Gotta say, I'll miss the videos. They totally got me into Snap, but I haven't hit the point yet where I'd need to pay money. But also, thank you for the shout out! It was really unexpected, but appreciated.
Please keep making who is somevody videos, they are such a great way to get people into characters who aren't that popular. Keep doing Marvel characters, and maybe even branching out to DC, manga, and idie comics.
Yeah I love them and I’ve barely touched snap. The recent ones inspired me to add Dark Avengers to my TBR. I’d watch more even if they’re more “algorithmically relevant”
2:15 To be fair, the "Magento" thing was a Bynx bit. Every time a chatter corrected him he'd be like "That's what I said" to intentionally frustrate them
I really have loved this series and I’ve never once played or even downloaded marvel snap. I enjoy the “who is this random character” of it all. I think doing this same setup with comic characters who are in the zeitgeist for ANY reason, not just from marvel snap, might be a more profitable way to do this. Right now, a video like this about who Circe is or who Mr Terrific is, or anyone else being talked about for whatever reason I think would do well because that tackles what’s being talked about in comic book media as a whole, not just in the marvel snap subsection of the comic book community. Either way, love your work, I watch every video. Really excited for whatever you do next man!! 🧡
I got into it from the symbiote episodes, I finally got Spider-Man 2 after I watched the underwhelming venom 3 and wanted to get summaries on some symbiotes who weren't just venom and carnage (mainly lasher). I got disappointed to learn the series is only marvel snap characters because I have no interest in tcgs and probably wouldn't be interested in a lot of the characters. Doing ones based around other games, movies, or TV show releases would be pretty interesting though
no clue why you havent milked the launch of Rivals. You could easily make videos based on their costumes or better yet, What I would like to see is you covering the story lore in Marvel Rivals. There are tons of text in the game telling tons of different little stories that most people will never read. So I think if you covered those stories and the comic issues in game, it would be cool and engaging and I would definitely watch
Generally that's not the reason though. It's usually just a way to keep separate the "definitely gained using cash" currency from the "maybe given for free" currency, even when they have similar outcomes. Some currencies are more F2P than others, in most of these games.
@ I can't speak for every company, but it is the main reason in most cases. It makes the most sense. Now maybe some do use it to intentionally complicate things, but mostly it's just the most efficient way to handle things.
I'll add to this that it allows them to have a 'cheap' currency they can give away to players, while still withholding the 'Cash-Currency.' Example: in Dead By Daylight, there are 3 currencies; - Bloodpoints, 'XP Currency.' This is obtained in matches and used to level up characters, and is the easiest currency to obtain. - Iridescent Shards: 'time/effort currency.' This one is tougher to obtain as it can only be done through using enough Bloodpoints, or leveling your *online profile* up enough through time spent/ games played. It takes many hours to get a worthwhile amount, but they give you access to perks, characters, and cosmetics that are available in the store. They are *extremely* reluctant to give this away as it can act as a replacement for cash in their store. - Auric Cells, the 'Cash Currency.' These are their cash equivalent - 5 bucks gets 500 cells, and with that you can buy any character or any cosmetic. Some characters and cosmetics are *only* able to be purchased through Auric Cells. By diversifying the cash types used, they can hand out some rewards more easily (Bloodpoints here) and withhold others for special events (Iri Shards) and withhold yet another altogether.
@@timogul i suggest doing some research into the way that mobile games are designed around psychology, your take that multiple currencies are the most efficient structure is naive nonsense
Marvel should have been paying Nando this whole time. One thing that blows my mind is Marvel will create a game like this but not find a way to use it directly support the comics (and then complain why are comic sales down) Nando used the game to get people into Marvel comics, he should be paid for that.
Fr like not even something simple as “free credits/non-game-interfering rewards for Marvel Rivals and Snap” in any/all comics to insensitive some players to buy more comics, vice versa? Digital copy of a characters first appearance anytime you get a character/card in-game if you connect your Marvel account, it’s that easy
He already proved he was willing to do it for no compensation and no recognition. Businesses will never see you doing that and then decide to spend money on you when you've shown they don't have to.
