  • The same day we saw the first baby Impala close to Satara Rest Camp, Kruger National Park, we went out in the middle of the day searching for a single pregnant Impala as we know that they separate themselves from the herd to give birth. Around midday there is a lower risk of a predator laying in wait to attack. The mother was quick to encourage her new calf onto its legs. She cleansed the calf by licking it and then ate the remains of the afterbirth in order to remove the scent which might attract predators.
