I am 65 years old and used to set my alarm on Saturday mornings during the mid 1960s. I'd watch the farm report to make sure I was up early enough. Terry toons would come on next and Heckle and Jeckle were my favorites. We only had black and white back then with no remotes and no cable, only about 4 channels. It was fuzzy antenna, but that was about the only time for cartoons, so I had to get up.
Oh,my God.You are taking me to 1975 at the beginning of the Lebanese civilian war in Tal Alzaater camp .That days and when bombing starts,my mother was taking us to shelter, I leave them and return to home to see this my favorite cartoon with my big brother.Thanks
Very enjoyable cartoon with the boys as tomb raiders who end up getting plucked and featuring some very beautifully painted Egyptian backdrops, most of them recycled. I am pretty sure this is the third time I have seen that incredible cat dancer, but it's such a good scene it works every time-the movements are just great. What else? I thought the Sphinx looked a lot like Elmer Fudd, but the Harpo guy in the sarcophagus didn't look much like Harpo.
Good to hear the original soundtrack. The VHS release of 52 H&J shorts in the 1990s seemed to have been redubbed with some terrible music, and no Ned Sparks.
There were many cartoons of these two characters, just as good, but what I do not understand is why they always cut a part, and seen the same with episodes of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Merry Melodies etc. It is extremely frustrating to never find the complete animations.
I'm guessing their budget was tight at the time, so they had to recycle old animation to save money. Even disney did this for a while. Like in Robin Hood, where they recycled animation from the Jungle Book.

When cartoons began to be produced for tv instead of for theaters, animation went from legitimate works of art to crap in less than a decade.

Good old magpies. Been a few decades. Looks better drawn than Mighty Mouse. Have seen the feline belly dancer on a Gandy Goose/Sourpuss cartoon.
I haven't seen this cartoon in more than 50 years, but I still remembered parts of it, and still love it.

Recycling is good. The Three Stooges reused scenes like this all the time.