Good for you Nando. Love your videos and really sad that you wont be making them anymore. But, I appreciate you having principles and saying no to the predatory practices of Second Dinner. Like you, I am a huge fan of Marvel comics, and really enjoy the game. But I can't ignore that the fomo and expense and predatory nature of the game is just so gross.
Oh, the Marvel Rivals currency confused me at first too but when it was exlained to me it made more sense: - Blue Currency is used to by cosmetics (mostly skins) which you can earn by completing in-game achievements, certain seasonal missions, and going through the battle pass. - Purple Currency is just Battle Pass EXP, the only difference being you can decide which items in the battle pass you want to get first instead of earning them linearly, and you of course earn it by completing daily and seasonal missions. - Gold Currency is real world money (and a one-to-one conversion at that) that you can use to get the Battle Pass (which, if you purchase, you get to keep forever which is really cool) but can also use to convert to either of the other two currencies if you want to speed things up (most likely the Blue Currency because you can get Purple Currency really fast but both are options). Overall, still a somewhat heavily monetised game, but definitely more consumer friendly than a lot of its competetors.
I genuinely think it's one of, if not the most, generous battle pass. It's affordable, it's extensive and it's permanent, that's the big thing. I'm not an apologist for battle passes, but this is the only one I would actually suggest to people.
The purple currency is actually super limited, after a couple days and finishing up all the event missions, you can only earn a few hundred per day and the battle pass pages cost 1600 each
These were my favorite videos to pull up while driving or eating. I genuinely loved them and watched all of them. Thanks for making them and I will be missing then lots.
I understand your reasoning. I'm going to miss them because they are consistently good quality. Especially in light of the fact a few regular Snap creators have started diving into character history stuff. They're fine but yours are better because I really liked the reading recommendations
Honestly, from your description, it sounds like this game's monetization strategy is failing so they are now experimenting in order to drive more revenue. Always leads to short term focus rather than long term gain, and it almost always leads to total failure. FWIW, I don't read comics much anymore and I played Snap maybe 3 or 4 times, but I really enjoyed these videos. Learned a lot about comics and it did inspire me to pick up some collected comics editions and do some reading. So thanks for making these.
I agree that that's what it sounds like. And there's some truth to that. But the description is somewhat flawed (not that this negates the original point at all). Also, they're apparently doing a massive rework to the economy because this has indeed been problematic, so I don't think they're doing things for the short term. But we'll see once it gets implemented, I guess
As someone who discovered your channel through the Snap videos and looks forward to them every week, this is very sad to see, but I totally get your reasoning. It sucks to have to say ".. eh .. probably not" whenever people ask you if they should pick up Snap. I'll miss the videos, but it's definitely for the best
I got Modok 2 years ago with the battle pass things because I had been really excited about the ant man movie with him and it's absurd that a card that's that old hasn't gone down to series 3 yet. That's ludicrous and that card is like so incredibly important to so many decks that you start building with the series 1 and 2 cards
Sounds like marvel snap is like destiny 2, completely abandoned any attempts at attracting new players, and hard focused on milking their existing player base, knowing that they were all too invested to quit
Abt the snap special offers, in Brazil those are priced about 1/3 of the minimum wage (500BR) So, if you're a kid/teen or on your first job, you're spending what would look like a used 3DS or half a used PS4
To add to this, I don't know how much is based on my playtime, but I don't have many key cards (Knull, X23, MODOK, Arishem, etc etc) but have some good general decks (Fenris Wolf, High Evo)
I play for an hour every night before falling asleep. I've not paid for any of it, so the single month I reached Infinite was SO satisfying. My secrets with this kind of game are 1) to set my own goals (i.e. Win 5 games in a row, reach level 75 with only Series 3 and below cards, etc.) and 2) imagining that the other players are bots, instead of hyper-competitive humans, thus making me not really care all that much about beating them. Over a year at this point, and I'm still having tons of fun with it. Edit: Oh, and auto-muting the opponent at the start of every game is mandatory for sanity-retention.
