My dad used to take his steers and calves here on Mondays. In fact, my dad’s boss, Jim Mair, is in one of the photos you feature, along with the auctioneers I also remember. The deals that went on here! I remember one day when my dad forgot to log the cattle’s ear numbers so he asked one of the lorry drivers to lean over a gate and read them. However as his face was near the top of the steer’s head it reared up and their heads clashed and it knocked the lorry driver out. It cut the man’s head open over his eyes and the boss made my dad drive the lorry home because the lorry driver was still concussed. I found it hilarious - but my dad kept saying to me, ‘stop laughing Dave!’ But to a 8 year old it was funny!!!

That brings back the memories. The Bull, the market and the Bull ground and Borden Grammar, my old school - all just a short walk from home in Park Road. Great piece.

I was there. I lived in the Lion Yard. The cattle market was a joy to me too. Bet we rubbed shoulders at some point.

We lived in Station Street in the late 40s and early 50s. I remember the sheep and cattle being driven down the street to be put on trains. Thanks again for the memories.

Certainly brings back the memories especially with the sound effects. We would go and see it in school breaks. Thanks, yours Philip Drury

I remember the cattle market as a boy back in the 50's. I'm now 71 and such a lot of Sittingbourne has gone. I lived in Watling Place and East Street is pretty much unrecognisable now with the exception of the Methodist Church and the Chestnuts Surgery. Progress eh.
