    This video is choice! Thanks for throwing these together. That last one might be the holy grail of mapping my Live to all my external drum machines. Akai told me over 2 months ago they would follow up with me on that question lol.

      Definitely the ability to put the drum midi notes to chromatic is long overdue. I guess the listened to your request ;)

    But if you don't split the drums, how would you go about pulling certain drum sounds out in different parts of the song when it comes to arranging. I don't own an MPC yet. Ordering mine Wednesday. But this is definitely something I'm curious about. I would assume to keep all the drums in one track and pull some put at different parts you would have to copy the main pattern and create versions of it for the different parts.

    I don't understand the first step, what are key groups and q links and what's the reason for them in plain terms? Thanks, tip number 7 answered one of the most important questions that I had about being able to mute pads while recording. I cannot wait to get one of these bad boys. This was a great video man.

    • @mpchead
      @mpchead  5 лет назад

      Keygroups are programs that allow you to play samples chromatically. Qlinks are the knobs on the mpc. Thanks fo watching :)

  • @shmiqqy
    @shmiqqy 6 лет назад +2

    It was weird I was thinking "how would I cut out drums in a track while recording?" then you covered the pad mute part, it didn't make much sense to me because while you muted some there wasn't much change to the track but most likely because I'm watching on mobile.

    Nice vids mate. Just got my Live a couple of days ago and getting into it. Old 4000 user, so not entirely new to me but there are some great new functions and loving the speed of it. I'd add another tip that I thought of watching your vid. Get a decksaver or other such cover. I ordered mine the day I got it and judging by yours (no offence), I'm glad I did. This things a dust magnet! Was going to ask where you are from, but checked your profile. I was way off, thought your accent sounded Dutch or Scandi!

    Thank you for your vids, really helpful.I have a question please:I just midified my drumulator and sounds are triggered but not in the same area of midi notes. So with mpc pads I have sounds in C and D pages: not easy for finger drumming!I’d like to have my sounds triggered on page A. Do you have a way to do it? I can’t change the midi notes of my pads... :(

    • @mpchead

      What mpc are you using? Try going to the midi control in the menu and see if you can change the midi notes of the pad

      thanks, but it doesn't do the trick. Ideal would be creating a midi program and change midi notes...

    • @mpchead

      yes, that would do it. Not sure if you can do that in standalone mode, might need to go to the software for that

    Currently on Push 2. Been really appreciating how machines like the mpc 2000 and 3000 sound. Cant afford it. Does this mpc have the same warm chunky sound to it? Ableton push sounds super flat.

    • @mpchead
      @mpchead  5 лет назад +1

      the older mpcs have a different sound, circuitry was just different. the new ones need fx to hit and sound like old mpc but that is ok you can make them sound like that if you want.

    Hello , i am struggling between an octatrack m2 or the mpc live,i allready had once the octatrack and it was rock solid (no crashes,glitches etc..),but i had to sell it of personal economic reasons,now i saw the mpc live and regarding producing hole songs and sampling power its on paper actually smokes the octatrack,but i saw many complaints about stability and relaibility,some questions to somebody who had used the mpc live :
    -can i make a 2 hour live set without worring about crashes,and sound glitches?(clip launch mode)
    -Does it get stucked while having multiple parameters automated?
    -can i sequence several midi mashines at once? (example two friends come over for a jam,and i connect two different midi keyboards to trigger different midi channels,so i can jam with the pads,while the others play melodys on the keyboards)e.g. multitimbrality
    -can i load samples and make editing while the sequencer is running in clip launch mode,without overcharging the performance relaibility?
    -can i change clips in realtime without stopping the sequencer?
    if somebody has experience with mpc live,please help me with my decision,thanks!(ps: I dont care about connecting to computer and wireles midi etc,i only want to use the standalone mode)

    • @mpchead
      @mpchead  7 лет назад +1

      I was hopping to see if anyone with a Live could help you. I own the Touch so I can't really answer all your questions.
      For the first 2 questions I can't answer seeing that I don't own the live.
      For question 3 the answer is no. If you want to have a midi key playing sounds on the Mpc, it will only play the track that is selected on the main screen. This is to receive midi. If you want to output midi you have multitimbrality.
      You can load and change samples without stopping the sequencer.

    Can you record the FX like filter, stutter etc., too? The fact that automation can pad and track mutes can be recorded are a big plus when it comes to arranging. This pisses me of on Maschine, since this is STILL not possible... Thinking about switching to MPC in the near future.

    • @mpchead
      @mpchead  5 лет назад +1

      Yes you can automate FX too :) not sure how maschine's workflow is but I see many people use it. Sometimes you sacrifice some functions when you switch to another machine.

    Are are drum voices of pad are supposed to be tapped into one track of the sequence?

    • @mpchead
      @mpchead  5 лет назад

      you can put all into one track if you like, it's up to you. Chose your workflow, don't forget that you can mix with pad mixer.

  • @SirMalikCobra

    I believe a pad can only be involved in one mute group at a time correct? Or do you know a way to put one pad in multiple mute groups?

      Only one mute group at a time but you can also try mute target, it will extend a bit more control.

    What’s the difference between pad mute / track mute? I mean don’t they do the same thing?

    • @mpchead
      @mpchead  5 лет назад +1

      The idea is the same but the track and one single pad are two separate things. The pad mutes refer to the samples that are associated to the pad inside the Drum programs. When you go to track mutes pads serve for you to mute tracks.