Thanks for your Snap content, it's been fun and I've learned about a few of the more obscure characters I wasn't aware of, but I appreciate your reasons for moving on. I'm myself kind of in the "sunk cost" phase with the game, where I'm not getting as much joy from it for various reasons, but I have a bunch of accrued resources so I'm sticking it out until I've burned those at least in the hopes they'll change things. You're definitely not alone though in spotting that it's incredibly difficult to recommend the game to new players due to the card acquisition issues - a bunch of dedicated Snap content creators have commented on this and several have dropped the game as a result. What's wild to me is that you can't even solve the issue by throwing money at the game - I mean you can definitely speed things up, but there's so much gacha between when cards rotate into spotlights, when they are shown in your personal store, etc that even spending thousands of dollars a month, it would still take many months to have even just most of the cards. They have promised changes are coming and things will get better, but they've known this issue was coming for two years and it _feels_ like they've only really started to act now that the backlash from the community has reached a certain threshold, and if that hadn't happened we'd probably still be seeing minimal changes. All of this makes me doubt how serious they are about solving the issues, but we will see.
My marvel snap addiction was really bad. I was finally able to kick the addiction back in November. I've been clean for almost 3 months, and I feel much freer. If you're thinking about quitting marvel snap, I highly recommend it
18:07 I believe overwatch removed characters from their battle passes, otherwise I agree completely (mauga in the battle pass was absolutely criminal though).
these games have a million seperate currencies to obfuscate and make it hard for the user to track and tell how much they are getting for the money they are spending
I’ll miss these videos but totally understand where you are coming from. The realities of content creation does discourage this type of video. And you are also completely right about both the economic structure of many mobile games, and the specific issues of Snap. You actually described my experience pretty well. Played it on launch and dropped it after a month or so. As a fan of yours and comics, watched your videos and really enjoyed them to the point I was interested in playing snap again. Getting back into it as basically a new player was pretty horrendous. I wasn’t having any fun and also was completely unable to access the new exciting cards. I dropped it again after two weeks!
I don't play Marvel Snap but I watch your Snap character explainers every time I see one, I'll miss them once they're gone. Still, definitely support you following your conscience about predatory mobile games. It's a good choice. I hope you make some more videos in the same vein, but do what you need to. Nice shout out to the other creators though, I love Casually Comics. I'd never get to the comic book store in time to catch a new release without her.
I actually stopped playing a couple weeks before this banning debacle, because I kept seeing those 'for you' offers for a single card for like $29/99 and feeling so insulted.
The bundles are priced based on the cost of the currency you get. You don't have to buy them, every card in them can be obtained for free eventually. It's literally the exact same model every other ftp mobile game uses, and is actually significantly more generous than most other ftp mobile games.
predatory is the correct word to use, the in-app purchases are a slap in the face and take advantage of new players. considering they don’t seem to care at all about actually improving things it’s probably time i take a step back in playing
All the reasons you give make sense to me, but the moral choice is one that too few are prepared to make. I'm also a huge fan of Casually Comics, so it's good to hear that shoutout. I'll check out the others as well!
I loved the lore and watched most of them but understand your reasoning. Disconnecting from Snap at the minimum seems wise, a lot of people seem to have turned on it because of the usual mobile game BS. It's pretty wild that is so bad many streamers and youtubers are being turned off by it. I started early and had a great collection but quit forever when I started to feel I could never keep up without dropping serious wedge.
I stopped playing completely at november because of the FOMO adnt the time and it was giving me, but I was still watching these videos and would read a series every 3 months or so that looked good so it's a little sad to see it go. Luckily though, Marvel Rivals did in 1 month what Marvel Snap never did on its own and got me to start reading fantastic four and more involved comics like that and I can't thank that games character portrayal enough for that, and it makes me question a lot of decisions about snap. Sad to see this go, but I'll check out the recs and keep on reading.
This sort of predatory behavior exists in every collectable card game. Hearthstone, Marvel Snap (both created by the same guy, incidentally), MTG; unfortunately, you either accept that the owners of the game you love are trying desperately to rob you, or you stop playing. That's the sad reality of living in a society that values capital over everything else.
100% agree. Took a break from Snap for a couple months due to general life events and now I’m behind on the meta because I missed a bunch of releases. Now I have zero motivation to play catch up.
