bird's head is called the lore. Thus red lored. Jessi said the distinctions are based on small differences in coloring on their faces, so it makes sense they would be named based on those distinctions.

Today I went to a Marine Mammal hospital where they house different elephants seals, sea lions, and other marine life that could use some help (for instance, a lot of the elephant seals were 5 months old and were suffering from starvation). Anyway, I learned that the scooting sort of motion that seals do on their stomachs is called "galluphing" which I thought was a really cool and cute word for their scooty-belly motion.

Google it. The studies came out of England a couple of years back & have absolutely nothing to do with hearing or smelling. Hidden cameras were placed on the dogs and the owners were sent out (miles-plural-away from home). At times unknown to the owners, they were called back to return home. The dogs would immediately get excited as soon as the owners started back, getting increasingly excited as they got closer, bouncing at the door. My own dog consistently jumps up 20 mins before I arrive home