This is a good move. I don't plan to play the game and don't care about random characters. There's just no hook. Give me the nando tv and movie content I crave!
Its sad to see this series end but I get it and I'm glad you addressed the monetization problem that's plaguing this game. This is really one of the best card games I've ever played and I continue to have fun with it but they are absolutely going to kill the game if they don't change something soon. The devs have repeatedly said that they are working on changes behind the scenes which are "coming soon" but we haven't gotten much more info than that. So far all they've done recently is increase the rate newer players earn series 3 cards and increase the amount of tokens earned from spotlight dupes to 2000 so I guess that's a start but I really hope we get some more drastic changes to card acquisition soon.
Maybe a good compromise would be to make these “who is” videos over non-snap characters? It lets you choose which characters to focus on, as well as take as much time as you need between videos to make it feel “worth it” to make it
Marvel Snap was so promising but so dissapointing. I loved the game since launch but the way Second Dinner just lied to the community time and time again really made me give up on the game. Having a great time playing Pokémon Pocket
I can’t blame you for stopping these videos. But I will miss them. I read through exiles and the Hickman new avengers because of them and I don’t regret it.
Yeah I totally understand the reasons for stopping, but selfishly I would love some compromise like this lol. I've really enjoyed these vids-but I get it if not. 🙏
Blizzard was so stupid to lock characters in the battle pass because even though they stopped doing it, people still think you have to pay for new heroes
How am I only finding you NOW? I'm a huge comics nerd and I've played Snap since global launch. You have a new subscriber. I will definitely be looking through your past videos on the characters that I'm not as familiar with but know from the game. Sorry to hear that you won't be making them or making them as often. Especially after this week with the U.S. outage, Second Dinner really needs to step up the promised changes they said are coming to the monetization system and collection mechanics. They really need to make major changes to grow the player base.
End of an era. This was one of my favorite regular series on RUclips lately. I agree with everything you said about the game (especially those bizarre "For You" bundles.) and understand why you're stopping. Excited for more Nando regardless!
Yupppp! Glad you're bailing on Snap, i left right before the Deadpool's diner event. I found you through Marvel Snap, but while I've quit playing, I'm still subbed and watching your content. The whole bytedance situation really makes me happy I've stopped playing.
It's a shame to see these videos go as they were something I looked forward to every week despite for most of the year not playing Marvel Snap. I'm trying to get back in to it now purely F2P and I'm having fun but Holy Crap does the economy suck. Looking forward to see what you do with your freed up time. I'm sure it'll be equally as awesome.
I am sad to hear this. I’ve been enjoying this series over the past year. I still remember actually going into Marvel unlimited and checking out the books you recommended for Mockingbird and Pixie. Still, it’s your channel, and Nando needs to do what’s best for Nando. I would be happy to watch videos in this style to tie in with whatever big Marvel thing is coming out at the time like you proposed with Joaquin Torres. I don’t really know anything about him outside of his origin. Vampire Redwing blood transfusion…and Cap wolf was there lol😅
great video. i love this game and also have every card, but i am also tired of how expensive it is and ashamed of the amount of money i’ve spent on it. it sucks because its genuinely a great game, but i would not recommend it to my worst enemy because of how much of a time and money hole it is with no improvement in sight. decided to use the ban as an excuse to stop playing
Matttt is easily the most entertaining comic channel I've ever watched. He makes short documentaries about things I would have never thought about checking into but it's always super interesting. He is able to fit so much info into a 20 min vid with incredible pacing. You learn so much it feels like you watched an hour long video.
I gave up on Snap like a year ago due to how predatory it was becoming. Not surprised at all that it's gotten worse, but it's a shame it's a big reason you're stopping these videos but I respect it. I'll watch whatever you put out anyway! Also lol @ the Bynx/Magento callout.
I'm a long-time player that uninstalled the game about a month ago because, in addition to the predatory monetization, I'm just too damn susceptible to letting live-service games take over my attention and I don't want to try and keep figuring out if I'm actually enjoying a game or playing it due to FOMO or the sunk cost fallacy.
This makes me sad. The "who is [blank]" were some of my favorite videos. My Tuesdays (and occasionally Wednesdays) won't be complete without them. But I understand your reasoning for it.
I stopped playing the game half a year ago now. The card acquisition and especially the monetary changes really put me off the game, It really started du feel like a huge chore to play it, trying to get the newest cards, finishing the battlepass. But I still kept watching your videos as I was just very interested in learning about the more obsure characters. It´s pretty awesome that you´ve put so much thought into this step, you not wanting to be an entry to the game deserves a lot of respect. It´s super cool that you are shouting out several other channels, I´m following Merry Marvelite for a while now. I´ll definitely check out the other channels as well.
While I did enjoy some of the videos, I'll admit I didn't bother with several because I either felt I knew the character well enough or wasn't interested in them. My personal distaste/hesitance to play Snap also played a factor, especially as more time passed and the issues highlighted in this video became more apparent. I'm neither happy nor sad to see these videos end, though I hope it means either videos you enjoy more or I do.
Respect the stance. Hope there's a way to make origins videos more efficient/economical because I did really enjoy them and always hoped you'd revisit older cards
🫡 farewell and thanks for all the vids. I totally get loving Snap and not wanting to support scumbaggery. Would still love to see like a top 5 most obscure Snap cards to circle back on some old ones. Looking forward to your other stuff!
Oh wow. Surprising to hear.. Based on the videos that you released I thought that you were paid by Marvel to do those videos for every new character introduction 😅
Are you seriously saying those weren't sponsored videos? Because I was 100% sure you were getting paid to make them. Honestly it is too bad that you weren't getting sponsorship for them.
dang you will be missed. subscribed since marvel boy & haven’t missed a video since. always knew this channel was a hidden gem. good luck on your other endeavors!
Second Dinner has said they are seeking a new publisher. While I wouldn't blame all the shoddy monetization on NuVerse, if things did change for the better, would you reverse course?
I agree with all of this, was really invested I wanted to win all the time and collect the latest cards. Then found myself stopped caring so much, felt FOMO and found myself loosing money and spending too much. Right now I still play but had to come to terms that it is really unfair and to play the game casually from on.
I really appreciate this video because it helped me understand the community’s frustration with the current state of the monetization of Snap. I’m in the same boat as you, I’ve been playing the game almost every day since it released because it seems like the rare mobile game that actually works, is fun, and when it started was really easy to get into. I’ve seen a lot of backlash against the game in the last handful of months and I didn’t understand why. Now I do. Maybe the recent ban and the statement that Snap will be seeking a new publisher could change things but we’ll see.
Man... I'm really going to miss these videos, but I totally understand and appreciate everything you're saying here. You were indeed my "gateway" to SNAP, and I have definitely experienced the predatory pricing and spent more money on it than I ever expected to. But, for whatever it's worth, the joy I personally have gotten from being introduced to the game and watching these videos has far outweighed that. That said, I also get that not all your fans will be in the same position. Much respect for approaching this decision with the level of thoughtfulness I've come to expect from you, and of course for doing what makes the most sense for you with your time and creativity.
I think your take on Snap being predatory is spot on. I love your comic book related content. Even if you just pick topical characters you could do essentially the same videos without the Snap take and I'd actually be More interested in those.
I’m sorry to know this videos didn’t get the attention they deserved. I wish I had viewed more of them to show support. At the beginning I would but with time I started to select some to watch.
I built a pretty competitive deck based on just free-to-get cards, but I noticed a SHARP decline in wins over the last season. Doom+Doom 2099 is so ridiculous OP that unless I build a deck specifically around defeating it (thereby destroying my ability to beat any other deck) I have basically no answer for it.
Reminds me of Marvel Avengers Alliance. The old Facebook game I use to be addicted to. If it came out now they would have had some pay system to unlock characters
Never played Marvel Snap, but I loved your Marvel Snap videos for the character info and recs! But your reasons for being done with those make a lot of sense. Glad you got to leave on a high note with Moonstone. Thanks for the recs for the other channels!
As someone who never played and never intended to play Marvel Snap I really enjoyed the Snap videos a ton and watched most of them (exception being the characters I was really not interested in). If you were to make some videos about more obscure-but-not-super-obscure characters by Marvel and opening it up to DC (and Image or whatever else if you felt like it) in synergy with comic and movie releases (to ensure viewership) I'm sure many of us would jump at them. I will check out the creators you mentioned! Cool of you to shout out other people doing these kind of lore deep-dives!
Bummed to hear that you won't be making the Marvel Snap vids anymore!! I seriously enjoyed watching them so much- you're one of the only channels i turned notifications on for because I love seeing those vids pop up. You do a great job at explaining all facets of a character, from their concept, how they fit into stories and how they act as a person and interact with other characters. You're really good at making the characters feel fully dimensional and understandable rather than just reading off a wiki article or whatever. Sad to see the videos go but I totally understand your reasonings. It's awesome of you to share other comic video creators as well! I've been a longtime fan of Casually Comics and I'm excited to check out the others! Looking forward to see what you make next
Love your videos, but yeah… welcome to the club. I enjoyed the game a lot, but it started feeling like a job, I had to play everyday to keep up with the new releases, and monetization was getting more and more aggressive, so I dropped it.
the multiple currencies thing we see in Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, and really every free to play multiplayer and mobile game is the tried and true way to make it harder for the player to feel like they’re spending less money. A lot of Gacha Games now have a single ‘pull’ be like 160 of whatever material, which is an obscure number that’s hard to equate to the actual money you’re spending. Zooming in on Overwatch specifically, you have your premium credits, your free credits, your owl tokens, comp points, legacy comp points, mythic prisms and of course actual dollars
I stopped playing when I went on holiday to Sri Lanka and missed 15 days and felt like I was too far behind and realised I didn’t enjoy playing that much I really don’t miss it especially with Rivals being so good
Its already been shown that card games cannot survive on cosmetics, nando. Legends of runeterra and Gwent both gave cards away like candy and monetized cowmetics, and both games are currently dead. Gwent got cancelled years back because it didnt make any money, and LoR has been pared back to only be PvE development. The fact of the matter is if you want a card game to live for any period of time, you need to sell cards.
To be fair about the series drops, people miss that old system for good reason but it *was* broken as well. Basically no one played with new cards. We would just horde caches until the drop happens then pick up all of these old cards that released months ago. You'd get enough tokens to select one new card a month, that was it. These days I frequently get like 2, 3, even 4 brand new cards a month based on what I choose to open. Ideally, Second Dinner will find some middle ground between the two systems.
This is one of those games I really enjoyed, spent too much money on, then after a few months started to hate it cause it was no longer worth the money
Hey Nando, been a fan of your content for a long time and you actually did introduce me to marvel snap with the Black Swan video. I’ve experienced all the things you’ve talked about in this video in real time as a new player. I feel like I’m in a good place with my collection where I’m having a lot of fun with the game without spending too much money and I’m really thankful to you for introducing me to the game. At the same time, I very much respect and agree with your points in this video about card acquisition and being the gateway to a predatory game. Not much else to say. Love your content, love Snap. Sad to see the series go but much respect to you for standing on your beliefs and being vocal about it.
Gonna miss these videos. Your Marvel knowledge and passions overlap with my Marvel blind spots perfectly. But your reasoning is sound. And as someone who briefly worked on the development of an app game I can tell you that the point of multiple in game currencies is confusion. Thanks for the great recommendations,by the way. The half of them that I know, I love, so I am excited to look into the ones that are new to me.
missed opportunity. you didn't say "I've snapped".
"I've FINALLY snapped"
Textbook exaggerated yt title
Goes to show that Nando is pretty straightforward I guess, lol
#sonovabitch, that’s a great pun!
Thought that was Iron Man, or Thanos
He will never recover from this
Gotta say, I'll miss the videos. They totally got me into Snap, but I haven't hit the point yet where I'd need to pay money. But also, thank you for the shout out! It was really unexpected, but appreciated.
Oh hey, I know you. You talk about comics! And your name is Drake.
When I heard Snap was being blocked as part of the TikTok mess, my first thought was "Oh no, Nando!"
NO FR
*TikTok. Not "TicTok".
@@HeyItsLito thanks, I'll edit for clarity, but autocorrect typos be typoing
Literally the only reason I have any connection or interest for Snap!.
Why was it banned though?
Please keep making who is somevody videos, they are such a great way to get people into characters who aren't that popular. Keep doing Marvel characters, and maybe even branching out to DC, manga, and idie comics.
This is the real takeaway!
I'll second that! I like listening to you describe obscure comic characters.
Yeah I love them and I’ve barely touched snap. The recent ones inspired me to add Dark Avengers to my TBR. I’d watch more even if they’re more “algorithmically relevant”
Seconded - hopefully doing just one a month with all the characters for Snap like how it started could be the way.
Yes yes yes!
:( i was really enjoying the lore videos
So many good things are coming to an end
he could just simply do marvel lore videos without snap.
@EwanLim yeah I hope he does
2:07 I don't get it that's literally his name ???
Damn it I'm so mad you saw this before I could clip it!
Ive learned through another comment this is your doing
For real Bynx, I don't know why everyone keeps mispronouncing it.
I was about to jump on the comments and defend you my king 😂 but you got here before me.
LMAOOO
2:15 To be fair, the "Magento" thing was a Bynx bit. Every time a chatter corrected him he'd be like "That's what I said" to intentionally frustrate them
Did it start as a bit though?
Its the exact reason I could never watch his streams or videos. It really ground my gears and I don't have a good reason why.
@@no_nameyouknow he has dialexia I believe. He read it wrong one time and the chat went crazy and the bit stayed

Yup, and it is fucking hilarious everytime someone gets big mad about it in his chat
I really have loved this series and I’ve never once played or even downloaded marvel snap. I enjoy the “who is this random character” of it all. Same. I've never played the game, but now know so much about the strategy from watching these videos, lol
I got into it from the symbiote episodes, I finally got Spider-Man 2 after I watched the underwhelming venom 3 and wanted to get summaries on some symbiotes who weren't just venom and carnage (mainly lasher). So I think if you covered those stories and the comic issues in game, it would be cool and engaging and I would definitely watch
Probably cause he doesn't play it
Check The Nando Cut for at least one video doing exactly that.
There's literally a video about the rivals costumes one video ago
I meant more in the future guys, calm down.
Having multiple currencies allows companies to obscure the amount of money you are paying
Generally that's not the reason though. It's usually just a way to keep separate the "definitely gained using cash" currency from the "maybe given for free" currency, even when they have similar outcomes. Some currencies are more F2P than others, in most of these games.
@@timogulur kidding urself if u think thats not the main reason tho
@ I can't speak for every company, but it is the main reason in most cases. It makes the most sense. Now maybe some do use it to intentionally complicate things, but mostly it's just the most efficient way to handle things.
I'll add to this that it allows them to have a 'cheap' currency they can give away to players, while still withholding the 'Cash-Currency.'
Example: in Dead By Daylight, there are 3 currencies;
- Bloodpoints, 'XP Currency.'
This is obtained in matches and used to level up characters, and is the easiest currency to obtain.
- Iridescent Shards: 'time/effort currency.'
This one is tougher to obtain as it can only be done through using enough Bloodpoints, or leveling your *online profile* up enough through time spent/ games played. It takes many hours to get a worthwhile amount, but they give you access to perks, characters, and cosmetics that are available in the store. They are *extremely* reluctant to give this away as it can act as a replacement for cash in their store.
- Auric Cells, the 'Cash Currency.'
These are their cash equivalent - 5 bucks gets 500 cells, and with that you can buy any character or any cosmetic.
One thing that blows my mind is Marvel will create a game like this but not find a way to use it directly support the comics (and then complain why are comic sales down)
Nando used the game to get people into Marvel comics, he should be paid for that.
Marvel never made this game though. Second dinner made it independently and brought it to marvel but only for permission to use/lease the ip
@@epicjwkl Not sure if it's what you mean, but Rivals did have a thing that you got some loot if you subscribed to Marvel Unlimited
He already proved he was willing to do it for no compensation and no recognition. Businesses will never see you doing that and then decide to spend money on you when you've shown they don't have to.
I think that’s what makes marvel ruins cool cause it has its own story as well
It's such a ridiculous shame they never found a way to partner with you. Silly, foolish, absurd!
Even if they did partner with him, I think he'd still feel icky introducing people to such a predatory product
Oh, the Marvel Rivals currency confused me at first too but when it was exlained to me it made more sense:
- Blue Currency is used to by cosmetics (mostly skins) which you can earn by completing in-game achievements, certain seasonal missions, and going through the battle pass.
NOOOOOOOOO these are some of my favourite videos. 😭 Such a great video series. I get it but damn :(
As someone who discovered your channel through the Snap videos and looks forward to them every week, this is very sad to see, but I totally get your reasoning.
$100 dollars for Hercules and enough credits for another card is CRAZY
Found you cause of snap, gonna stay for the quality content 👍🏼
I loved the lore and watched most of them but understand your reasoning. Disconnecting from Snap at the minimum seems wise, a lot of people seem to have turned on it because of the usual mobile game BS. It's pretty wild that is so bad many streamers and youtubers are being turned off by it. I started early and had a great collection but quit forever when I started to feel I could never keep up without dropping serious wedge.
Really appreciate the shout-out. Thanks!!!
Thank you for the shoutout! Much appreciated!
You could say, "you snapped" lmao. TBH that's how I feel with Marvel Rivals.
Heartbreaking but understandable thank you to you and the entire unseen team who’ve put in great effort into these fun videos in the last year
I thought the whole selling point of snap was it wasnt pay to play XD
Maybe a good compromise would be to make these “who is” videos over non-snap characters? It lets you choose which characters to focus on, as well as take as much time as you need between videos to make it feel “worth it” to make it
Marvel Snap was so promising but so dissapointing. I loved the game since launch but the way Second Dinner just lied to the community time and time again really made me give up on the game. Having a great time playing Pokémon Pocket
I can’t blame you for stopping these videos. But I will miss them. I read through exiles and the Hickman new avengers because of them and I don’t regret it.
What a based take, this man don't miss!! Even the shoutouts to the other comic channels! We're still on the good side of the internet everyone! haha
Maybe one video for month? About the four cards?
Five cards but yeah maybe so idk. And one recommendation a character
Sorry man. Much love.
End of an era. This was one of my favorite regular series on RUclips lately. I agree with everything you said about the game (especially those bizarre "For You" bundles.) and understand why you're stopping. Excited for more Nando regardless!
I stopped playing in November for the reasons you just said, but I've kept on your videos because they're so good. I'll miss the series, but I get it.
Yeah even though I had quit and stopped playing because money and mental health reasons I was still entertained by these.
I'm a long-time player that uninstalled the game about a month ago because, in addition to the predatory monetization, I'm just too damn susceptible to letting live-service games take over my attention and I don't want to try and keep figuring out if I'm actually enjoying a game or playing it due to FOMO or the sunk cost fallacy.
honestly Nando, those prehistoric avengers are badass and worthy of videos😂 but I completely respect your decision and see the work behind it
This makes me sad.
This is how Iearn that Snap is in some kind of trouble because of the TikTok ban. I live in Italy so I had no idea this was happening
Mentioning other creators is so cool of you
Second Dinner has said they are seeking a new publisher.
Love your reasonings for stopping but I will still miss these videos. They should have just gone ahead and put you in the creator program :)
Even if you just pick topical characters you could do essentially the same videos without the Snap take and I'd actually be More interested in those.
also a squirrel girl video would blow up rn
I’m sorry to know this videos didn’t get the attention they deserved. I wish I had viewed more of them to show support. At the beginning I would but with time I started to select some to watch.
I gave up on Snap months ago. It was turning into a money pit and it was no longer fun chasing cards that they would just nerf in a month or so.
I want to recommend "Go Read Some Comics With Jenna" she's a cool channel.
Mobile/monetized games usually have multiple forms of currency to dissociate you from the fact that you’re spending real money.
I mean, spolight caches are basically lootboxes, or maybe gatcha pulls. I don't really think there is much difference.
They announced with the ban that they need to find a new publisher, so I hope that changes some of their monetization
